J. Stewart Goodwin Brig Gen, USAF (ret.) Executive Director, Indiana War Memorials Commission

General Goodwin has been a friend and advocate for Girl Scouts of Central Indiana since 2012. During our 100th anniversary year, General Goodwin approached our organization to see if Girl Scouts could help collect and retire tattered U.S. flags. Thus began a partnership that has resulted in hundreds, if not thousands, of tattered flags being collected throughout the month of May and then retired at Girl Scout summer camps across our jurisdiction. The patriotic service project is a natural fit for Girl Scouts and teaches girls proper respect for this important symbol of our country

Besides the flag partnership, General Goodwin and the Indiana War Memorials Commission support Girl Scouts by hosting S’mores on the Circle and other events throughout the year. We look forward to continuing our patriotic service project in collaboration with General Goodwin and the Indiana War Memorials Commission this year.
