Using the Guide

Cancellation and Refund Policy

In the guide, you’ll find information about programs designed for girls, families, and adults. We offer opportunities across North Florida, from Jacksonville to Pensacola and everywhere in between!

For events: • All requests must be in writing.

• Unless otherwise stated, the last day to request a refund is the closing date for registration of the specific event.

Let girls take the lead! Help her find the experiences that are just right for her.

For properties: • Initial deposit is nonrefundable unless there is an extenuating circumstance, such as weather.

• Cancellations need to be received 30 days prior to the property reservation date in order to not be responsible for the entire fee.

• Cancellations received within 30 days of property reservation date will be billed at 100 percent.

• In all cases of cancellation, we will attempt to • reschedule the camping event to an alternative day or property as appropriate.

Once you pick the programs she wants to attend, register online at girlscoutsgateway.org/events.

Remember: Girl Scouts is about progression! If your Junior Girl Scout sees a program she’d love but it’s only available to Seniors and Ambassadors, remind her that if she sticks with Girl Scouting, she’ll be able to do that program soon — and more!

Girls can attend events as a troop, on their own, or with their whole family. You’ll see which events are open to different groups throughout the guide.

The process for refunds: • Once written cancellation is received, the refund is processed within 1-2 business days and is credited to the payment card initially used.

• If a cash or check were used, a refund check will be issued and sent to the name and address on the original check.

• If the payment was made by credit card more than 120 days prior to the request, a refund check will be issued.

• A cancellation and refund confirmation will be sent to the person making the request. Once the refund has been processed, card refunds should be received within 2-3 business days.

Refund checks should be received within 5 business days.

• If the cancellation period has passed, the request will be reviewed for consideration and a response of approval or denial will be sent.

• If funds for a community event have already been paid to the community, the community will receive all cancellation requests and provide any refunds.

Girl Programs Highest Awards Q&A: Money Earning and Money Matters Jan 2 Zoom-Virtual Cost: $0/GS, $0/Adult What do you need to know about money earning? Girl Scout fundraising dos and don’ts for girls and troops of all levels. Ideas for project budgeting and record keeping.

Program Aide Training Weekend Jan 6 – 8 Camp Kugelman – Pensacola/Alabama Cost: $40/GS, $25/Adult Program Aides, also known as PA's are Girl Scouts who plan and lead activities and events for younger girls. This training weekend enables girls to explore their leadership through participation in hands-on activities, skill building, and reflection. We ask that you please attend the complete weekend, which includes overnight camping from Friday - Sunday. All food, lodging and materials are included in the event registration cost.

Gold Award Bootcamp Jan 7 Virtual - Zoom Cost: $0/GS, $0/Adult This Highest Awards training is highly recommended for girls interested in pursuing the Girl Scout Gold Award. You'll get tools to develop your plan as you learn about the components of Highest Awards.

Along the way, learn how to choose a project adviser, what is active leadership and how to build sustainability. Bring your thinking cap!

Trail Adventure Badge Workshop & Picnic Jan 7 Coldwater Gardens – Milton Cost: $18/GS, $14/Adult Take a hike and learn how to be a confident trail adventurer! We will learn about hiking gear, navigation, looking for plants and animals and relaxation in nature.

We'll put our skills together on a fun hike through multiple ecosystems! Bring a pack lunch and have a picnic after the program and enjoy the property on your own!

Daisy Brownie Fun Day Jan 8 Camp Kugelman – Lillian Cost: $7/GS, $2/Adult Calling all Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies – join us at camp for a fun filled day of activities ran

by Cadette Girl Scouts who just completed their Program Aide Training. As part of the training, Cadettes will incorporate their newly acquired skills for working with younger Girl Scouts during programs and events, your Girl Scouts will help them earn the final requirement of their training by participating in activities, playing outdoor games, singing songs around the campfire circle, taking a hike and even doing a cool science experiment! This event is perfect to attend on your own or with your Girl Scout troop. We hope to see you there!

Robotics 2 with Shiva Robotics Academy Jan 11 Shiva Robotics Academy- Jacksonville Program Fees: $35/GS, $10/Adult Girl Scouts learn Drag and Drop Block-based coding to program Sensor and Motor, and to change motor speeds, turn the robot and make the robot move forwards and backward.

Me and My Gal Campout All GS Jan 13 – 15 Camp Kugelman Cost: $45/GS, $70/Adult Bring your favorite gal and explore all that camp has to offer. Show off your outdoor skills as you enjoy the camp classic like archery, kayaking, fire building, and so much more!

Girl Programs Youth Mental Health First Aid Training

Robotics 3 with Shiva Robotics Academy

Jan 14 Zoom- Virtual Cost: $0/GS, $0/Adult Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Jan 18 Shiva Robotics Academy- Jacksonville Cost: $35/GS, $10/Adult

Educate and Inspire

Girl Scouts will present their robotic model to the group, explain their robot building/coding process to others, and discuss the connection among their findings and analyze situations in real life.

GS Game Night with Florida Gators Women's Basketball - All GS Jan 22 UF O’Connell Center - Gainesville Cost: $2/GS, $2/Adult Join the Women Gators for a Girl Scout Game Day with a GSGC welcome message on the game board, post-game photo on the court and every girl will receive a free Florida Gator fun patch! A digital ticket sales link will be emailed to you after registration. Tickets will be an additional $2 when you order them.

Girl Scouts will visit merchants to purchase housing, transportation, food, clothing, child care, and other wants and needs while building a budget, compelling them to make everyday life decisions about spending and saving.

Girl Programs Highest Awards Q&A: Brainstorming a Project and Creating a Project Proposal Feb 3 Virtual - Zoom Cost: $5/GS, $5/Adult This month, we will share ideas to help girls brainstorm community needs and identify their passions. The goal is to decide on and commit to a project with a clear target audience.

STOMP - All GS Feb 3 Phillips Center – Gainesville Cost: $41/ Ticket STOMP is explosive, inventive, and utterly unique— an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eightmember troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments— matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps— to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

National Girls & Women in Sports Day Clinic - All GS Feb 4 University of North Florida - Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS, $0/Adult Participate in this clinic run by female student athletes. Girls will rotate from station to station and learn the basics of each sport that will be taught by female sports teams. You will hear from the sports performance team about stretching and nutrition as well as the Taylor Leadership Institute about the importance of leadership in sports.

Book Art Bonanza Feb 9 LeRoy Collins Leon County Eastside Branch Library - Tallahassee Cost: $0/GS, $0/Adult

Join us for a fun and interactive book art workshop. Learn how to make your own sewn pamphlet and create pop-up book pages. Attendees will leave with the skills and handouts so they can continue creating books at home. Cadettes will have completed all the requirements for and can purchase the Book Artist Badge at the conclusion of the program.

Winnie the Pooh - All GS Feb 19 Phillips Center – Gainesville Cost: $27/ Ticket A new adventure is coming to UFPA, Disney’s iconic Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, and their best friends Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Owl (oh… and don’t forget Tigger, too)! The characters we know and love come to life in a beautifully crafted musical stage adaptation. This beautifully fresh stage variation is told with stunning life-sized puppetry through the eyes of our favorite characters, in a new story from the Hundred Acre Wood. This performance promises to be sweet as honey for the entire family!

Bring your Girl Scout cheer to support the number 2 collegiate team in the nation! The Gator Gymnastics team will wow with their athleticism and skill as they compete against the Kentucky Wildcats!

March 4 MOSH - Jacksonville Cost: $23/GS, $17/Adult Join MOSH and our Engineers in a morning full of drops, twists, and turns in exploring all things Roller Coasters! We will put our imaginations & creativity to the test as we learn what the Engineering Design Process is and build our own roller coasters to test out.

When it comes to making and being a good friend, there are a lot of things to think about! Friendships can be tricky to navigate at times but that’s okay.

During this workshop we will talk about how to communicate with our friends, healthy versus unhealthy friendships, and when we might need to reach out for help.

Learn the link between local and global projects and how to make them last after your project is complete. Strategies to be maintained at a certain level of economic growth within your project.

The House That She Built - All GS March 4 Leroy Collins Public Library – Tallahassee Cost: $2/ GS, $1/ Adult Exploring Careers in construction is a great way to develop existing skills and discover new ones.

The National Association of Women in Construction wants to empower girls to think about construction by meeting real professional women in building. The intent of this patch program is to build self-esteem and develop skills through curiosity and hands on activities.

Triple Badge Workshop: All About Cybersecurity March 4 Challenger Learning Center – Tallahassee Cost: $35/ GS, $12/ Adult Cybersecurity is so important in our world today and it is at the heart of keeping girls safe online!

Girls will use modern and advanced STEM technology to identify cybersecurity in real world situations. Each Girl Scout will earn all 3 level appropriate Cybersecurity badges.

Kidz Tough with Women’s Defense Company March 5 Women’s Self Defense Company - Jacksonville Cost: $45/GS, $1/Adult This fun and empowering children’s selfdefense program will teach your child how to recognize and respond to dangerous situations as well as realistic techniques to escape from an attempted abduction.

Fight Like a Girl with Women’s Defense Company March 5 Women’s Self Defense Company - Jacksonville Cost: $45/GS, $45/participating adult, $1/nonparticipating Adult Your journey in self-defense starts here! This empowering hands-on, self-defense course will bring out your inner warrior and teach you how powerful you can be in avoiding or stopping an attack. Female adults may also sign up and participate.

Financial Planner with Bank of America March 8 Girl Scout Headquarters- Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS

LEAD for Women group at Bank of America will help Ambassadors plan for a future that includes real-life expenses and borrowing money. They take a deep dive into the meaning behind credit cards and loans and understand how both can impact their financial future. Ambassadors will earn their Financial Planner Badge.

Astronomy Program Aide Training March 10 TBD, Jacksonville Cost: $15/GS Build on the leadership and organizational skills you learned in Gateway Council's Program Aide training.

Learn the science behind and how to present the activities undertaken in the Moon Girls and Sun Girls programs to be presented this spring.

Girl Programs Sleepover with the Fish, Sharks, and Stingrays! - All GS March 11 St. Augustine Aquarium – St. Augustine Cost: $80/GS, $80/adult You have seen the aquarium in the daytime but at night can be a whole different experience! Many animals are nocturnal and interactive at night!

Explore these animals with hands on activities.

Bring your tent and sleeping bag and snooze amongst the sharks, stingrays & fish! Enjoy a continental breakfast.

Ready Set Hike!

March 11 Ponte Vedra Beach $10/GS, $10/Adult Ready Set Hike events are designed for Cadette scouts to work toward their Cadette Trailblazer badge. Senior and Ambassador Scouts and adults are also invited to attend for conditioning or just to get outdoors. This hike will be at least 5 miles long.

Girl Scout Health Explorers March 11 UF Health- Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS, $5/Adult

Do you feel a calling to give back or have an interest in pursuing a career in medicine?! This program is for you! Girl Scouts will join UF Health and experience different healthcare careers! This is a hands-on program that includes hands only CPR and Stop the Bleed.

March 11 Ponte Vedra Beach Cost: $10/GS, $10/Adult

Trail Adventure Hikes are designed for Junior scouts to step into the wilderness and work toward their Junior Trailblazer badge. Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Scouts and adults are also invited to attend to gain hiking experience or just to get outdoors. This hike will be at least 3 miles long.

Spring Break Resident Camp Week Animal Encounter with EPIC Outreach March 11 EPIC Outreach- Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS, $5/Adult

Visit One EPIC Farm to meet rescued farm animals like horses, pigs, and chickens. Enjoy a farm tour, meet and greet with the animals, and a themed art activity.

March 12 - 17 Camp Kugelman -Lillian Cost: $350/GS Come be a part of our first ever Spring Break Resident Camp at Camp Kugelman! You will play games, cook over a campfire, do crafts, and of course have FUN! You don't want to miss out on this week of Spring Break Camp!

Nailed It! Girl Scout Game Night with the Pensacola Ice Flyers - All GS March 11 Pensacola Bay Center - Pensacola Cost: $23/ GS, $23/ Adult Join Pensacola Ice Flyers for Girl Scout Game Night! The night will include a Gateway Council video board shout out, an on-ice photo after the game, and holding the Pre-Game Flag (this if for the first 40 girls to register). If we have more than 30 registered everyone will receive a free hat!

March 12 Nailed It DIY Studio- Jacksonville Cost: $26/GS

Earn your woodworking badge while learning new skills and having a blast. Using raw wood materials, power tools, and paint you will build a wood project with your own two hands! A Cadette Woodworker Badge or Fun Patch will be provided for each registered Girl Scout girl at the conclusion of the program.

Entertainment Technology Workshop with Mad Science CFL March 19 Virtual - Zoom Cost: $16/GS, $18/non-GS youth Girl Scouts will learn about the optical illusions of movie images, create their own thaumatrope, and become a foley artist!

Budget Basics with VyStar Credit Union March 23 Girl Scout Headquarters – Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS Join us to learn more about saving money and spending in a smart way. We’ll discuss wants versus needs and how a savings account can help you reach your goal.

Practice Makes Perfect March 23 Women’s Center of Jacksonville Cost: $5/ GS, $0/Adult The more we practice setting and respecting boundaries with others in our lives, the easier it will be for us to have some amazing lifelong friendships! During this workshop we will talk about different kinds of boundaries, when and how to establish them, who you might need to set boundaries with, and how to say what you want.

Pizza Party with Jax Cooking Studio!

March 25 Jacksonville Cooking Studio- Jacksonville Cost: $50/GS, $50/Adult Put on your chef's hat and create a delicious meal from scratch! Each attendee will make a pizza, salad, and spring cookies following the chef’s direction.

Enjoy your tasty creations for lunch!

Ceramics with MOCA March 25 Museum of Contemporary Art - Jacksonville Cost: $15/GS, $10 Adult Learn about the history of ceramics art and how it is made before visiting the studio to create your own piece to take home.

Space Pioneers at the MOSH! March 25 MOSH - Jacksonville Cost: $23/GS, $17/Adult

Take an intergalactic road trip with MOSH! We’ll discover the planets, learn what constellations we can see at night, and travel throughout the galaxy, all while staying comfortably Earth-bound in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium here at the Museum.

Scouts will have hands-on activities to explore our solar system and the constellations.

Girl Programs Triple Badge Coding for Good Workshop with Kids Can Code March 25 Virtual - Zoom Cost: $30/GS Learn about coding basics, digital game design, and app development with Kids Can Code. Girl Scouts will earn three badges writing JavaScript code and using the VidCode platform. Girls will practice coding in a fun and laid-back learning environment that will allow the ability to explore and expand on coding capabilities!

Engineering For Speed March 25 Virtual Cost: $35/ GS, $5/ Adult Teamwork is key to NASCAR. Daisy and Brownies can work together in the blended program to earn three badges. Girl Scouts will explore how and why cars are designed and their purpose by examining parts and pieces and creating their own car design. Learn about assembly lines and how cars are manufactured at a race team and factory. Test your engineering skills to build a car based on their scout level.

Then race your cars to see if you can set or beat the NASCAR Hall of Fame track record.

Full Throttle Engineering & Racing March 25 Virtual Cost: $35/ GS, $5/ Adult Teamwork is key to NASCAR. Designed for speed, race cars can drive at up to 200 mph. Juniors explore race cars and streetcars to discover design, science, engineering, and manufacturing, earning 3 badges. Juniors step into the roles of engineer, designer, and aerodynists. Throughout the 60-minute session, scouts will create their cars through each step of the program, from concept to build, to racing. Girl Scouts will need to draw on their knowledge of science, including forces in motion and energy.

Car Care 101 with Mercedes Benz March 25 Mercedes Benz - Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS Girl Scouts will learn about basic car maintenance, vehicle safety, and what to do in case of an emergency in this fun and hands-on workshop!

Girl Programs Star Party! - All GS March 25 Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park - Jacksonville Cost: $5/GS, $1/adult, $7/non-GS youth, $3/non-GS adult Join us for a Star Party! Aquatics Weekend 2 Canoe 1 May 19 Camp Kateri Cost: $50 / GS, $50 / Adult Spend the weekend learning the basic canoe strokes and concepts of canoeing safety. This weekend will be packed full of amazing tips and tricks to help you become a skilled canoer, including many different strokes, how to get in and out, and how to handle a capsized canoe. Enjoy beautiful Hankley Lake, while learning basic canoe skills and play Canoe Tag!

Aquatics Weekend 2 Canoe 2 May 19 Camp Kateri Cost: $50 / GS, $50 / Adult Come back for round two as you become proficient in paddling strokes and maneuvers you learned in Canoeing 1 (Intro to Canoeing), then learn new strokes and sweeps to strengthen your skills. Eat lunch on the lake, in your canoe and take a nice refreshing swim in Hankley Lake!

Aquatics Weekend 2 Sailing 2 May 19 Camp Kateri Cost: $50 / GS, $50 / Adult Expand your sailing and teamwork skills as you guide a Laser through the water during this one weekend course. Learn how to rig a Laser on your own and join in a regatta as you solidify your skills.

Painting at MOCA May 20 Museum of Contemporary Art Cost: $15/GS, $10/Adult Develop your skills as an artist by learning about mixing color, observation, various paints, and then putting it all together to paint your own masterpiece.

The GSGC Girl Media Team is for girls who thrive behind or in front of the camera. Girls who have big dreams of being news anchors, journalists, YouTubers, graphic designers, and writers.

The Girl Media Team is a special-interest group open to Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors.

Girls across our council receive special training in all-things media, empowering them to be the official reporters for council and community events and officially represent GSGC as they share our stories with the Girl Scout community and the world.

Members serve as the faces and voices of GSGC in various media outlets. As a member of the GSGC Girl Media Team you will: •Interview with the media and attend press events.

•Volunteer at Girl Scout booths at public events.

•Participate in focus groups.

•Write articles and shoot photos/videos.

Girl Programs GS Night with the Jacksonville Sharks

Sun Girls

May 20 VyStar Veterans Memorial ArenaJacksonville Cost: $30/ GS, $30/ Adult Calling all Girl Scouts and families for a fun filled night with the Jacksonville Sharks! Girl Scouts will kick the evening off with alongside the Sharks Dance Team for a one-of-a-kind pregame experience. Girl Scouts will receive a warm welcome with a message over the PA and a feature on the Jumbotron. Each participant will receive a Lower Bowl Endzone Ticket, $10.00 Sharks Bucks for Food, Drink, or Merchandise, exclusive Sharks Hat, Special Edition Sharks Scout Patch, and Autograph Session after the game.

May 27 TBD, Jacksonville Cost: $18/GS, $5/Adult The source of green plant's energy and sun tans.

Our own special star. We examine our Sun's output, called radiation. Its colors, energies and what those colors can mean. How can we easily detect the Ultraviolet light that causes our sun tan?

Is the Sun actually on fire? We will look into the Sun's special properties. You will have a chance to ask your questions too! We will have safe telescopic viewing of the Sun if weather permits!

Eco Badge Cabin Camping Weekend May 26 - 28 Camp Longleaf – Freeport Cost: $500 per cabin Come spend a weekend cabin camping with your Girl Scout sisters. You will rent a cabin that sleeps 10 people, (8 girls and 2 Adults - all bunk bed style). A minimum of 1 Adult must stay in each cabin. You will earn your Eco Badge with Biophilia Staff. Each group will supply their own food and activities outside of the badge workshops. This is a badge weekend you don't want to miss!

Animal and Dinosaur Habitats May 27 MOSH - Jacksonville Cost: $23/GS, $17/Adult Join the experts at MOSH and explore wild animals and their habitats. We will look at different animals and their habitats in the FNC (Florida Naturalist Center) and explore what an animal needs in a habitat to survive. Scouts will have hands-on experience in creating their own animal houses. We will also explore the new Dinosaur traveling exhibit to examine extinct animals and their habitats.

Sleepover with the Jumbo Shrimp - All GS May 27 Jacksonville Cost: $25/GS, $25 Adult Take me out to the ballgame and cheer on our Jumbo Shrimp baseball team. After the game enjoy fireworks and a night of fun including a movie. Concessions will be available for purchase.

All About Stingrays! - All GS June 3 St. Augustine Aquarium – St. Augustine Cost: $18/GS, $10/Adult Learn everything you want to know about stingrays! From what they eat and where they live in the ocean, to their anatomy and measure them, you’ll find out lots of new information about our ocean friends. After you’ve learned all about stingrays, you’ll get up close with them as you feed and touch them!

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and noncrisis situations.

First Aid/CPR/AED Certification March 3 Panama City Beach $45/GS, $45/adult

This course will prepare you to recognize and provide care in a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants; the course meets OSHA/workplace requirements.

Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.

Participants will learn basic kayaking skills for water safety, paddle strokes, self-rescue, and assisted rescue skills as well as effective teaching techniques.

OTEX ACA Paddle Sport Facilitator May 5 Camp Kateri $90/GS, $90/Adult (50.00 paid to GSGC and 40.00 paid to ACA for membership fees)

This certification builds on the same skills taught to Gateway Council Kayak Instructor's but provides a Nationally recognized certification listed in Safety Activity Checkpoints. Adult Volunteers certified as PSFs can take girls (B, J, C, S, A) kayaking on flat, calm, lakes near shore.
