WALKING HER WALK Ali Larter goes on a Wild Ride in Landman INTERVIEW & PHOTOGRAPHY BY { JOHN RUSSO PRODUCED BY { PHOTOHOUSE PRODUCTIONS HAIR BY { KAT THOMPSON FOR FORWARD ARTISTS MAKEUP BY { GEORGIE EISDELL FOR THE WALL GROUP STYLING { JEANANN WILLIAMS FOR FORWARD ARTISTS LOCATION { LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA
What drew you to the role in “Landman”?
I’ve always been incredibly inspired by Taylor Sheridan‘s work and I felt like it was an extraordinary opportunity to play a character with such emotional depth. And obviously, to get to spar with Billy Bob Thorton!
How does “Landman” differ from other projects you’ve been involved with?
Landman is a show that encompasses many different tones. It’s exciting to get to go from raw, vulnerable, dramatic, scenes all the way into comedy.
What has been your favorite part of working on “Landman” so far? My favorite part of Landman is getting to play a
character with so much emotional death. She is a wild ride! Also, we were so moved by how many people connected with our show.
Are there any particular challengers you faced when preparing for your role in the show?
I think one of the greatest challenges of playing Angela was finding her fierce inner confidence. She lives life by her own rules without fearing judgment of others. When I slip on her stilettos, I have to walk her walk.
How do you balance your characters story arc with your personal life? Do you ever find yourself slipping into Angela in certain real life situations? It is a delicate balance, moving between my home
life and back onto set in Fort Worth. Some days, I’m hopping on the last flight home to make it for parent teacher conferences and then racing back to Texas to film. I feel so grateful to be part of this show and I’m teaching my children that you should be able to be a mother and still follow your dreams.
Looking back on your career, what have been some of the roles that have been most meaningful to you?
I started working at 13 years old, so I’ve been doing this for a long time! I’ve been lucky to get to work in so many

different genres from feel-good movies to comedies,

sci-fi, and action. It’s very special that people are still so excited about Legally Blonde, Varsity Blues, Heroes, and Resident Evil. It’s very cool to be able to put a smile on someone’s face and that my movies have passed the test of time.
How has your approach to acting evolved over the years? I’ve studied with many different acting coaches in my life and learned from many different techniques. I have a toolbox at this point and I’m able to draw from it depending on the project that I’m working on. Ivana Chubbuck has been my acting mentor for many years. There is a trust that comes from experience.
What advice would you give to an aspiring actress who wants to make it in the industry? Don’t allow this business to define your worth.
Follow a strong work ethic and constantly continue to learn. Stay on the path of curiosity. Being your

unique self is your secret weapon.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your time in the entertainment industry? There are so many variables that go in to making a special show. You could have an incredible director, writers, actors, and somehow it still doesn’t work. When you’re lucky enough to be part of a project that you not only are inspired to be working on, but connects with audiences too, you know it’s special. It’s that little bit of magic fairy dust when it all comes together, so I live in gratitude and know that every moment is fleeting. To learn more about Ali Larter, follow her @alilarter

Who is Karl Kani the brand and what is and has been its’ journey through the fashion world?
The Karl Kani brand has always been about more than clothes. It’s about identity. When I started the brand in 1989, I wasn’t trying to fit into fashion. I was responding to what I saw in the

THE
ULTIMATE GETAWAY A SPANISH-STYLE SANCTUARY IN LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA WHERE DESERT LUXURY MEETS TIMELESS DESIGN
Gio ISSUE No. 10 LIVING GOOD

Nestled in the heart of La Quinta, California, this masterfully designed Spanish-style residence is the embodiment of desert elegance — where timeless architecture, curated artistry, and resort-caliber amenities come together in perfect harmony. It’s a property that transcends the idea of a home, offering instead a sanctuary of serenity and sophistication. The experience begins at the entry courtyard, where a tranquil stone fountain greets you with the soft sound of cascading water. From the moment you step inside, the world feels quieter, the light warmer, and the desert’s beauty somehow amplified. Set on a rarely found expansive lot — an uncommon luxury in La Quinta — the home enjoys unobstructed views of the Santa Rosa Mountains with no homes directly behind. Every evening, as the sun dips below the ridgeline, the sky ignites in vivid shades of rose, gold, and lavender — an ever-changing work of art that feels entirely your own. Inside, the home’s neutral palette and professional interior design create a sophisticated backdrop for an extraordinary collection of original fine art photographic prints by acclaimed photographer John Russo, each framed in custom white oak. The result is a living gallery, where every space feels intentional and inspired.

Throughout the residence, three newly remodeled stone bathrooms and a luxurious steam shower in the primary suite blend spa-level indulgence with modern comfort. Every smart heated bidet toilet speaks to the home’s commitment to thoughtful luxury. In the designer kitchen, a built-in Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, custom cabinetry, and breathtaking views of the pool make every moment — from morning coffee to dinner with friends — an aesthetic delight.

In the den, a custom white oak pool table by Olhausen stands as both a centerpiece and a conversation starter, while four Samsung Frame TVs turn each living area into an ever-changing art installation.
Step outdoors, and the home transforms into a private resort. At its heart lies a custom-designed pool and spa, complete with two softly cascading waterfalls whose gentle sounds carry through the day and into the night, infusing the entire property with a sense of Zen-like tranquility. As twilight falls, the pool glows a rich, luminous blue, casting reflections that shimmer against the stucco walls and swaying palms — a scene that feels transported from a five-star desert resort. The surrounding grounds are lush and purposeful: twelve mature olive trees frame the landscape, while four large lemon trees and six orange trees infuse the air with citrus fragrance. A custom walking path on each side of the home invites peaceful evening strolls beneath the desert sky, while meticulously designed landscape lighting transforms the property into an ethereal nighttime oasis. The outdoor living spaces are furnished with custom Brown Jordan pieces, perfectly complementing the home’s Spanish aesthetic and ensuring every corner is both elegant and comfortable. Inside, the home continues to surprise and delight. A state-ofthe-art gym rivals any luxury hotel fitness center, while a custom laundry suite fit for a queen turns daily routine into an act of luxury. The guest quarters, complete with its own laundry room and built-in closets, offer privacy, comfort, and impeccable design for visiting family and friends. Located within a prestigious gated community, this home combines security and serenity with world-class design. With its spacious lot, unobstructed mountain vistas, and every imaginable luxury detail, it is not simply a residence — it is an experience of beauty, peace, and refinement. In La Quinta, where the sunsets are art and the air carries the scent of citrus and desert blooms, this Spanish-style masterpiece stands as the ultimate expression of paradise — a home that feels like an eternal vacation.
