Artist Discovery Experiments had launched many careers, Rachel Mason in New York and Nadim Abbas in Hong Kong had their first major shows with the financial support from Experimenta. More importantly it was Experimenta that helped them to form the idea for their shows. Kate March started her now international career in art performance in Experimenta; she had only arrived in Hong Kong for a few months when she walked in our doors. Chris Hom Him Cheung used Experimenta as a testing place for his multi media performances. He had since then started his own company and sound group XCEED and had performed as far as Argentina. Experimenta first discovered the unusual and shy Lam Hoi Sin from her online blog. We took immediate

notice of the quirkiness and the anger in this young woman. In fact we do not think she wanted us to label her as a woman. Her defiance against the male dominated world is exactly what Experimenta was looking for. Lam has since shown her work in major shows in Hong Kong including the ArtisTree. Ann Wu L. had since started her own feminist bookstore Consider the Trouble. Her curation is Hong Kong’s first independent
All these would not be possible without the exhausting and most of the time disheartening work of fund raising. The Experimenta Foundation had raised over HK$2million in the past 5 years for the support of its exhibitions. It had existed without any assistant from the government giving it complete freedom for its art projects.
Philanthropy Experimenta is a pioneer in philanthropy - most philanthropic endeavours in HK are placing your name on a block of building. Experimenta supports artists, not just giving money but to create a space, and to curate their arts to ta ke their careers to another level.
Collaboration Experimenta also has one of Hong Kong's first video art collection and that comes with it a responsibility to showcase their work. Experimenta acts as a go-between for these filmmakers for their future film projects. In our library, we have contacts of over 250 film crews located around the world. Experimenta is in a position to connect filmmakers with their collaborators in over 20 countries ; we have a good knowledge of the style, level of experience and the genres that they specialise in.

PLANS FOR 2017 “Wuxia�, Media Installation Project
The Century Resonates Now
Experimenta plan to present in 2017 a media installation project (Working title:Project Red Hot Spinning) that explores the aesthetic dimension of Asian storytelling in a virtual environment. The project reflects on the Asian aesthetics in the "Wuxia" genre.
Another project in progress is The Century Resonates Now, a moviesymphony in 4 movements dealing with the technical development of music and sound during the last one hundred years. Each movement will portray a time-segment of 25 years. The 4 movements are projected on 4 different screens at the same time, looping the 4 parts to create a continuous flow. When these screens are in the same space, it would be possible for the viewers to walk from one screen to another, creating their own inter-active viewing experience. Fragments could be viewed more than once, skipped, or even put into another sequential order.
A project which took two years from conception to research to execution, it is the result of a collaboration between Dr. Pei-chi Chung, Jing Chian, Gina See-Yuen Wong and Kening Zhu. The first phase of this multi-media installation will be presented as a symposium in ISEA 2016 in Hong Kong.

ABOUT EXPERIMENTA’S FOUNDER Gina See-Yuen Wong Experimenta produce multi-media art productions and showcase experimental and underground films in the past 7 years. The space is founded by filmmaker, curator and producer Gina See-Yuen Wong. She works and lives in Hong Kong and London. Her most recent feature film is La Salamander (110min / Chile - HK / 2016). An experimental thriller shot in Santiago in Chile. It is about a labourer who leaves home to work in a factory where many workers had killed themselves. short experimental film Road to Day Dream Mine, filmed in the Australian desert town of Broken Hill, will be premiered at Art Central 2016. Story on their Art Month programs on 31 March 2016.
