'Screen X Poetry'
SCREENXEXPERIMENTA OPENS ON 22TH MARCH 2016 AS PART OF ART CENTRAL
SCREEN X EXPERIMENTA will be presenting three amazing avant-garde film programs over the course of the duration of Art Centra. Experimental films are so called because they refuse to follow the accepted protocols in filmmaking and are innovative in their narrative techniques. The films selected from the Experimenta Video Library are all recent productions by filmmakers from over the world, including Bahrain, France, Spain, Japan, Algeria , Australia and the last but not least from our native Hong Kong.

'Screen X World Drama' The first program, Screen X World Drama, show short films that are way outside the commercial mainstream and connect with the audience with the unique worlds and realities of the filmmakers.
The second program Screen X Poetry, hopes to bring the audience to experience a visual feast that takes them from Hong Kong, to Russia and to India. It's slow, hauntingly beautiful music and sound will take your breath away in the midst of a very busy harbour front location. I would like to add that both films are directed by minority women filmmakers, an important mission of Experimenta is to show filmmakers who are not given enough chances in the commercial world.
Highlights:
Songs, is from Bahrain and allows the audience , in a mere 3 minutes, a peek into the heart of an arabic woman and a life that can not be tolerated but by a delusion, and a past life that cannot be evoked without a trick. (Asian Premiere / Hong Kong Premiere / in Arabic with English subtitles). Another film, The Road to Day Dream Mine, made by Gina herself, is an exploration of th e alienation and lost dreams of those who dwell in the emptiness in their hearts in the pursuit of meanings. Shot in the Australian desert at Broken Hill , it will be premiered at Art Central.
'Screen x Stage' The last program Screen X Stage shows two genre-crossing films:one film reinterpreted the western theatre and other one reconstructed a Japanese Kabuki play. Intense and gorgeously filmed, one in the United States and the other filmed in an 18th Century traditional Japanese stage, these are two mesmerizing films with beautiful imageries.

Lucy | France / USA | Comedy | Cinema | 10min | 2014 | Asian Premiere | Language : French Lucy is deciding whether she is an actress, a director or merely a fictional character. Is fiction meeting with reality or is it the other way around ?
Venus | Japan | Fantasy | Horror | Women | Social | Anime | 15min | 2015 | Hong Kong Premiere | Language : Japanese The mysterious super heroine Dynamic Venus : also a housewife who is beaten up by her husband every day. But her real nature was an alien.

Katia | Russian Federation/India | Poetic | Road Movie | 40min | 2014 ( World Premiere ) A visual poetry and a road movie about one Russian girl, who left everything and moved to India. She has nothing except small bag and tragic story behind. In this eternal flow of life, Kate's life is just a blink in the eye. But the whole eternity is reflected in this blink. ( in Russian and Hindi )
Program 3 ( 57min) Screen X Experimenta STAGE Simon | USA | Modern Pantomime | Music | experimental | 12min | 2015 A gorgeously shot film about a man prepares for his final entry onto the grand stage, only to be confronted by his inner self.
Samon's Daugther | Japan | Modern Kabuki | Music | experimental | 45min | 2015 ( World Premiere ) A modern take on a historical Kabuki play teams with revenge and courage of a woman who was ahead of her times.
