CREATING A HEALTHIER WORLD FOR ALL PEOPLE: THE GILEAD BENELUX NARRATIVE

DELIVERING ON OUR GLOBAL VISION AND MISSION

vision: make the world a healthier place for all people. mission: discover, develop and deliver innovative therapies for people with life-threatening diseases.

What began in the late 1980's as a bold response to the AIDS crisis evolved into Gilead Sciences:

A relentless force against the world’s most serious diseases, whose work over nearly 40 years has improved the health of millions with diseases and conditions including cancer, viral hepatitis, HIV, inflammation, and COVID-19.

A global biopharmaceutical leader with 25+ currently marketed therapies and more than 17,600 employees, including some of the world’s foremost researchers, scientists and clinicians.

We are united in our commitment to improving the lives of patients. We are guided by our core values — integrity, inclusion, teamwork, excellence, and accountability.

Our leadership commitments > I care, I trust, I listen, I own, I am bold - shape how we lead and work together.

With grit and passion, we focus on delivering innovation and expanding access to care.

We navigate our environment with agility and purpose, active listening and collaboration, to advance innovation and patient access to our treatments.

We believe that a healthier world is only possible when everyone feels empowered to thrive.

THERAPEUTIC AREAS: DRIVING ADVANCEMENTS IN VIROLOGY,

ONCOLOGY, AND INFLAMMATION

Gilead is advancing science across virology, oncology, and inflammation. We have 25+ marketed therapies, and the most robust and diverse pipeline in our history with 60 investigational products involving over 50 clinical programs, including 15 Phase 3 and 13 Phase 2 trials.

Virology

Gilead’s therapies have helped set new standards in HIV and viral hepatitis care, offering durable disease control and better outcomes for patients.

Our research explores new ways to fight viruses — targeting replication, restoring immune function, and developing therapies that can be rapidly deployed in future pandemics.

Oncology

Our cancer therapies are bringing new options to patients with difficult-to-treat cancers.

We’re expanding into solid tumors and combination treatments, guided by research that targets key genetic drivers of cancer and the immune system’s role in fighting them.

Through Kite, the global leader in cell therapy, we’re accelerating innovation and expanding access to personalized cancer care.

Inflammation

Our inflammation portfolio focuses on serious immunerelated diseases, including rare liver diseases and systemic disorders that affect multiple parts of the body.

Current therapies reflect our precision approach to targeting the immune system, while pipeline candidates aim for greater specificity and durability. We continue to advance this area through strategic partnerships and in-house innovation.

GILEAD’S LEGACY OF FIRSTS AND TRANSFORMATIONS

For nearly 40 years, Gilead has been at the forefront of tackling some of the world’s greatest public health challenges.

We helped transform HIV into a treatable, preventable, chronic condition for millions of people.

We developed the first cure for hepatitis C, helping to heal millions worldwide.

We developed the first and only treatment for hepatitis delta (HDV) and the first treatment for primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a chronic autoimmune liver disease.

We developed the first antiviral for COVID-19, helping to reduce the burden of the pandemic for tens of millions of people worldwide.

Our antibody-drug conjugate was the first ADC in its class to show meaningful survival benefit in two different types of metastatic breast cancer (mBC).

We transformed the cancer treatment landscape with our cutting-edge oncology portfolio.

Our WHO-designated essential antifungal treatment has been saving lives in resource-limited settings since 2010.

And we’re not done. Gilead is working to cure more viral diseases and certain cancers, while leading the charge to end the HIV epidemic.

ACCESS AND HEALTH EQUITY: PROGRESS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS

At Gilead, we define the value of our medicines by the impact they have on patients and society. We advance global health through equitable access, inclusive research, and responsible production.

For example, we:

Support underserved and underresourced communities through strategic partnerships and impactful programs across HIV, oncology, and public health.

Strengthen health systems through global programs that promote education, health resources, and financial support.

Price medicines to reflect the value they deliver to patients, healthcare systems and society.

Expand access in resource-limited settings through voluntary licensing — making therapies available across HIV, viral hepatitis, and COVID-19.

Provide philanthropic support — as one of the world’s leading funders of HIV initiatives, we’ve also awarded more than $35 million in oncology grants.

Advance inclusive research and embed DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) principles across our workforce and through community engagement.

Uphold environmental stewardship — setting ambitious goals and nearing 100% renewable electricity

Maintain strict environmental standards across our manufacturing and R&D facilities.

BEYOND MEDICINE: WE DON’T JUST WORK IN THE BENELUX — WE

SHOW UP FOR IT

Gilead cares deeply about making a difference in the world through its work and its employees, who live their purpose: to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.

We champion health equity and community engagement, working with local stakeholders to reduce stigma and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.

From HIV outreach in Suriname (northern South America), to STD prevention in Brussels, our grant and fellowship programs empower NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), hospitals, universities, and advocacy groups to expand access and elevate education for underserved communities and healthcare professionals.

We work with public health authorities and NGOs to promote early testing for HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C.

We co-create with communities to build health equity — from the Here We Are HIV magazine to TNBC (TripleNegative Breast Cancer) events and hepatitis screening campaigns.

We ensure diverse representation in clinical trials.

Our Kite Amsterdam CAR T facility operates with a zero carbon footprint.

We act locally — planting trees, cleaning rivers, and championing sustainability and health equity as part of our everyday culture.
