APPLICATION

• All grant and support requests will be assessed for innovation, feasibility and impact by an internal review committee.

• Gilead Sciences anticipates that this will be a highly AIM OF THE PROGRAM The Gilead Sciences Fellowship Program aims to grant financial support to quality-improving initiatives that improve patient care. We aim to support innovative projects that can enhance clinical practice and offer a direct advantage to patients in five disease areas: HIV, Viral hepatitis, Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Breast cancer, Hematological malignancies/Cell therapy.

By enabling new healthcare improving projects and collaborations - either at a local or national level in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg - Gilead Sciences aims to improve patient care, advance medical science and/or shape public health policy.

Please seek our advice on your ideas prior to submitting an application for the Gilead Sciences Fellowship program or in case of any questions.

• Applications can be submitted until 10 September 2026 (closing at midnight; applications after 10 September 2026 will not be taken into consideration). The final decision and communication regarding the awarded grants is anticipated for December 2026.

• Proposals must be submitted through the online Gilead portal (https://www.gilead.com/purpose/giving/fundingrequests/apply-europe). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Compliance and Transparency

• Your proposal and project shall at all times be compliant with all applicable local laws and regulations (including legislation on data protection and privacy).

• In case your request is granted in full or in part: • Gilead’s support shall be used exclusively for the project; • Gilead’s support shall not impose any obligation to promote or otherwise encourage or induce the prescription, recommendation, purchase, supply, sale or administration of its products or therapies;

• Gilead will disclose its support, pursuant to and in accordance with applicable law and/or ethics codes, on the designated platform.

• Fellowship recipients will be invited to present the (outcomes of) the project at Gilead’s Fellowship Exchange Meeting.

• Additional information and/or supporting documents can be uploaded via this portal as well.

CHECK IF YOUR PROJECT IS ELIGIBLE

GEOGRAPHY

Only project improving health care in Belgium, the Netherlands and/or Luxembourg will be supported.

The Fellowship Program focusses on a specific type of projects.

Please use the checklist below to see if your project fits the criteria.

SCOPE

TYPE OF PROJECT

The grant request must fall within one of the defined care gaps within the following therapeutic areas: HIV, Viral hepatitis (B, C, D), Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Breast cancer, Hematological malignancies / Cell therapy.

Funding is only allowed for costs not funded or not fully funded via other sources.

BUDGET OVERALL PATIENT BENEFIT

TIMELINES

Total funding may not exceed the total project budget and may not exceed 33% of annual operational turnover.

Projects must provide indirect or systemic patient benefit (e.g. improved care pathways, access, outcomes). No direct gifts or payments to individual patients are allowed.

Since Gilead aims to maximize direct support to project activities, overhead must be clearly and transparently described and are allowed up to a maximum of 12%.

Maximum project duration: 1 year. If the total project exceeds 1 year, please adjust the budget appropriatly that it only includes costs for 1 year.

Costs must occur within 12 months after contract execution. If projects are not started within 12 months after contract execution, the grant must be returned. Funding cannot be retrospective.

Interventional clinical trials as defined by the European Clinical Trials Regulation are excluded.

Observational studies or low‑interventional will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Quotations and/or rationale should be provided for budget items where appropriate.

EQUIPMENT

PATIENT POPULATION

Patient population selection must be clearly defined, and selection cannot be based on one specific product or molecule.

Projects may focus on vulnerable or high‑risk populations, equity, access to care, or patient‑reported outcomes.

No Gilead products or medicines will be provided or funded.

Travel costs, conference costs and publication costs will not be granted.

The projects must be innovative with the aim to improve patient care, quaility of care, healthcare and patient outcomes.

Trials investigating medicinal products/therapies and translational research are excluded.

A clear, transparent and justified budget, relevant to the project, is required.

PERSONNEL COSTS

Personnel costs are only acceptable if no other funding source exists. If hospital staff are involved, Gilead cannot fund their regular working time.

Gilead will not directly or indirectly employ personnel for the project.

Equipment costs must be project‑specific.

For equipment that will/can be used outside of the project, pro‑rata costing or leasing must be applied.

General operating equipment (e.g. laptops, tablets, standard medical equipment) is not eligible.

Equipment/ tools provided to patients for the project must be returned after the project completion.
