Recently Mr. Agaba shared with us quick and fast insights about the fresh foods delivery service industry in Uganda and the compe��ve advantage that his company brings to the table. Here below are the excerpts: Tell us about caroots as a fresh foods delivery service in uganda?

Caroots is a company that was founded on the principle of quality and convenience.To offer a solu�on for a clientele that finds it hard to access fresh groceries from the existent markets yet when they go to the supermarkets the prices are really super high.However that’s also not the only issue at hand we are all a busy lot that would like to focus on major issues of day to day life but s�ll want to keep healthy regardless. This is where caroots comes in. We have two ordering pla�orms that’s the mobile App found on play store or the website on caroots.ug Since joining this industry what business strides in form of impact to the end users have you registered?

Our clients have adopted to The while convenience and �me saving concept since most of them are the busy ones. In the long run however they’ve go�en to save money and fuel since we have online ordering pla�orms like the website and the mobile App currently on Google play store.

What sort of clients do you service?

As long as you’re busy and you understand how this service works and how it can save you a lot then we are here for you. Caroots will serve you.

How do you best describe the uniqueness of your company from other industry players?

I can say we are the cheapest so far since we offer real market prices and a fair delivery charge. We have also priori�sed on quality and �me management before anything.

What are some of the challenges as much as bo�le necks that have come your way from the �me of your incep�on to date?

Adaptability to E-commerce….most people here haven’t really understood yet the benefits of using e-commerce as a way to simplify their lives. I want to applaud those who have taken it on as a way of life.

They know the benefits.. Were posi�ve others will jump in.

How many people do you employ and at what level has your company tackled the issue of unemployment among the youth?

Currently our team consists of 5 people in total and we see that there’s need for more resource not so far from now. Every day our clientele is growing meaning we need people not machines to serve them.

Every business thrives on innova�on, and crea�vity.

Thus what are some of the innova�ons and crea�ve concepts that make your business disc�nc�ve?

Let me just say this, business and technology are married. In a nutshell there are some concepts that I can’t discuss here for obvious reasons.

What role do you think the government of Uganda ought to play in order to ensure growth in your sector?

Government needs to try and solve the issue of high tariffs on internet from providers to make it affordable for everyone to easily access internet anywhere and at high speeds.

Secondly, if government promoted use of ICT as a way of simplifying people’s lives then that’s a thumbs up for them. People will understand that life can be lived much easier going through the usual hustled and bustles.

Panya Panya:Introduces Chatbot Technology in Uganda To Ease Business Interac�ons

Sco� carey of tech world, argues that Tech giants like facebook and microso� can't stop talking about Chatbot right now.

Whether we like or not (adds sco� carey), 2016 has been the year we all came to know the chatbot.

The transi�on from obscure tech to buzzword, to leading the news agenda arrived when microso� launched Tay in march.

And in April 2016, Facebook announced that businesses will now be able to provide chatbots to deliver automated customer support via its messenger service.

According to wikipedia, a chatbot(also known as a talkbot/an ar�ficial conversa�on en�ty) is a computer program which conducts a convers�on via auditory or textual methods.

On the otherhand, sco� carey's tech world defines a chatbot as a piece of so�ware that is designed to automate a specific task.

Delivering this task around a single func�on, namely chat or simulated conversa�on.

One of the unique features of a chatbot is its ability to mimic human conversa�on, and react to spoken or wri�en prompts to deliver services.

Its essen�ally a user interface which can be plugged into a APIs so it can deliver informa�on or services on demand.

In uganda, a country where the greatest popula�on is fastly becoming technologically savvy.

The chatbot technology has been pioneered by Panya which means shortcut is using the chatbot technology as a pla�orm to help small uganda firms to market and sell their products to an increasingly mobile and convienence oriented middle class which is currently es�mated at 1m people(WB.2015).

By using chatbot technology panya is offering an appropriate technology and support system alterna�ve that allows firms and consumers to connect and transanct in an easy, low-data, and straight forward manner.

Local Firms and consumers have been opera�ng in a digital disconnnect due to low skill levels by small business managers, the high development costs of websites, and applica�ons,the high marke�ng cost to reach new customers online and the poor adap�on of exis�ng solu�ons to the local context needs in uganda.

However due to Panya's introduc�on of its chatbot pla�orm the aforemen�oned digital disconnect between local firms and consumers is slowly becoming non-existent.

Before its official launch on the 28th October 2016, panya had spend over six months developing and trial tes�ng various chatbot orientated services which will ensure very li�le data usage when compared to apps or websites.

And these services include: ordering on Uber, hiring ve�ed carpenters, finding kampala's best night life, buying fashion, ge�ng groceries and deliveries, and much more without leaving your favorite applica�ons.

Con�nues to be commi�ed towards the concept of the African Schools Debate league/ the ba�les of Gi�ed Tongues because it works where other solu�ons have failed-to improve secondary literacy, academic performance, and high school gradua�on rates-to prepare students for university by helping them achieve university-readiness benchmarks in reading, English, math and science-to prepare students for twenty-first century careers by helping them master important skills: cri�cal thinking and problem solving; communica�on; collabora�on; and crea�vity and innova�on-to prepare students for community engagement by ins�lling a life-long interest in speaking out on issues that affect their communi�es With the objec�ve of equipping the young African Academic popula�on with the Libera�on of Empowerment to define, determine and affirm the des�ny of Sunkist mother Africa and the world.

Through the means of an intellectual deba�ng paideia which has got to do with the deep forma�on of a�en�on, forma�on, educa�on, and cul�va�on. So that young Africa can be able to tap into the uniqueness of global cri�cal thinking, global effec�ve communica�on, and global par�cipa�on in decision making processes.

The Ba�le of Gi�ed Tongues also seeks to par�cularly to avail various opportuni�es for young Africans to develop reading, wri�ng, and speaking skills: to groom, and empower an ac�on orientated genera�on of African young academics with a global outlook.

To ins�tu�onalize Africa’s young mindsets so that they can be able to think, act, envision, and lead Africa into her dreamland, and to offer Africa’s young academic popula�on an educa�ve ac�vity which also brings the joyful sa�sfac�on of a healthy compe��on.

Favor is much akin to a protec�ve gear to the one who has been chosen , selected and anointed of God. Before Isreal was given a king there was being governed by God's chosen, selected, and anointed judges if not prophets.

Other na�ons in the universe were governed by enslaving kings hence the people of God were being governed by an element of uniqueness because God loves uniqueness, difference, and extra-ordinarity.

The thing that made the na�on of Isreal so unique was the manner in which they where being governed in reference to how other na�ons of the world were being governed.

God as king over his very people (isreal) was governing with mercy, love, pa�ence, kindness, charity and self control.

Uniqueness 1 Samuel 16-14 King Saul was chosen, selected, and anointed through the acknowledgement of the God of Isreal.

The essence of the aforemen�oned statement is of such that Saul was chosen, selected and anointed by prophet samuel to be the king of God on behalf of Isreal.

Essen�ally, before anything else Saul was supposed to be the God-chosen king before the na�on of Isreal.

This is fundamentally and analy�cally important because it means that Saul was not going to make any choice inclined upon his desires let alone the desire of the people of Isreal but every choice he was to execute was going to be en�rely inclined upon the desires of the God who chose, selected and anointed him.

Hence when God tells prophet Samuel in 1 samuel 16-1, that he has rejected saul, the rejec�on is seemingly as a result of the fact that saul had fundamentaly failed to execute his kingly du�es a�er the will, desire and instruc�on of God. The moment saul failed to execute his kingly du�es according to the will of the God who made him king then the favor of God upon his life was replaced by rejec�on.

Once a man who has been favored by God loses the favor of God upon his life, his ac�ons thereof shall be worse than the one who has never known no favor of God at all.

Had saul walked as a king a�er the will and desires of God then God would not have rejected him.

However when the people of lsreal demanded for a king as other na�ons what they were ignorantly doing was to defy and defile God's principle of uniqueness.

God 's principle of uniqueness argues that his people whom he has chosen, selected, and anointed for himself must always bear a striking character of difference, oddness and varia�on compared to the rest of the people with whom they endure with in the universe.

As a people chosen, selected, and anointed of God the character that you bear should be supernaturally foreign , and spiritually unique.

The character that you bear should be excellently far more a class in its own right because it follows a�er the desires and liking of God in a specific �me frame.

To maintain the sacred nature of his chosen, selected, and anointed people a�er they demanded to have a human king over them to resemble other na�ons, God made sure that the duty of who ought to be king over his people was his own not the duty of the people.

The chosing, selec�ng , and anoin�ng of Isreal's king was not going to be the duty of the people but the duty of God because the king of Isreal was going to be not only the people's king but he was firstly going to be God's king because his power and mandate over God's people was going to be given unto him by God. The uniqueness of God's people is based on the fact that every thing they do is for God's glory and hence forth the people of God are chosen, selected, and anointed to be effec�ve at nothing but to execute God's will with high level execellence and effec�veness.

To be unique is the desire of God for the life of you to the degree that even when you open your mouth to speak whatever flows out of your mouth thereof should be the desires of God. And if you find yourself with nothing to u�er in line with the desires of God then keeping your mouth shut is nothing but the best op�on inorder to be in a posi�on which fulfills the mandate of God for life of you.

lnotherwards, keeping your mouth shut when you have nothing to say in line with Godly desires makes you fundamentally unique in a world where people speak and open their mouth only when they are ready to express their personal desires if not their sensual percep�ons.

The world was set back almost 100 years a�er the event of the holocust because all the men of God(the jews) that perished in the holocust possesed a degree of divine uniqueness whose mandate was to advance the world.

In 1 Samuel 16:13, David stood there among his brothers, samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with oil.

In spending �me in the divine presence of God Almighty, we set ourselves to engage in a process of divine interac�on, a process which gives birth a product of divine uniqueness in our lives.

And the spirit of the Lord God came powerfully upon David from that day.

In otherwards talking to God is a process that plays out on the field called pa�ence .

In otherwards once God choses, selects and anoints you, the spirit of the Lord God comes powerfully upon you and every now and then the spirit of God comes powerfully upon you then the uniqueness of your life will fundamentally come to bear.

The more you endure this process, the more degree of divine uniqueness shall you posses in order to be in a posi�on to carry out du�es that will change the en�re world for be�er.

Without the spirit of God upon your life then its u�erly impossible to maximise your uniqueness as per the will and desire of God.

Finally, its interes�ng to note that before the na�on of Isreal demanded to have a king like other na�ons have, their uniqueness in God was far from being defiled.

The greatest asset for the life of you is the uniqueness of God for the life of you.

And because their uniqueness was far from being defiled, the na�on of Isreal 's level of in�macy with God was ever intensely high.

Each human existence is designed to reflect the uniqueness of God Alnighty.

However the moment the na�on of Isreal defiled its uniqueness in God, their level of in�macy with God become intensely very low.

Once the uniqueness of God walks out of the doors of your life, the aforemen�oned experience is indica�ve of losng the power of the spirit of God upon your life.

Inotherwards, the intensity of your in�macy with God is maintained by your uniqueness in God.

The moment the uniqueness of God is lost in your life, other elements such as:mediocrity, normalcy, and uniformity of mind and disposi�on begin to take root.

The moment you lose your unique nature in God so will you lose your in�macy with God. The uniqueness of one's existence is what changes the world.

And before you know it, they wont be a difference between you and the rest of the world.

Uniformity in character and behaviour has never been the will and desire of God.

When God was looking for a king from among the sons of Jesse, he chose David because David possesed specimens of unique capacity and possibility.

Uniformity in the manner of one's opera�on has never been the order of God Almighty.

God did not chose, select and anoint none of David's brothers because they were so uniform in their nature.

God spoke to Prophet Isiah and decreed,"Behold i do a new thing........"

Hence God is more interested in doing a new thing in the life of the man that he has cul�vated in�macy with, and everything that God does carries with itself a degree of divine uniqueness that has got the propensity to advance the world.

Every man of God has got the moral duty to do some thing incredible inorder to advance the en�re world.

And the substance that is going to change and advance the world is embedded in the uniqueness of God upon your life.

A uniqueness that came to bear a�er the spirit of God came upon your life.

The spirit that came upon you a�er being chosen, selected, and anointed of the lord your God.

They all possesed elements and specimens that were iden�cal and uniform to one another.

And with that understanding allow me to boldy state that God does not chose, select and anoint from uniformity but from uniqueness.

Its u�erly impossible to go away without saying that the headquarters of God in an individual's life are based on the premises of that par�culr individual's uniqueness.

Once you discover your uniqueness then you have discovered the gi� of God in your life.

The spirit of uniqueness is the very spirit of God Almighty in your life.

On the 24th September 2016 the visionary and founder of Sawa World Daphne Nederhorst sat down with us to tell us about her passion during an event she organized through her organiza�on called Sawa World-solu�ons from within.

Tell us a li�le aboutyourself and where the concept of sawa world originated from?

I was born in Holland but i grew up in Tanzania, i was very lucky because mum and dada were working in Interna�onal Aid and i got a chance to see very many different areas.

As a young child i wanted to make a difference so growing up in Tanzania seeing poverty and even though i was not in poverty i wanted to do some thing about it.

Have played cricket for 10 years -Where has your love for cricket emanate from"" Got my the love for the sport from my elders brothers who later on quite playing the sport -Which position do you play on the field?

Aright hand batsman who once in awhile dose wicket keeping -How many imternational games have you played for uganda?

I have played 3 international games for Uganda and other that are not international like over 10 -And how many countries has cricket taken you? cricket has moved me to 3 countries like Kenya,Malaysia and Zimbabwe..

And secondly, i believe i was born with a passion to help and its my gi� to not see any one suffer and to help people realize their full poten�al.Hence from age seven i was determined to change the world.From age seven my passion has been to help others and give others a chance to live with equity. Whether in Uganda, Japan, or Holland. The main idea should be that no one suffers and he is able to grasp the solu�ons with in themselves and around them.

How long has sawa world been in uganda?

We came in Uganda in 2011 but we have been on other different countries since 2007(11 countries in par�cular) and Uganda is our focus country. We want to make it really strong here and spark it to the rest of the world.

Why par�cularly Uganda?

Uganda is the strongest partner more people speak english, its stable, and it works out easy here.How much impact has Sawa World recorded i Uganda?

We have reached 35,000 youth with over 110 different workshop and events close to half of the people we have reached have replicated a skill to help change their lives.They have been able to shi� their income �om one dollar a day to 4 dollars a day.
