Forty years have gone by fast. They’ve been intense, exciting and very gratifying. We’ve learned many things in this time. Especially from our mistakes. Las personas somos curiosas por naturaleza. No podemos evitarlo. Es instintivo, innato y, en muchos casos, inevitable. Edmund Burke decía que “la primera y más simple emoción que descubrimos en la mente humana es la curiosidad”. Y muy probablemente sea cierto. La curiosidad es el motor que nos hace avanzar, ilusionarnos y superarnos.
A nosotros nos ha permitido descubrir caminos y oportunidades que no sospechábamos. Nos ha llevado a colaborar con universidades, laboratorios científicos, diseñadores, artistas o arquitectos entre otros. Nos ha permitido crear materiales nuevos, más ligeros, más resistentes y sostenibles. Nos ha llevado a experimentar con otros, todavía inexplorados. Nos ha llevado a recuperar técnicas del pasado. Pero, sobre todo, nos ha permitido explorar. Nos ha enseñado a atrevernos, engendrar la exploración, la investigación, y el aprendizaje.
People are curious by nature. We can’t avoid it. It’s instinctive and, in many cases, inevitable. Edmund Burke used to say that “the first and the simplest emotion which we discover in the human mind, is Curiosity”. And it’s almost certainly true. Curiosity is the motor that makes us progress, become inspired andoutdo ourselves.
It has allowed us to discover paths and opportunities that we never suspected existed. It has led us to collaborate with universities, scientific laboratories, designers, artists and architects, among others. It has allowed us to create new, lighter, stronger and more sustainable materials. It has led us to experiment with other, as yet unexplored, materials. It has led us to recover techniques from the past. But, above all, it has allowed us to explore. It has taught us to be daring, to foster exploration, research and learning.

Música, danza, dibujo, pintura, escultura, literatura… Desde sus orígenes la humanidad ha recurrido al arte como medio para expresar sus sentimientos y emociones.
En Bathco iniciamos hace cuatro años ya Bathco Atelier, un taller compuesto por artistas profesionales que ponen su expresión y conocimiento para realizar proyectos y productos “ad hoc”. Un espacio creativo en el que las disciplinas se entremezclan: diseño gráfico, pintura, modelado… y que nos permiten poner a disposición de arquitectos, diseñadores, decoradores e interioristas un talento inigualable.

El diseño curvado de los nuevos modelos Bathco proporciona un lavado sin salpicaduras a la vez que evita la formación de ángulos y esquinas donde la suciedad pueda acumularse, permitiendo una limpieza más cómoda y efectiva.
Rimless system upgrades the design of the toilet water distributor, enabling to discharge with more force and in more homogeneous way than before and therefore, improving the toilet hygiene. The curved design of the new Bathco models provides a splash-free wash while preventing the formation of areas where dirt can accumulate, allowing more comfortable and effective cleaning.

En el caso del lavabo Brest lo que parece metal, no lo es, pero integra a la perfección cualquier textura y aporta nuevos matices a la decoración de cualquier estancia. En los modelos Carnac y Rennes nos desprendemos de la idea de porcelana convencional para quedarnos con la calidez de la porcelana natural o gomosa dotando a los lavabos de una mayor originalidad.
In our eagerness to continue innovating, we have found a way to coat porcelain with textured metal finishes. In the case of the Brest washbasin, what looks like metal isn’t, but it blends in perfectly with any texture and adds fresh nuances to any room’s décor. In the Carnac and Rennes models, we let go of the idea of conventional porcelain to embrace the warmth of natural or rubberized porcelain to give the washbasins more originality.

En Bathco nos gusta replantear cada concepto y estudiar cada detalle para mejorar y evolucionar hacia un lavabo más eficiente y sostenible. Es por eso que hemos incorporado un nuevo diseño de embellecedor en silicona para el rebosadero, ya que en los lavabos tradicionales al tratarse de un orificio el interior del mismo no puede esmaltarse, por lo que con el tiempo la humedad puede aparecer. Gracias a este nuevo accesorio proporcionamos al lavabo una mayor higiene y durabilidad.
Bathco is always willing to rethink each concept and study every detail to improve and evolve towards a more efficient and sustainable washbasin. That is why we have incorporated a new design of silicone overflow cover, since the orifice is traditionally located in the interior of the basin and cannot be glazed, so after a long time use the humidity can appear. COLLABORATION
Se nos presentó la oportunidad de formar parte de la exposición itinerante “Titanic, The Reconstruction” y para ello reprodujimos los baños de los camarotes de primera y segunda clase del transatlántico. Tras meses de intensa investigación y desarrollo, y valiéndonos de antiguas fotografías y planos de 1912 aportados por la Fundación Titanic, el equipo de Bathco desarrolló la réplica oficial de los lavabos y complementos del “buque de los sueños”. Una colección que ha permitido recuperar el glamour de aquella época para ponerlo a tu alcance.
We were presented with the opportunity to be part of the travelling exhibition “Titanic, The Reconstruction”, and to do so we reproduced the bathrooms of the first- and second-class cabins of the transatlantic ocean liner. After months of intensive research and development, using old photographs and plans from 1912 provided by the Titanic Foundation, the Bathco team developed the official replica of the washbasins and accessories of the “ship of dreams”. A collection that made it possible to recover the glamour of that era to put it within your reach.

JAVIER
Javier Mariscal es un ilustrador y artista de reconocimiento internacional que ha colaborado con algunas de las marcas más destacadas del mundo del diseño. Ha recibido algunos de los premios más prestigiosos del mundo del diseño y su obra ha sido expuesta en algunos de los museos más importantes del mundo, como en el Design Museum de Londres. En esta ocasión Javier ha creado unas ilustraciones en exclusiva para Bathco, que dan lugar a una serie que se expresa a través de un lenguaje personal, complejo en su intención y sencillo en su manifestación.
Javier Mariscal is a world-renowned illustrator and artist who has collaborated with some of the most prominent brands in the design world. He has received some of the most prestigious awards in the design world, and his work has been exhibited in some of the most important museums in the world, such as London’s Design Museum. On this occasion, Javier has created a group of exclusive illustrations for Bathco that give rise to a series that expresses itself through a personal language that is complex in its intentions and simple in its manifestation.

DAVID
David Delfín (1970-2017) fue un diseñador de moda y artista español que despuntó en el panorama internacional gracias a la colección “Cour des miracles” inspirada en el pintor Magritte y en el director de cine Luis Buñuel. Delfín destacó por ser un provocador de emociones que utilizando su sensibilidad e inteligencia, se convirtió en una de las personalidades más carismáticas de la moda española desde que en 2002 debutase en la pasarela Cibeles. Aquella primera colección, en la que las modelos lucían cuerdas y capuchas, forma parte ya de la historia del diseño patrio, como también el diseñador, a quien en 2016 le otorgaron el Premio Nacional de Diseño de Moda.
David Delfín (1970-2017) was a Spanish fashion designer and artist who gained prominence on the international scene thanks to his “Cour des miracles” collection, which was inspired by the painter René Magritte and the film director Luis Buñuel. Delfín stood out for being a provocateur of emotions who, using his sensitivity and intelligence, became one of the most charismatic personalities in Spanish fashion following his début on the Cibeles catwalk in 2002. That first collection, in which the models wore ropes and hoods, now forms part of Spanish design history, like the designer himself, who in 2016 was the recipient of the country’s National Fashion Design Award.

En Bathco estamos recuperando antiguos procesos artesanales de la decoración de la cerámica. Y gracias a ello todos los lavabos de la colección Deco tienen también un carácter único e irrepetible, puesto que cada pieza está transferida a mano por los artesanos de nuestro taller, reforzando así el valor de lo “hecho a mano”. Los decorados de la colección son diversos y para todos los gustos, pasando por lavabos de autor como son las series de Javier Mariscal o David Delfín, hasta piezas más sobrias como pueden ser los de aspecto de mármol, terrazo o los craquelés; o las divertidas viñetas de cómic para los baños más atrevidos.
At Bathco, we are reviving traditional artisanal processes of ceramic design. And, as a result, all the washbasins in the Deco collection also have a unique and unrepeatable character, because each piece is transferred by hand by the artisans at our workshop, reinforcing our value of “madeby-hand”. The decorative elements of the collection are diverse and appeal to all tastes, encompassing signature washbasins like the Javier Mariscal and David Delfín series, more sober pieces made of marble or terrazzo or with craquelé effects, or the amusing comic strips for the most irreverent bathrooms.

El tallado de piedra ha tenido lugar en todas las etapas de la historia, en todas las culturas y en todos los países y pueblos del mundo, en campos como la arquitectura, la escultura, la decoración o la joyería. Tiene mucho que ver que la piedra es el material que mejor se conserva. La colección Stone es un paso más en esa concepción y propone piezas naturales que aportan distinción y belleza y que oscilan entre el negro y el beige, el mármol y el granito, con posibilidad de diferentes acabados, como el pulido a bujarda o los estriados.
Stone carving has had a place in all historical periods and has been used by all cultures, countries and peoples of the world in fields like architecture, sculpture, decoration and jewellery. This has a great deal to do with the fact that stone is the most durable material. The Stone collection takes that concept one step further and proposes natural pieces that add distinction and beauty, oscillating between black and beige, marble and granite, with the possibility of varied finishes, like bush hammered or striated.

Los lavabos de resina ofrecen un tacto y una dureza difícil de superar. Están compuestos por resinas con cargas minerales tintadas en masa y con una capa final de Gel Coat de calidad sanitaria. Este material es antibacteriano, resistente al agua, a los rayos UV y a las manchas; creado especialmente para conferir acabados lisos y brillantes de alta calidad que permite crear superficies perfectas con cantos definidos. Su resistencia a los impactos y al rayado es de media a alta, siendo posible reparar rayones y rasguños.
Resin washbasins offer a texture and hardness that is hard to beat. They are composed of resins with mineral fillers tinted in the paste stage and finished with a coat of sanitary-grade Gel Coat. This material is anti-bacterial, resistant to water, UV rays and stains, and was created specifically to produce high-quality, smooth, glossy finishes that make it possible to achieve perfect surfaces with defined edges. Their resistance to impact and scratching is moderate to high, enabling repair of scuff marks and scratches.

En los años 20 y 30 era lo más “chic” del momento, décadas después se asoció con una decoración más industrial o “underground” y ahora, el metal ha llegado para quedarse de la forma más democrática posible. Democrática porque se adapta a todo tipo de ambientes ya sea con aire vintage o trasgresor, cañero o minimalista. Bathco propone baños donde el acero, el aluminio o el zinc se mezclan con materiales nobles como la madera o la piedra.
