2026 WALTON MUSIC NEW RELEASES
from the editor
It is one of my favorite times of year: the time that I sit in my office and listen to the recordings of the new Walton editions as they will appear on the Soundcloud playlist. Although I have been immersed in this music for much of the year, it is at this moment that I truly begin to realize the expanse of the artistry of our composers, the skill of the choirs that have performed the music so beautifully, and the foresight of the conductors who commissioned and performed these new works––bringing them to life. How fortunate we all are to work and play in this profession.
This new release features composers from nine different countries (Australia, China, Estonia, France, Korea, Latvia, Poland, South Africa, and the United States), music in twelve different languages (Bosnian to isiZulu and everything in between), and performances by some of the world’s most magnificent choirs (the Incheon City Chorale, Vox Femina Los Angeles, the Handel and Haydn Society, Atlanta Master Chorale, and the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, just to name a few).
This year, we are launching two new choral series, the Joe Miller Choral Series and Echoes from the World: A Daily Choirs Choral Series, which promise to bring incredibly unique new music to our choral repertoire. (Read more on page 5.)
Music connects us––to those in our rehearsal rooms and to people across the world. This year, we all have an opportunity––and a responsibility––to bring light and connection to a world in much need of it. We hope that this new release of music will aid you in these efforts and that it will be a strong source of inspiration to you.
