Success Through Adversity
Coming into the 2024-25 Glendale Girls’ Volleyball season, the program experienced a major change. They graduated 9 seniors in the past year, leaving only one returning varsity player, Emma Hawkins (12). Alongside two new coaches, Head Coach Stieb looks to keep the same work ethic and dedication no matter the circumstance. “Play every game like it’s your last and show your passion on the court,“ said JV coach Winzen. The Lady Falcons reached an achievement of 11 in season wins, along with 3rd place in the Strafford Tournament, and 1st Place in Silver in the Mt. Vernon Tournament. Not only has the team created a new dynamic and structure of togetherness, but Glendale athletics also moved up to the COC making this season additionally competitive, which made it even more vital for the girls to build a team bond on and off the court. It was a contest against one of those new conference foes that Elle Givens (10) said that her favorite moment from this season. “Winning the Republic game,” Givens said. “It was a very competitive, fun game.“

Ava Underwood (10), a defensive specialist for the team, shared that “holding my platform for a pass,” is very important to her when playing.


Zone in
Senior Emma Hawkins is a third year returning varsity player and the head floor captain. She is a 6 rotation player setting and hitting on the rightside. When asked about this season, Emma stated “ We have made substantial proress this year and it has been so fun to grow with the new team and be a leader for them too.”
