Success Through Adversity

Coming into the 2024-25 Glendale Girls’ Volleyball season, the program experienced a major change. They graduated 9 seniors in the past year, leaving only one returning varsity player, Emma Hawkins (12). Alongside two new coaches, Head Coach Stieb looks to keep the same work ethic and dedication no matter the circumstance. “Play every game like it’s your last and show your passion on the court,“ said JV coach Winzen. The Lady Falcons reached an achievement of 11 in season wins, along with 3rd place in the Strafford Tournament, and 1st Place in Silver in the Mt. Vernon Tournament. Not only has the team created a new dynamic and structure of togetherness, but Glendale athletics also moved up to the COC making this season additionally competitive, which made it even more vital for the girls to build a team bond on and off the court. It was a contest against one of those new conference foes that Elle Givens (10) said that her favorite moment from this season. “Winning the Republic game,” Givens said. “It was a very competitive, fun game.“

A Crucial Skill

Ava Underwood (10), a defensive specialist for the team, shared that “holding my platform for a pass,” is very important to her when playing.
