Halliburton Foundation’s 9th Annual When Plano Event Center on September 12. This year Tarrant, Ellis, Denton, and Grayson counties. Attendees heard four featured speakers throughout the day-long conference, including motivational speaker Tonier Cain, author of Healing Neen: One Woman’s Path to Salvation from Trauma and Addiction. Other featured speakers included Lori G. Cook, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, director of clinical research for the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas, who spoke about increased teen brain potential and resilience. Jeff Temple, Ph.D., director of behavioral health and research at The University of Texas Medical Branch, discussed risky behaviors among adolescents, including substance misuse, violence, sexual risk-taking, and sexting. Vanita Halliburton trained attendees on adolescent stress, mental health, suicide prevention, and other issues facing youth today.
