A message from our Executive General Manager - Australia

As Executive General Manager of GHD’s Australia Business, I have the privilege of connecting with many of our people, as well as representatives from our external partners, who consistently demonstrate remarkable passion and resilience in championing inclusion and diversity.

For me, it’s a powerful reminder of the important role I can play as a leader to listen, support and help evolve our organisation - and our industry - to meet the needs of a modern workforce. It’s one of the reasons I was proud to add my name this year as a WGEA Pay Equity Ambassador and continue to be a member of Consult Australia’s Champions of Change Coalition. And as Chair of GHD’s Inclusion & Diversity Committee, I’m regularly reminded of just how much there is to learn and improve in our ability to relate to and support a diverse range of people and perspectives. There are always opportunities to do more.

To this end, I believe everyone at GHD can be rightfully proud of the progress made this year to build and maintain an inclusive culture, a culture of belonging where we all feel we can be our authentic selves without being judged other than on the quality of our work. Whilst we are making progress, we must continue our focus on inclusion, and this includes supporting a culture with zero tolerance of gender-based harassment and discrimination, sexual harassment and bullying.

2022 included many highlights. For example, we were delighted to form an exciting new partnership with Out for Australia, an inspiring organisation that provides role models, mentors, events and support to aspiring LGBTQIA+ professionals. We launched a new Hybrid/Remote Work Policy to better foster a work environment focused on wellbeing, flexibility and productivity. We introduced our first e-learning module as an introduction to LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and in July, we celebrated our Australia Business exceeding our national Indigenous procurement target for the second financial year in a row. We were also awarded the Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Best Practice standard by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. And our enterprise established a global accessibility working group (AWG) to help create a more accessible environment within GHD for people with disabilities.

I’m delighted to share details of these and many other highlights in our 2022 Inclusion & Diversity Annual Report. Once again I’d like to thank everyone at GHD and our various industry partners and clients for their ongoing support.

“It’s a powerful reminder of the important role I can play as a leader to listen, support and help evolve our organisation and our industry to meet the needs of a modern workforce.”
