When you’re climbing steep singletrack, accelerating on fast and flowy trails, or committing to big moves on technical terrain, power matters. Weight matters, too. Those two factors combined, the power-to-weight ratio, play a major role in how an E-MTB performs on the trail.

That’s the main idea behind the all-new Trance X Advanced E+ Elite, the lightest full-power E-bike in the world.

This versatile new E-bike is powered by a proven SyncDrive Pro 2 motor that delivers 85Nm of pedaling support. The motor shape is optimized to work with Giant’s Maestro rear suspension system. This is the same powertrain ridden to multiple national championships and EWS-E podiums by Josh Carlson of the Giant Factory Off-Road Team.

Now, with the introduction of the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite, this full-power SyncDrive Pro 2 system is powering a significantly lighter weight E-bike. While most lightweight E-MTBs have a reduced motor output—limited by smaller batteries to achieve lower overall weights—the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite features a breakthrough battery cell technology that was developed specifically for E-bike usage. The EnergyPak 400 uses higher volume cells that make it possible to have a full-power motor with a battery that’s half the size of previous generatyeions.

The electronics can be controlled in multiple ways. The first is the RideControl Go console, cleanly integrated into the top tube with an on/off button and colored LED lights to indicate support mode and battery level. The button can also be used to change assist modes. In addition, the Ergo 3 remote is integrated with the handlebar grips. With three buttons and a minimalist design, it can be installed on either the left or right side and configured to the rider’s personal preferences. Adjustments can also be made using the RideControl App—which gives riders the ability to customize the motor performance for their individual needs.

Beyond the motor and electronics, the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite features proven Maestro rear suspension, with 140mm of rear travel for smooth control on rugged singletrack terrain. Combined with a 150mm suspension fork and a mixed wheel build—a larger 29-inch front for stability and roll-over capabilities, and a 27.5-inch rear for agility on the trail—it’s an ideal setup that balances responsive handling with confidence and control.

The full carbon frameset features progressive trail geometry including a slightly slacker head tube. It’s specifically designed to improve confidence and control with the added weight of an E-MTB, but without compromising agility. And the geometry, including the head angle and seat tube angle, can be adjusted with a flip chip that’s located on the rear suspension linkage.

LIGHTER WEIGHT

This is the lightest full-suspension E-MTB ever from Giant. With an all-new, lighter weight EnergyPak battery system, it shaves a full 4kg (9 pounds off the previous generation, which completely transforms performance on the trail. The new Trance X Advanced E+ Elite 0 weighs 18.8kg (41 pounds in a size medium.

The lighter overall weight, combined with a full power SyncDrive Pro 2 motor system that delivers 85Nm of pedaling support, means you can attack the most challenging climbs and technical terrain with greater agility and control. From step-up ledges to chunky rock gardens, riders can push the limits of what’s possible.

Much of the weight savings is in the new EnergyPak 400 battery, which was co-developed with Panasonic and weighs just 2.7kg (5.07 lb). That’s close to half the weight of those used in previous generation Giant E-MTBs. At the core of this new battery system, the first in the world created specifically for E-bikes, is a new 22700 cell type that makes it possible to pair a full-power motor with a battery that’s half the size. The system uses a total of 20 cells, the same as most lightweight E-bikes, but these larger cells have a higher discharge capacity. Their unique size and chemistry are designed to assure that they stay cooler, which means less stress on the system and a longer total lifecycle.

The frameset and components of the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite are also engineered to minimize weight without compromising stiffness, strength and off-road durability. From the full composite frameset, which is made with Advanced-grade composite material, to the innovative Contact SLR Trail integrated one-piece handlebar/stem unit, every component is optimized for lightweight performance.

ADVANCED COCKPIT CONTROL

The all-new Contact SLR Trail integrated handlebar/stem unit offers adjustability, compliance, light weight and a clean, simple profile. Weighing just 255 grams, it has all the advantages of a one-piece bar and stem but with the adjustability of a conventional setup. Riders can set it to their desired stem length (40mm, 45mm or 50mm) and rotate the bar to achieve the angle they want.

A proprietary carbon fiber layup and slimmer profile near the center of the handlebar adds compliance. This helps absorb shocks and vibrations, reducing arm pump and improving hand comfort on rugged terrain. Cables are routed through the headset for a clean look, while an additional frame port provides the option to add accessories such as lights with tidy wiring.

There are two control centers on the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite. The RideControl Go button, which is cleanly integrated into the top tube of the frameset, allows riders to quickly and easily turn the power on and off and switch between power modes. Colored LED lights indicate the battery level and support mode.

The second control unit, the new RideControl Ergo 3, is integrated with the handlebar grips. The grips that come on the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite are size-specific and tapered for ergonomic comfort. (The control units can also be used with any replacement grip.) Each remote has three buttons that can be set up for personal preference. The remote can be mounted on either side of the handlebar, and there’s an option to add a second Ergo 3 and have buttons on each side of the bar to control features such as walk-assist mode or lights.

The new SyncDrive Pro 2 is the most powerful motor in the Giant E-bike lineup. With a hill-crushing 85Nm of torque and a 400 percent support ratio, it delivers a dynamic ride experience on all types of terrain. Whether you’re spinning up long, sustained climbs or applying quick bursts of power at low speeds on technical terrain, you get instant engagement that feels smooth and natural.

The motor is optimized for the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite and weighs only 2.7kg (5.95lb). It has an automatic adaptive support mode called Smart Assist technology that uses six sensors to determine the precise amount of power needed while riding variable terrain. Smart Assist also maximizes battery efficiency, and because it delivers a precise and efficient level of support, it helps the rider conserve energy.

The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite motor can also be tuned through the RideControl app. This allows riders the ability to customize the SyncDrive Pro 2 motor to optimize efficiency & control or give it some extra punch to make it up that steep climb. The app lets you custom-tune all 5 on-demand modes. Custom motor tuning includes: Rider input support ratio % levels, torque power output, and Torque acceleration timing (Launch control) exactly how you like.

High Performance Grade raw carbon fiber is used to produce custom composite material in our composite factory. Extremely lightweight, stiff and compliant, these handcrafted frames feature the following materials and processes.

SYNCDRIVE PRO 2

The Trance X Advanced E+ Elite comes with the newest iteration of the SyncDrive Pro 2 motor. Co-developed with Yamaha, it has a compact shape, and at just 2.7kg (5.95lb) it’s lighter than the previous generation motor. It delivers increased torque output (85Nm with reduced noise levels while retaining its instant engagement. The compact design also allows a narrow Q factor, which ensures a natural pedaling position with minimal strain on the knees.

INSTANT RESPONSE

ENERGYPAK SMART 400

This integrated 400Wh battery system is purpose-built for the specific needs of E-bike usage. At the core of this new technology is the groundbreaking new 22700 cell type, which vastly outperforms those used in more common off-the-shelf battery systems.

The numbers refer to the physical size of the lithium-ion cells. With increased density, reduced weight, and a higher volume that helps it run cooler, the new 22700 cell is ideally suited to the demands of high-performance E-bikes. Built with a sturdy aluminum casing, the EnergyPak Smart 400 is rated for safety and impact resistance according to the highest test standards in the industry. This new system also marks the launch of CO2 neutral battery production. As part of its commitment to reducing the environmental impact of battery usage and production, Giant has taken a leadership position as the first manufacturer to use E-bike batteries from a CO2 neutral plant.

RIDECONTROL GO

This all-new multipurpose control button is integrated into the top tube of the Trance X Advanced E+ Elite. It features an on/off button and colored LED lights to indicate support mode and battery level. With RideControl Go, there is no need for external wiring or additional handlebar-mounted control units.

SUPPORT RATIO

You choose exactly how you want your SyncDrive motor to perform. You can use the app to adjust from the battery-saving Eco mode all the way up to Power mode, which delivers up to four times the power you put into the pedals.

TORQUE

You can adjust torque for your riding style and terrain. To maximize efficiency and preserve battery life, you can dial down the torque within each support mode. For more punchy acceleration, turn up the torque right from your smart phone.

LAUNCH CONTROL

The launch control features 7 settings, from controlled to aggressive. You might choose a lower level, which can take up to 2.5 seconds to achieve full torque, in low-traction situations. If you’re riding grippy terrain and want an instant response, the highest setting produces maximum torque in just a few milliseconds.

RIDECONTROL ERGO 3

This updated control system features clean buttons that are integrated with the handlebar grips, making it easy to switch power modes. You can install the three-button control on the left or right side and even add a second control on the other side. Using the RideControl App, riders can configure it to their own personal preferences.

SMART ASSIST

Smart Assist is an automatic adaptive support mode. This intelligent system uses six sensors and advanced algorithms to determine the optimum power support needed on variable terrain. Smart Assist also maximizes efficiency by not using unnecessary energy. And since it always delivers just the right amount of pedaling support, it also improves rider efficiency.

ADJUSTABLE GEOMETRY

A flip chip located on the Maestro rear suspension linkage allows riders to quickly adjust frame geometry to suit the terrain they are riding. The high position is recommended for slower, tighter, more technical terrain. It offers a steeper head angle for quick handling and a steeper seat tube angle to put the rider in a more aggressive climbing position. The low position is ideal for faster, more open terrain. It adjusts to a slacker head angle and places the front wheel a bit farther out in front of the rider for more confidence on steeper terrain. The low position also lowers the center of gravity, making the E-bike feel more stable at higher speeds.

High-performance grade raw carbon material is used to produce this custom frame material with a high stiffness-to-weight ratio. The front triangle is assembled and molded as one continuous piece in a proprietary manufacturing process called Modified Monocoque Construction.

Four strategically positioned pivot points and two linkages all work together to create a single floating pivot for the most active, efficient and independent suspension system on the trail.

7 SMART ASSIST

8 RIDECONTROL ERGO 3

New handlebar remote can be mounted on the left or right side for a clean cockpit layout. You also have the option to add a second remote, providing an additional three buttons. Configure the buttons with the RideControl app to fully customize your controls.
