INFANTS In Year 1 we have started our new topic of ‘Time Travellers’. In this topic we will be exploring significant events in history. As a hook for the new topic, Year 1 created a giant timeline in the corridor with their artwork on display for all to admire.

World Book Day was last week, and all of the students came dressed up as their favourite book characters. We read lots of books in class, took part in a reading snake and then admired all of the costumes during the parade. What a fantastic day!

JUNIORS It’s been a very busy term in 6GU, both inside and outside of the classroom! We would like to show our support for Nuha Kayani who has entered into a taekwondo tournament later this month. Nuha, who recently achieved her yellow-green belt, will be competing against other young people in Doha to win a place and trophy in the Aspire event. Best of luck, Nuha!

We would also like to wish Aaliyah Habib, our budding artist, lots of success in her upcoming drawing competition. Aaliyah will be creating some pieces on a ‘poison’ theme, rivalling other local talent in the hope of winning an iPad. Good luck, Aaliyah!

We would like to congratulate Maroushka Fernandes who recently performed in the annual concert of Qatar Music Academy. The prestigious concert showcases the academy’s young talent and all of their hard work in solo and group performances. Maroushka exhibited her violin skills amongst the Qatar Symphonic Youth Orchestra and was featured in an article in The Gulf Times!

Well done, Maroushka!

Finally, huge congratulations to Shaha Al Sulaiti, who placed 1st and 3rd in two recent kick boxing events. Shaha fought against boys and girls in her category to win a medal and two trophies! What an excellent result, Shaha!

SECONDARY IGCSE Year 11 Design Technology students have been hard at work with designing, developing ideas and creating prototypes for their final response to their contextual challenge. This is the first cohort for this subject and students have had an amazing two years learning new design skills, problem solving and learning how to create design solutions for a more efficient, environmentally friendly future.

Ayesha Hart, Head of the Creative Arts Department, says, “I have been blown away by the creativity this group have shown, the students have gone above and beyond, learning new skills to facilitate their designs. I wish them the best of luck in their final exams.�
