JUNIORS This has been an amazing term for Year 3 in ICT. The children have been learning touch-typing skills. Typing can help children strengthen literacy skills as well as enhance their performance across the school curriculum. Touch-typing skills also proves to be an useful skill for young new writers too. This is because it enhances the speed with which children type, meaning they have more time to spend thinking about ideas and improving the flow of a piece of writing. Being able to type without looking at the keyboard means that children can focus on the task in front of them, instead of getting distracted hunting for letters. When children practice touch typing, they are using muscle memory to manipulate the keyboard. Writing on a computer allows children to move words, paragraphs and sentences around without incurring multiple mistakes and neatness. The ability to edit and revise is an essential part of writing. Learning touch-typing at a young age has a great deal of added benefit, preparing children for longer and more complex writing assignments that will be required of them in later years.

SECONDARY English Learning Support Having completed the initial screening, students have now been divided into small groups. We are working to expand their vocabulary in a variety of topics. As well as this, we have been going through basic grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. This will help them with both their understanding in other subjects and production of written work. All the students have settled into their new groups with enthusiasm and a good work ethic. They seem to enjoy the extra attention they receive, and the fact that they are able to utilize online, interactive tasks and activities.
