INFANTS In the first couple of weeks, the children in Reception have been learning ‘All About Me’. All children have met their new class teachers and teaching assistants and played circle games to get to know each other a little bit more. During this time, the children participated in many activities which helped them to learn about new class rules and routines. Here are some snapshots of different activities from Recpetion classes: The children have been practising mindfulness and relaxation so they are calm and ready to learn! They explored different areas in their new classrooms and made new friends.
The children have been role-playing in the home corner, learning to share toys on the carpet and take turns when playing games on the Interactive White Board.
All children have learnt the names of body parts and have been practising how to write their name.
Reception children enjoyed different creative activities and working on our class projects to create whole class ‘masterpiece’ displays.
All the children joined in with a variety of maths activities, which are fantastic for developing their fine motor skills.

JUNIORS Year 4 have settled in quickly and are impressing the teachers with everything they can remember from Year 3. They are quickly grasping the new skills they have been taught so far and are having lots of fun at the same time! Here’s what Year 4 have been up to since the start of term: 4MG and 4MS have been having fun creating actions for the ‘Talk 4 Writing’ newspaper report all about the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. 4MU have been using their problem solving skills in Maths as well as helping everyone in the class achieve their personal best.
4ML have been creating ‘catchy’ newspaper headlines in English whilst using their alliterative skills to describe some naughty teachers. 4MF have been learning all about the country Egypt, where it is in the world and thinking about what life could have been like in ancient Egypt.

SECONDARY Dear Parents, Welcome back on behalf of the entire Secondary Mathematics Department. We hope you and your children had a fantastic break. We were eagerly looking forward to having the children back in school and it was such a delight to have them return in good spirits. Last academic year was another good year for the school and for the Mathematics department in particular. The IGCSE results for Mathematics was 52% of students achieving grades 9 to 4, with three pupils achieving grade 9. Our Statistics group also managed to secure 71% grade 9 to 4 pass rate. Another good achievement last year was with our AS students. 42% of our students in year 12 we able to achieve an A - C grades in one of the toughest courses we offer. This was only possible due to the excellent effort of the pupils, the unquestionable dedication of the teachers who taught them, the solid foundation of which the department prides itself in, and above all, the endless efforts of the parents. We recognise the efforts made by the parents throughout the child’s school life and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting us in achieving these excellent results. As the new academic year starts, the department is eager to follow on from the success of last year and we hope that with your support the department will grow and improve further as time goes on.
We hope and pray for a great new academic year for you and your children and we hope that our efforts as a department will make you proud. Yours Sincerely, Wahid Fazil. Head of Secondary Mathematics Department
