s debate continues over whether Russia can sustain its offensive in Ukraine, Czech military officer Otakar Foltýn argues that the battlefield reality looks very different from the image often presented by the Kremlin. In this interview with Radio Free Europe’s Georgian Service, Foltýn discusses why he believes Ukraine currently has the advantage, how drones and innovation are changing modern warfare, and why Russia’s strategy is becoming increasingly costly. A high-ranking officer in the Army of the Czech Republic, Foltýn served as Chief of the Military Police from 2022 to 2023, later worked in the Military Office of the President of the Republic, and from 2024 to 2025 was Coordinator of Strategic Communications at the Office of the Government.
