Greetings
Welcome to our 25th Annual Gala Holiday Concert!
We are thrilled to bring the sounds of the season to you this afternoon. On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of the School of Music, I hope you enjoy this collaborative production created with you in mind. Today, you will hear a sampling of the many areas and specializations from within the School of Music. From a jazzy winter wonderland to the Hallelujah Chorus, you are sure to be moved by these festive selections.
Please join me in thanking Dr. JJ Hudson, the Valarie Adam Professor of Practice in Opera, for his work as artistic director for this year’s Gala Holiday Concert. His thoughtful eye has curated a delightful offering for today’s program. We are especially honored to share the stage with Dr. Bridget Blake and to be able to recognize Professor Emeritus, Dr. John Haberlin, for his vision and leadership in starting the annual tradition that is our Gala Holiday Concert 25 years ago.
Today’s presentation represents countless hours of hard work and collaboration by nearly 300 members of the School of Music. I hope that, in addition to the wonderful music, the spirit of teamwork and togetherness transcends the stage and sets an example for what can be when working in community and fellowship. As you leave this afternoon, I hope the melodies make you sing, and the program reminds us all how special it is to be in harmony.
On behalf of the School of Music, the College of the Arts, and Georgia State University, we wish you a most magical holiday season. Now let’s sound the drums, strike up the band, warm up our voices and take an “A” as we present the 2022 Gala Holiday Concert.
