We Love our Hometown Americus is a picturesque town of approximately 16,000 people. Its rich history and culture are evident in the downtown architecture of the boutique shops and unique restaurants. In Americus, embracing our smalltown reputation means that locally roasted coffee is usually in hand and a friendly face is never far away.

Habitat for Humanity Founded in Americus, this nonprofit works towards a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Scholarships & Programs With over $1 million in scholarships disbursed each year, Georgia Southwestern offers one of the most generous scholarship programs in the state. Beginning freshmen have the opportunity to apply for numerous scholarships, including the Georgia Southwestern Promise Scholarship. Final deadline is May 1.

President Jimmy Carter Leadership Program

Nursing Guaranteed Acceptance Program

6 States 1 Rate

Inspired by former US President and GSW alumnus Jimmy Carter, this unique, four-year honors program hones students’ leadership skills through service and academics. Application is competitive and has a February 1 deadline. Selected participants receive a $2,000 scholarship.

GSW’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers an excellent opportunity for high school students who are interested in nursing. Eligible seniors may apply for the nursing program while still in high school. Acceptance into this program guarantees students a place in Georgia’s top-ranked nursing program.

Residents of Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee who attend GSW receive a tuition waiver, lowering their total annual cost to approximately $16,000.
