I chose to attend Georgia Southwestern because of the at-home feel. When I came to Preview Day, I fell in love with the campus, the environment, and the people. Everyone I interacted with cared about my well-being and success.

Americus is a picturesque town of approximately 16,000 people. Its rich history and culture are evident in the downtown architecture of the boutique shops and unique restaurants. In Americus, embracing our smalltown reputation means that locally roasted coffee is usually in hand and a friendly face is never far away.

Founded in Americus, this nonprofit works towards a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

With over $1 million in scholarships disbursed each year, Georgia Southwestern offers one of the most generous scholarship programs in the state. Beginning freshmen have the opportunity to apply for numerous scholarships, including the Georgia Southwestern Promise Scholarship. Final deadline is May 1.

Inspired by former US President and GSW alumnus Jimmy Carter, this unique, four-year honors program hones students’ leadership skills through service and academics. Application is competitive and has a February 1 deadline. Selected participants receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Nursing Guaranteed Acceptance Program

GSW’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers an excellent opportunity for high school students who are interested in nursing. The Hurricanes compete at the NCAA Division II level as members of the Peach Belt Conference.
