ALUMNI ANSWER
THE "CALL"
TheFall 1991 Annual Alumni Phonathon was the most successful ever, with student volunteers gathering $30 ,000 in definite pledges to the Annual Fund Campaign. A group of enthusiastic volunteers contacted over 3,000 alumni in a two-week period.
The GSW Canes Baseball Team raised over $17 ,000 in three nights, with the
remainder raised by Kappa Delta sorority, ROTC , and individual student volunteers. Travel and Adventure of Americus awarded a weekend trip to the beach to the student volunteer raising the most money.
The major portion of the money raised will be used to support the 24 alumni scholarships awarded each fall.

Dr. Thomas R Johnson, professor of sociology, was the 1991 recipient of the Award of Excellence and Commitment to Teaching Johnson received his B A. and M S degrees in sociology from Kansas State University and his Ph.D. in sociology from Oklahoma State University

Gsw's first national social fraternity , Kappa Sigma , has planned a major Founder's Day reunion the weekend of March 13-15. Highlights will include: an address at a brotherhood brunch by C. William McKee, the current Grand Master of Kappa Sigma International; a "blues and barbecue" social at the home of Cal Duke, featuring Bobby O'Day & Friends; a golf tournament; and a Saturday night dance featuring "Clutch," the south's most dynamic show band. The recently-renovated Windsor Hotel will accommodate many of the returning brothers .
