St Margaret’s, located centrally in Norwich, was a place for the community to congregate. This project upcycles St Margaret’s church and aims to re-invent its purpose for foster families to come together and help each other through difficulties in fostering.
The centre is inspired by board games, as they allow families to connect and learn; children enhance their thinking and
imaginative skills through too.
There is a Jenga climbing frame, a hungry hippos roundabout, a life-size chess board, a pillow fort area, a kitchen to teach children how to cook, spaces to socialise as well as private areas. Creating an interactive space will allow for more play and a decrease in stress.
Scandinavian design is the core element in the design as the minimal, clean aesthetic releases the brain from cloudy thoughts. Alongside this, curiosity approach, which is a design feature that uses natural elements for children to learn, are seen throughout.
