Ramsey Student Center

Georgia’s $40 million Bernard B. and Eugenia A. Ramsey Student Physical Activities Center is where the Georgia Bulldogs volleyball team is housed. One of the nation’s largest on-campus facility for recreation and fitness, the Ramsey Center features a three-court volleyball arena and amenities, all utilized by the Bulldogs for practices and competition. The Ramsey Center encompasses 440,000 square feet - UGA’s Sanford Stadium could fit inside the center’s more than five-acre footprint - and the variety offered is as vast as the area covered. Four gymnasia, three swimming pools, seven group fitness studios, climbing and bouldering walls, an indoor challenge course, 10 racquetball courts, two international squash courts, two strength and conditioning rooms, four cardiovascular overlooks, a one-eighth-mile indoor track, equipment checkout and Pro Shop, an outdoor equipment rental and resource center are all available under one roof.

The first volleyball match played in the Ramsey Center was on Sept. 22, 1995. Prior to playing in the Ramsey Center, the Bulldogs’ home volleyball matches were held in the Women’s Physical Education Building. With a seating capacity of 1,925, the Ramsey Center Volleyball Arena produces a lively environment featuring the Redcoat Pep Band, UGA cheerleaders and Georgia mascot Spike!

During the summer of 2009, new additions were added to the volleyball area of the Ramsey Center with the program’s coaches moving into new offices

The team video room, located in the coaches office suite, is an ideal location to break down film and hold team meetings. ^ Murals and wall graphics throughout the facility highlight the history of Georgia volleyball including All-Americans and All-SEC performers. ^

along with the addition of a theatre-style team video and scouting room, a new training room, a new visitor’s locker room and a players’ lounge that features a sitting area, a wi-fi bar and a nutrition station.

Named the best recreational facility in the country by Sports Illustrated in 1997, the Ramsey Center is a constant reminder of the University of Georgia’s commitment to athletic excellence and the realization of what is required to achieve greatness.
