Today, over 80% of 911 calls come from wireless devices, but the legacy system has not kept pace with modern communication technologies.
The Solution: Next Generation 911 Next Generation 911 (NG911) is a modern digital emergency system that provides the ability to more accurately deliver calls, messages and data based on caller location to the appropriate 911 center, known as a public safety answering point (PSAP).
Action: Georgia voters will consider a constitutional amendment on November 3, 2026 The amendment would: • Create a non-lapsing Georgia NG911 Fund. • Dedicate existing revenues exclusively to: Modernization Maintenance Operation of statewide 911 systems. The amendment provides the long-term funding needed to implement statewide NG911 without creating a new tax or fee.
