Student Life Exchange students will join the diverse MBA community, representing 40 countries.

The majority of the class of 2023 (59%) has lived, worked, or studied internationally.

With over 40 active MBA student organizations, clubs are an integral part of the student experience and provide diverse opportunities for students to engage and learn with classmates, faculty and staff, the greater Georgetown community, and beyond.

Incoming exchange students will participate in the international buddy program, which pairs them with student leaders to help with their transition to the university and Washington, D.C.

Academics & Career Center Classes

Students will enroll in nine to 12 credit hours and choose classes from areas such as management, finance, strategy, marketing, accounting, and operations and analytics.

Students will take classes with Full-time or Flex MBA students.

Each term consists of two six-week modules. Each course meets twice a week for 12 sessions or once a week for six sessions. At the end of each module, there is an exam week. Between the two modules, students have one week off.

We offer approximately 60 electives each semester. The administration will work with exchange students individually to optimize the course selection process.

Career Center

During your time at McDonough, you can take advantage of all the McDonough Career Center has to offer including one-on-one coaching, professional development workshops, digital resources, career clubs, and employer networking. Students are encouraged to take part in McDonough’s customized career development curriculum to lay the foundation for lifelong career development and professional success.

Logistics Housing

While housing is not available on campus, students will receive resources about off-campus housing opportunities. Georgetown MBA students typically live in neighborhoods surrounding the Hilltop, such as Glover Park, DuPont Circle, and Foggy Bottom in D.C., as well as Arlington, Virginia. Georgetown offers a free shuttle for students from the DuPont Circle and Rosslyn metro stations.

Visas Students will receive information about acquiring visas for their exchange semester

from the Office of Global Services. Non-U.S. citizens must have a valid visa that allows them to study at our school. For most of our exchange students, this is a J1 visa. Our dedicated Office of Global Services assists in the visa application process.

Fees

Health Insurance - Exchange students are required to purchase mandatory health insurance. This will be charged to the students’ bill directly by Georgetown University and will cover the term of attendance.

Additional Fees - Georgetown University charges a transcript fee and student activities fee. Students are responsible for their own housing, textbook, club, and living expenses.

Orientation

The MBA Program Office and the Office of Global Services will host required orientations before the start of classes each term. Please consult with the MBA Program Office and Office of Global Services before booking any travel to the United States.
