Dear Friends, As we celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Lombardi Women (formerly Women & Wine,) we are inspired by the journey and this amazing movement we have built. Since our first event, we have grown from a small gathering of women to one of the most dynamic and sought-after philanthropic events in the Washington, D.C. region. We have grown as individuals, as friends, and as professionals. And most importantly, we have made a difference—raising over $4 million to support breast cancer research. On this exciting occasion, we reflect upon the people and partnerships that have made this work possible. We are so grateful for the support of this community— support that animates our mission and continues to move us closer to a cure for breast cancer. For 50 years, the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center has worked to push the needle on cancer research. Since its establishment in 1970, Georgetown Lombardi has transformed countless lives affected by cancer through compassionate patient care, meaningful community engagement, and innovative research and education. With your help, Georgetown Lombardi continues to pioneer advances in breast cancer treatment from the bench to the bedside. In our 15 years of partnership, we’ve accomplished many things—but there are a few we are most proud of: • Providing a pilot grant in support of Dr. Bill Rebeck’s ChemoBrain Project, which led to $250,000 in additional R01 funding from the National Institutes of Health. • Support of genetic advances and therapies at The Jess and Mildred Fisher Center for Hereditary Cancer and Clinical Genomics Research. Genetic testing helps pinpoint the most effective personalized treatments for breast cancer while identifying future cancer risk. • Supporting the increased stature of the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research, having provided philanthropic funds and community engagement vital toward its NCI-designation renewal. On behalf of the Lombardi Women Executive Committee and the patients and families that these funds benefit, we thank you for your support. Together, our efforts have had a remarkable impact on Georgetown Lombardi’s work to prevent, treat, and cure cancer—and as a result, the future looks much brighter. Sincerely, Janet Davis Brooks Barbara Schaefer McDuffie Co-Chairs, Lombardi Women

The Georgetown Lombardi Difference… A team of breast cancer physicians and scientists dedicated to the cure. The Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research promotes advanced breast cancer research at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. The research done at the Nina Hyde Center makes Georgetown one of the world's leading institutions for breast cancer research. Founded by fashion designer Ralph Lauren and the late Washington Post Company president Katharine Graham, the Center was established in 1989 as a tribute to Nina Hyde, former fashion editor of The Washington Post. The Nina Hyde Center represents a longstanding, multidisciplinary strategy among Lombardi's basic scientists, population researchers, and clinicians. Dedicated Lombardi scientists and physicians study the many facets of breast cancer and work towards its prevention and cure. Georgetown Lombardi works to address these problems locally and nationally through the Nina Hyde Center. The renowned scientists and clinicians at the Nina Hyde Center work in collaboration with the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center to provide the most advanced, comprehensive cancer care available to the women of the Washington, D.C. region.
