George Junior Republic Announces New Mission, Vision, and Values Statements
Grove City, PA George Junior Republic and Affiliates (GJR and Affiliates) has announced its new mission, vision, and values statements following a recent Board of Directors meeting. The statements reflect the organization's dedication to its community-based programs and unify all affiliated companies under a common objective.
MISSION
George Junior Republic and its affiliates provide opportunities for success and wellness to the individuals, families, and communities served.
VISION
To prepare and empower individuals and families to excel in a higher degree of citizenship
VALUES
Care – We care about our communities, our staff, and the individuals we serve.
Accountability – We take responsibility for our actions.
Respect – We create a culture where individuals feel valued, safe, and respected.
Empowerment - We empower individuals to positively influence their communities to thrive.
Founded by humanitarian William Reuben George, GJR was integral to the national child welfare and juvenile justice movement at the turn of the 20th century. Today, GJR in Pennsylvania offers a continuum of residential programs for adolescent males and male and female adults as well as schoolbased mental health programs Its community-based affiliates – Preventative Aftercare and GJR in Indiana, incorporated in 1992 – bring GJR’s expertise and successes from over a hundred years of human services to at-risk children, youth, and families in 72 counties across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana
The statements address the organization's growth beyond its original focus on at-risk youth, including services for at-risk children, adults, and families. The previous mission statement, which predated significant milestones achieved over the past three decades, no longer aligned with the organization’s

areas of focus and treatment. CEO Nathan Gressel established a committee to develop these core messages. The committee, composed of over 40 employees from each affiliated company, engaged in a comprehensive editorial process. Multiple proposals were presented, discussed, and voted on, leading to the final selections, which received unanimous support from the Board of Directors.
“The new mission, vision, and values statements represent a collaborative effort among employees at all levels of the organization, uniting GJR and Affiliates in a shared commitment toward a more impactful future,” said CEO Nathan Gressel.
