The unfortunate news that I shared in our last issue was how my computer’s external hard drive (containing years of valuable files) took a dive (okay, I dropped it) and stopped working. I didn’t panic. Instead, I rushed it to the data recovery hospital and prayed for the best. I promised to update you, so I’m pleased to report that all the files were saved. Please let me know if you ever need data recovery. I know people.
On our cover: That’s gorgeous model Sophie Olszak from MUSE Management New York, photographed by Sergio Kuhajec and styled by one of our favorites, Mimi Lombardo. Bernadine Bibiano expertly handled hair and makeup for Sophie and Fatou Jobe of New York Models— and both model appear in our fashion story “The New Romantics” (p58).
Also in New York, photographer Tatsuro Nishimura, well-known for his amazing product photography, contacted me to shoot a jewelry story with a model. (Bragging rights: Tatsuro and I recently won Platinum and Gold awards at the GRAPHIS magazine photo competition for our GENLUX beauty images.) I contacted CHANEL who sent their latest jewelry collection to Mocha studio, where Tatsuro assembled a talented team: Yoshie Kubota for makeup, Yukiko Tajima for hair, and MUSE model Edna Rocha as our stunning subject. Prop stylist Ria Del Rosario created the elegant ambiance complete with the cleverly projected CHANEL C’s motif (p30).
Back in sunny LA, we spun three fashion stories, each with its own flavor. The first is a still life that pairs Louis Vuitton fine jewelry with bird-themed backgrounds inspired by Dutch master painter Pieter Claesz. I created the backgrounds using MidJourney AI, and Andrew Matusik painstakingly photographed the jewelry to match my images at his Marina Del Rey studio. We stitched the images together, creating a tapestry of old-world charm and modern sparkle (p36).
When stylist Lisa Smith Craig dreamed of shooting a ‘pastels’ story at an ice cream shop, I thought, great, how hard could that be? But, photogenic ice cream shops are not so easily found. So, as that plan slipped away as quickly as a scoop melts in July, we pivoted to a downtown studio, bringing in the statuesque model Rainey Forkner with Industry LA (thanks, JF!), excellent photographer Nathalie Gordon, makeup magician Luis Casco with CloutierRemix, Emmy-nominated hair artist Marcia Hamilton, and nail whisperer Tracey Sutter ( p48). The result? A confection of subtle color and style— no sprinkles required.
We love creating single-brand stories to honor the creative director’s vision. In this case, CHANEL was between creative directors since Virginie Viard had left her post after five years. So, their studio designed their Métier d’Art pre-fall 2025 collection and presented it on the runway in Hangzhou, China, to over 1,200 guests. For our feature, I selected former Bloomberg anchor, model, and content creator Ani Mun to help us showcase the collection at a spacious home in the gated Point Hamiltair enclave at Lake Arrowhead. Longtime collaborator Tracey Morris photographed, Lisa Smith Craig styled, and J. Michael, with the Celestine Agency, did the hair. On Ani’s Instagram, I liked how she did her own makeup, so for the first time in 20 years of producing GENLUX stories, we allowed the subject to apply her own—and it worked! ( p72).
From digital disasters averted to creating with with the help of AI’s latest technologies, this issue of GENLUX is a testament to creativity and the magic that happens when the right people come together. Thank you for joining us on our journey to keep print alive, and may your own hard drives always land softly!

Drawing from the indelible legacy of 30 Avenue Montaigne, Dior’s new US flagship boutique at South Coast Plaza is a palimpsest, layering modern design atop the rich strata of the brand’s haute couture heritage.
The spatial choreography evokes the atelier’s original spirit, reimagined in a distinctly Californian vibe. Each form and surface is a deliberate gesture beautifully rendered in an architectural opus of marble, gilded metal, and luminous textiles—each element harmonizing like notes in a Debussy nocturne.
At the boutique’s nucleus is the immersive fragrance atelier, conceived by Dior Perfume Creation Director Francis Kurkdjian, where scent becomes a dialect and you’re the canvas. La Collection Privée Christian Dior is the axis around which this universe spins— a constellation of fragrances, each as singular as a fingerprint, as enigmatic as a whispered secret.
Customizable objets d’art-fragrance trunks, sculpted cases, and gilded caps invite brand fans to curate their custom aromatic lexicon. The boutique’s vitrines showcase rarefied collaborations: Miss Dior by Eva Jospin, Cannage Trinité Nacré Coffret by

LLouis Vuitton’s Damier collection revisits a design first created by Louis and Georges Vuitton in 1888.
The Damier pattern, a checkerboard motif inspired by the number eight, was originally used to mark the brand’s luggage and distinguish it from competitors.
The pattern symbolizes infinity and timelessness, qualities that have defined the Maison for over a century. Today, Damier is expressed through a fine jewelry collection featuring pieces in yellow and white gold, accented with diamonds arranged in geometric squares.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Artistic Director for Watches and Jewelry, explains that the collection focuses on the pattern itself rather than just the stones. The pieces are designed for fluidity and comfort, with a polished finish that feels smooth against the skin.
Central to the collection is a unisex ring available in three widths and two styles. One style features two rows of gold and diamonds for a subtle look, while the other uses four rows for a more striking effect. The design allows for stacking and layering, offering versatility in how it is worn.
Overall, the Damier collection updates a historic motif with contemporary craftsmanship, blending Louis Vuitton’s heritage with modern design.

ONE TO WATCH:
Meet Ani Mun, the e ortlessly chic former Bloomberg TV Asia anchor who commands four languages (Russian, Mongolian, Korean, and English). This Mongolian-born beauty now calls Beverly Hills home, where she seamlessly channels her fashionable, cool-girl vibe into creating compelling social media content and champions philanthropic causes. She proves that brains, beauty, and benevolence aren’t mutually exclusive—they’re her baseline. Ani chimes in on our two-word interview. —SK
Your GPS? We’re having a delicious lunch at Port Via in Beverly Hills.
Your languages? I speak Russian, Mongolian, English, and Korean.
Your birthplace? I was born in Erdenet, the second-largest city in Mongolia.
You’re wearing? Oh, it’s a very Y2K look. Flared high-rise jeans from Good American. I think it’s Chloe’s brand? I’m going, ‘Chloe,’ as if I know her, right? Chloe Kardashian. This top is from Forever 21. I’m wearing sneakers and carrying a light blue Dior Bobby bag. No jewelry, just hoop earrings, and a special necklace with a pendant of my God—my protector. So it’s not really a necklace.
Your religion? I’m a Tibetan Buddhist.
Buddhist teaching? One of the teachings is to be kind to all living things, because you never know what form the gods—yes, we believe in many—will take when they come to the earth. It could be a homeless person, a stray dog, or even an insect like a mosquito.
Morning rituals? I wake up and talk to my God. I have a little shrine at home where I share fresh flowers and water daily. Tibetan Buddhists share everything. Even with my morning coffee, I share with my God. It teaches how not to be selfish. It’s a great routine because even though I live alone, I feel like I live with somebody.
Flower or gardener? In my relationships, I’m more like a gardener. I’m a nurturer. I’m a giver. If you build a garden pretty enough, all of the butterflies will fly to you. Same with the philosophy of: It’s better not to
chase, but to attract. And then it just happens that good people come into your life.
College days? I came to LA to attend Cal State Long Beach, and then moved to London for my master’s degree.
First job? I worked for a Bloomberg station in Mongolia, part of Bloomberg Asia. I received broadcast training in Hong Kong and started doing copy editing and reporting. I eventually became a news anchor. My whole six-year career with Bloomberg was a beautiful journey.
Nonprofit world? After the pandemic, I started pursuing a career in the US, specifically in LA, because this is my dream city. I was hired by RESTORE Worldwide a nonprofit organization that provides reconstructive surgery, all free of charge, to patients in developing countries.
Three blessings? My parents and my brother. Even though he’s younger, he’s almost like my older brother, navigating me through life. He’s a cardiothoracic ICU doctor at St. George’s Hospital in London. The second blessing is all of the experiences in my life, whether bad or good, that crafted this person sitting in front of you. And the third blessing is to be reincarnated at this specific time.
Your boyfriend? I haven’t found my true match yet. I know it will happen. I don’t know when.
Ideal partner? Someone with a commanding aura. Someone stronger than I am. Simply put, I wanna be with somebody who I can feel weak with. Hopefully, he’s smarter and more successful than I am. Most importantly, he’s a good person who is never
mean to weaker people. Listen, a man is never going to be 100% perfect. I also have my flaws that I need to work on and push myself
Casual chic.
Beauty challenges? I have eczema, so I understand my skin more than anybody. My mom has chronic rosacea, so I got that from her. I’m always double cleansing and use potent but good Korean skincare products.
Best friend? Yuri, my bestie since college. She knows everything about me and is so supportive. You know when your friend is a true friend when they get mad when you’re not living up to your full potential. Our friendship is non-transactional, where we don’t get anything out of each other other than joy.
Girls’s girl? No, it’s harder to be friends with girls. I get along better with guys. Girls are too competitive. I was a tomboy in high school and wore baggy pants, hip hop jerseys, and I even shaved my hair off and wore this tiny mohawk. So I wasn’t feminine, and wasn’t close to the girls, and not a part of the “cool” girls club.
Bully stories? Yeah, growing up, I was bullied. I went to a Russian elementary school where the majority were Slavic kids, who were physically bigger. I remember they used to make the Asian kids eat the leftovers. I finally fought back.
Dinner guests? Any five? Okay, 1. Leo DiCaprio, because of his philanthropy; 2. Princess Diana, because if she were alive today, she would be the top influencer; 3. Warren Buffett, because he
said he was gonna retire from Berkshire Hathaway; 4. Maybe Bernard Arnault, president of LVMH; 5. Maybe Elon Musk.
Any hobbies? Pickleball. It’s easy on your joints, good cardio, and a great way to meet people.
Favorite music? Ludovico Einaudi. His symphonies are so relaxing. I also listen to J-pop, K-pop, Chinese pop, Mongolian, and Russian rap.
Dream car? My dream car now is a red Ferrari SF90.
Philanthropy goals? I always want to keep involved with the nonprofit world. Back home, I work with Mana, a children’s orphanage. When I return home, I’ll work with them again.
Bad temper? I’m pretty calm. But also, I am a Taurus [smiles].
People pleaser? It’s a part of Asian culture to please everyone in your life. Recently, I’ve been learning how to deconstruct that philosophy and put it back together in my own way.
Best trait? I will drop everything to be there for my friends. I like to think of my friends as soulmates. A soulmate is not always about a romantic relationship.
Your gym? I’ve never worked out, but now I go to Equinox. I had gym anxiety for the longest time. That’s also part of becoming a better version of yourself, to push yourself to go to uncomfortable environments. I hate the gym. I simply hate it. It’s so horrible [laughs].
What’s next? Later this month, I plan on attending my friend’s wedding in Paris, and the French Open is right before that. Things are aligning well. G

Hit the gym, book that barre class, or just strike a pose—because this season, legs are having a major moment. Designers are dialing up the drama with unapologetically leggy looks: think ultra-minis, razor-sharp tailored shorts, and barely-there sheer silhouettes that leave little to the imagination. When I say I’ve tried almost everything to tame my frizzy hair, I am not exaggerating. I’ve always taken pride that I was born with naturally smooth, shiny hair. But when peri-menopause entered the scene, everything changed. Overnight, my hair transformed into a cotton candy-like mess. I’d spend an hour blow-drying, arms aching, only for the frizz to return with a vengeance the moment I stepped outside.
Here are six easy, doable tips to tame our frizzy hair and achieve smooth, manageable locks:
1. Use a Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner: Choose sulfate-free products with moisturizing ingredients like Giovanni’s Shea Butter + Sweet Almond Oil Shampoo and Conditioner to nourish hair and reduce frizz.
TRUST THE EXPERT: “The best way to help control frizz is to use the Giovanni Frizz Be Gone™ shampoo and conditioner to ensure a good foundation for frizz-free hair, and bonus — it is safe for hair that has been colored.” –Dean Banowetz (@DBano) known as the Hollywood Hair Guy ® , is a seven-time Emmy-nominated celebrity hairstylist, recognized for his work on American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, and America’s Got Talent

2. After washing, apply a leavein conditioner and anti-frizz serum to lock in moisture and smooth the hair cuticle. IGK 4-IN-1 PREP SPRAY — acts as a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant for styling with a blow dryer. Apply NEQI Hair Serum to ends of hair once styling is complete.
After two years of trial and error, and nearly giving up and heading for a keratin treatment, I’m finally regaining control over my hair. Through relentless experimentation, I’ve discovered a handful of game-changing gems and tips that have become my hair saviors. Here’s what’s working for me right now.
TRUST THE EXPERT:
“Ionic dryers, soft brushes, and low heat help keep texture intact while managing frizz.” — Jerilynn Stephens (@JerilynnStephens) Hollywood hairstylist with 10 Emmy nominations and four Guild Awards.
3. Use a Hair mask: Once a week apply a moisturizing mask to the hair for extra hydration to keep the hair smooth. Avoid Overwashing: Wash hair 2-3 times a week to preserve natural oils that combat dryness and frizz.
4. Dry with Microfiber Towel or T-Shirt: Gently dry hair with a soft fabric to minimize friction and prevent frizz—avoid rough terrycloth towels.
5. Blow-Dry with a Round Brush and Cool Shot: Use a low-heat setting, smooth hair with a round brush, and finish with a cool shot to seal the cuticle for a sleek look.
6. Sleep on Silk or Satin: Use a silk or satin pillowcase or hair wrap to reduce friction overnight, keeping hair smooth, tame and frizz-free.

I hate to give away my fashion secrets... especially when they get as much attention as I got last night. Please allow me to digress....Soooo, I'm going to the polo matches on Sunday in Monticeto for Mother's Day. I thought, how much fun would it be to wear a fascinator? But it's a few days away... and quite frankly we have not a hat or fascinator store within 5441 miles (Los Angeles to London). What's a girl to do? AMAZON... Yes! You heard me correctly!! Amazon! The Coucoland Fascinator Hat, Cocktail, Tea Party, Derby Fascinator Headband looked like the perfect way to dip my toes into the wild and woolly world of fascinators! When I tried it on.... it was such a fashion moment in my mind... that I built an entire high fashion moment around it. I walked into a "Ladies' Birthday Evening" and was immediately MOBBED by every single human in the entire hotel! It was such a delightful entrance... that I just had to share my $23 High Fashion Moment with Y'all! Coucoland fascinator, $23, amazon.com

Caring for your skin nurtures both well-being and self-confidence. No matter the season of life, when your skin radiates with a healthy glow, it uplifts how you feel—creating a beautiful ripple effect that touches every part of your being. -Ninka B, aesthetician advisor at
Spring brings the spirit of renewal. The skin and its renewal process brings a fresh glow to the surface. When working with our skin and the right products, you can reveal your best skin yet. I’m sharing my must-haves with you! - Ninka Baprawska, aesthetician advisor at GENLUX Beauty
Toners can come in many forms, and since we are in the theme of renewal, I will focus on a toner formulated with AHA’s and BHA’s acids. Apply the ZO Skin Health by Zein Obagi Renewal Pads after cleansing in the morning and evening. The pad exfoliates dryness and dullness and helps to bring fresh skin cells to the surface. My favorite acids are Glycolic and Salicylic. Glycolic Acid works on the surface to brighten, and Salicylic Acid works within the pore, clearing and preventing acne and congestion such as blackheads. This acid duo also works anti-aging, making the surface of your skin smooth and ready for serums!
As an experienced aesthetician, I see firsthand how my clients’ lives begin to shift once they fall into the rhythm of regular facial treatments. I call it an Intentional Pause Button—a monthly moment just for you. A professional facial doesn’t just improve the appearance of your skin— it offers a meditative, calming space for the mind. In today’s world of constant stimulation, carving out this kind of pause is a necessity, not a luxury. I encourage you to make facials a monthly ritual to help restore inner and outer radiance. Ninka B. recommends: Regular visits with a trusted skin care professional, such as a Medical Aesthetician.

Luzern’s Firming Facial Mist, made with rare flower extracts and plant stem cells harvested in the Swiss Alps. With hydrating hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich ingredients, this mist binds moisture to the skin and enhances the absorption of your nighttime products. It’s the perfect final touch before sleep. Ninka B. recommends: Luzern Firming Facial Mist, $85, luzern.com
I love having special treats for my skin in my beauty cabinet—something I can pick up when the skin appears fatigued and needs extra vitality. Treatment masks are one of the best things to do to add radiance, as they have fast-acting ingredients. The Valmont Renewing Pack rebalancing treatment mask gives skin an instant beauty boost. Apply a thicker layer of the mask for 20-30 minutes or a couple of times a week as a sleeping mask. Voilà! Your skin will thank you. Ninka B. recommends: Valmont Prime Renewing Pack, $280, lamaisonvalmont.com
Results don’t come from occasional effort—they come from consistency. So now is the time to focus on antioxidant-rich skincare. Antioxidants, particularly Vitamin C, help protect your skin from increased free radical damage from warmer weather and UV exposure. Vitamin C is especially powerful—it boosts collagen production and helps maintain firmness and even skin tone. While we all love
Treating your skin to a safe and effective at-home peel will keep your skin in tip-top shape. You can do this between your regular facial appointments to ensure your skin keeps the afterglow. The iS Clinical Active Peel System consists of 2 Steps. The 1st step gently and effectively exfoliate with a blend of acids. The 2nd step will neutralize and, at the same time, provide nourishment to your skin. One of my favorite ingredients in the 2nd step is the Copper Tripeptide-1. Copper peptides are a brilliant invention of cosmetic chemists and incredible for the skin!
sunshine, it’s one of the main culprits behind collagen breakdown and pigmentation. Thankfully, you can take proactive steps to protect and nourish your skin. Ninka B. recommends: 1. ZO Skin Health 10% Vitamin C Self-Activating, $110, zoskinhealth.com; 2. Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Body Cream, $125, naturabisse.com; and 3. Cymbiotika Liposomal Vitamin C, $62, cymbiotika.com

Sunscreen is your skin’s best long-term investment. Not only does it protect against immediate damage, but it also preserves your skin’s health and youthfulness for years to come. The modern way to reapply sunscreen is with an easy, brush-on formula. I love the ColoreScience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50. It’s an all-mineral formula that’s gentle on sensitive skin, won’t clog pores, and offers quick, effective reapplication throughout the day. This is a year-round must-have, especially during spring and summer. Ninka B. recommends: ColoreScience Sunforgettable Total Protection Brush-On Shield SPF 50, $69, colorescience.com
Certain skincare ingredients work like magic! It’s all about the quality of ingredients. I have always been a fan of peptides. There are many di erent types of peptides, each with a specific function. The Le Mieux Collagen Peptide Serum contains Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2, which stimulates elastin production essential for skin firmness. Another highlight of this particular peptide is brightening the skin by inhibiting the production of uneven pigment. Renew and rejuvenate your skin with wonderful serum! Ninka B. recommends: Le Mieux Collagen Peptide Serum, $95, lemieuxskincare.com

Taking care of the skin is an ongoing balancing act. It’s essential to keep the cell renewal up to speed. At the same time, treating the skin to much-needed nourishment with serum or a treatment mask. Wishing you a blossoming Spring! - Ninka

Louis Vuitton’s newest home décor collections collaborate with top designers who weave the brand’s legacy and fine artistry into items that sing with color, texture, and joie de vivre.
Take Tokujin Yoshioka’s Blossom Vase, which molds the iconic Louis Vuitton Monogram Flower into a robust, swirling sculptural masterpiece—merging innovative design and nature-inspired artistry in collectible form.
Jaime Hayon’s Botanik ceramics are playful chameleons, transforming from boxes to trays to candleholders, each piece a vivid echo of botanical gardens.
Cristian Mohaded’s Inti vase and dish are minimalist odes to LV’s codes—contemporary heirlooms, radiant with depth

and artistry.
Patricia Urquiola’s Diago vases blend lyrical compositions of supple leather and gentle glass, in hues drawn from nature’s palette—vessels that breathe with quiet elegance. Her Petalo trinket trays are spring’s first bloom made tangible—a garden of leather petals, saddle-stitched and radiant in purple, green, red, and yellow. Each tray is a poetic fragment of nature, the Monogram flower reimagined as a modern flourish.
The Ribbon throw and cushion by Zanellato/Bortotto unfurl like a pink-hued ballet across pure wool, LV initials weaving a motif that enlivens any room with kinetic grace. In contrast, Cristian Mohaded’s Sunset textiles capture Patagonia’s clay mountains and the last light of day in pixelated checkerboards—a sunset’s warmth distilled into fabric. Together, these Louis Vuitton home décor collabs blend whimsy with refined luxury, redefining the home as a canvas for creativity and welcoming hospitality.

Tucked away high above the lush hills of Costa Rica, where hummingbirds dance between cinnamon trees and the phrase Pura Vida is more than a greeting—it’s a way of life—you’ll find a place that breathes peace into your bones. This place isn’t just a destination, it’s a recalibration. With only six secluded casitas, it feels like you’ve been granted the keys to a secret garden in the clouds. Costa Rica isn’t a place you visit. It’s a rhythm you feel. Where education is free and there’s no army. My bestie and I traveled there during “low season”— only to find it just as stunning, serene, and alive as ever.
Perched on a hilltop overlooking the rainforest, the Origins Luxury Lodge Resort feels like it was grown, not built. Each casita is a sanctuary, complete with a private hot tub that mimics the flow of the surrounding volcanic springs. From the moment you arrive, you’re invited to exhale. Walk barefoot if you like—this is where the wild turkey bird casually struts by and angel trumpet flowers bloom at night, scenting the air with their nocturnal perfume. Guava trees and cinnamon branches line the property, a so reminder that nature is the true designer here. originslodge.com
Don’t miss mixology night—it’s not just a cocktail class, it’s a cultural immersion. Under the so glow of lanterns and the sound of the jungle humming in the background, we learned the art of the Caipirinha, Brazil’s iconic cocktail. Fresh lemon wedges, raw sugar, and cachaça come together in a ritual of muddling and pouring that feels almost ceremonial. Simple, sensual, and undeniably strong. Then came the Chiliguaro—Costa Rica’s fiery signature shot. A blend of guaro, hot sauce, and lime that hits fast and lingers with warmth, like a tropical sunset in a glass. Each sip felt rooted in place—earthy, bright, and bold, just like the Origins Resort itself.
One of Six Only a half dozen of these stunning casitas dot the luxuruy resort for a very private getaway.
One of my favorite moments was a guided hike to the Oro Waterfall—followed by a horseback ride back through misty jungle trails. Along the way, we heard frogs calling from hidden pools and saw a few leap across our path—pure magic. “Magical” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
Yoga in the middle of the rainforest is a spiritual experience. Whether it’s sunrise flow or a still moment in tree pose, the jungle soundtrack of howler monkeys and exotic birds wraps around your practice like a mantra.
Every meal is a ceremony, led by the resort’s culinary genius, Imran Lallmahamad. The cuisine is rooted in purity. Most of the ingredients are carefully picked from Origins’ organic garden—vibrant, living things grown just steps from the kitchen. The philosophy is about savoring each flavor, so everything is served fresh, raw when needed, and bursting with the wild essence of the land. From garden vegetables to forest-foraged florals, even the unexpected—like forestalls and edible blossoms not typically used in traditional cuisine—are celebrated. There’s an art to this simplicity.
Beyond the beauty, Origins Luxury Lodge Resort is commi ed to community. The resort supports a foundation in partnership with Mukul Resort and Vivian Pellas— focused on healthcare and education for underserved communities.
