Genetics That Do More. For Longer.

Every cow in your herd is an investment. And the longer she stays healthy, breeds back and puts milk in the tank, the greater your return. That’s why we’ve enhanced the ICC™ index for 2025 – to help you build a more efficient, fertile, long-lasting and productive herd.

“The philosophy behind our GENEX sire program is to produce cattle that are profitable and healthy, and that’s what the ICC™ index is all about. I’ve had the opportunity to see tremendous improvement in cattle over the span of my career, and I firmly believe in our philosophy on how to breed cattle.

What I think sets the ICC™ index apart are four key components: the first being production, the second being health traits and healthy cows, the third being fertility, and last – but not least – feed efficiency. Feed Saved is a real important part of ICC™, and I see it being more important as we move into the future.”

Build a Herd That Works Harder, Lasts Longer

The latest ICC™ index formula update – with the April 2025 sire summary – brings greater precision to sire selection by sharpening focus on the traits that matter most for long-term profitability:

Lifetime ECM: ICC™ prioritizes reaching milk peak faster and sustaining higher levels of production across multiple lactations—outpacing other selection indexes with cows producing more energy-corrected milk over their lifetime.

Health & Longevity: ICC™ leads to cows that stay in the herd longer, with fewer health issues like lameness, mastitis or metabolic problems that often cause an early exit from the herd.

Female Fertility: With added emphasis on Cow Conception Rate (CCR), ICC™ helps cows breed back efficiently. The result? More cows reaching fourth lactation—and doing it faster, with fewer services.

Feed Efficiency: Feed is your biggest cost. Continued focus on feed efficiency through Feed Saved means ICC™ selects for cows that produce more milk with less feed—improving margins and sustainability.

Modern Udder Index (MUI): A new approach to producing functional and durable udders, MUI effectively yields a happy medium for parlor traits (like teat placement and length) and maintains center support while delivering steady progress in fore and rear udders.

By choosing sires using the ICC™ index, you are ensuring each new generation of cows is more fertile, more efficient and more profitable than the last. With the updated 2025 formula and real-world validation from 30,000 cows in progressive U.S. herds, the ICC™ index delivers genetics that work harder for you.

Female Fertility

This retrospective analysis includes data from multiple progressive herds across the USA, representing nearly 30,000 genomic-tested females. The tables compare the actual average results of the top quartile for each index.
