We don’t normally play ‘Let It Loose’ from the Exile album; it hasn’t been tried and tested live on the road. And ‘the new, loose “Under My Thumb”’ means we were throwing that song around, unplaying it very gently, almost not hitting. We did it for the hell of it and it sounded good at rehearsal.
We also didn’t play ‘Lonely Avenue’, ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’ or ‘I’m Ready’ live –they’re purely to get our chops together at rehearsals
‘Night Time Is the Right Time’ ended up in the set once or twice We played that on Copacabana Beach to 1 8 million people That Rio gig was like several giant street parties – eight sections of stage speakers over a mile to make it link up as one

Keith has done a little drawing in the top right-hand corner. In brackets he has written ‘My liars’, because he always says ‘ Talk to my liars’ instead of ‘lawyers’!
We always go into each other’s dressing rooms. There’s a little bit of jazz coming from Charlie’s, Little Richard or Chuck Berry coming from Keith’s, and a bit of Little Walter or Jimmy Reed coming out of mine Music is a constant source of inspiration
O ur dressing rooms have the same names wherever we play Mine is always called ‘Recovery’, Keith’s is ‘Camp X-Ray’, Charlie’s is ‘Cotton Club’ and Mick’s is ‘Work O ut’

Touring can be incredibly demanding – juggling busy schedules, coping with jet lag, living in hotels, being constantly on the move. Looking back, I can’t believe we managed to remember what town we were in and what day it was, let alone the set list
Set List 51
Mick Jagger, Char lie Watts and Ronn e Wood congregated in Dubai before flying to Per th on 14 October The final par t of the 2014 tour was to compr se nine gigs in Australia and New Zealand However the show at Hanging Rock scheduled for 8 November had to be cancel ed due to Mick developing a throat infection
The Adelaide Studios were used for rehearsals Kar l Denson was on saxophone duties with T im Ries due to Bobby Keys’ ill health Day one was largely devoted to recuperation, with Keith Richards r unning through a few of the songs with his vocals
Set List 52
A heavy day of rehearsing split into two set lists Only ‘Hear tbreaker’ ‘Can’t You Hear Me Knocking and The Worst were not played on tour in 2014
Set List 53
Ronnie annotated the hor ns (namely Kar l Denson and T im Ries) against each song they were featured on

Eric was also recording at British Grove, so we invited him in. It was so sweet and so great to have him along. And I love the way he plays slow. It’s always a relief to play with Eric because he’s such a natural and we fall into the same pocket. I’m his biggest fan –I used to go and watch him with John Mayall, right through the Yardbirds and everything He was fantastic I think we all have that mutual respect for each other

Having Bob Dylan open for us at Coachella was so surreal, and to see Neil Young after all those years was great – I didn’t get to speak with him but we exchanged messages, he’s the only one I missed. I saw Paul McCartney and it was lovely to connect with Pete Townshend.
We rehearsed ‘Rainy Day Women’ but, Bob being his usual unpredictable self, he opened his set with that He never plays it!
My little twins, Alice and Gracie, were backstage It was one of their first public appearances! Bob loved them Me and Charlie went back and hung with him He was so lovely
