Welcome!

It is always fun and even some time challenging to put on and organize certain events and sales. The rewards are always greater and making friends and building relationships are what the cattle industry is all about and I feel most will agree. In the last year and half many changes have been made in Milan, Ind. As many know Leah is the head and the driving force behind Clearwater Farms. At the time when Jeff and Leah decided to build a sale facility and move to having their own annual bull sale and female sales Jeff had one request. The Customer Choice sale was put into motion and a date was set to be the 4th Saturday each year at the Milan, Indiana. This dream of Jeff and Leah was a great idea and it proves to support their philosophy of helping and assisting their customers.

We want to invite each and everyone to the sale which will take place at Clearwater Farms Saturday April 27th. We welcome everyone young and old, new breeders, commercial cattlemen, past customers, junior members and even if you just want to purchase some good money making genetics. We will speak for Leah and Jeff in inviting all members of the Indiana Simmental Association and all the surrounding state associations of Kentucky and Ohio Associations as well. In the Clear Choice sale we have 17 consignors represented from the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and South Dakota. The past customers have a great offering and something for everyone. Both Simmental and Sim Angus genetics are represented. We will be offering donors, genetics lots, opens, breds, pairs, and even some special show prospects. Don’t forget to look for your show heifer for the AJSA Jr Nationals, Sweepstakes or even your own state fair or county show.

This is going to be a annual sale so please inquire with Jeff, Leah or Jeremy. Jeff and Leah have been in the business for many years and are excited about the future of the breed and the junior program. They want to continue to be a seed stock supplier and want to continue to improve their genetic pool as well do the best in their efforts in assisting their customers. In todays world we have several marketing choices so if the Clearwater team and family can assist that is what we want to do for your family, your operation and you as a customer. Again, we want to build lasting relationships.

We invite your inquiries on the sale and future sales so don’t hesitate to call any of the sale customers. They know their product. DP Sales Management Jeff doesn’t always have a ton of requests when it comes to the cattle, but when we were working on building our sale barn and planning for future sales; the customer sale was high on Jeff’s list. We understand how important it is to any cattle producer; no matter how big or small your operation might be, that it is vital to have a good marketing outlet for your cattle. We were truly blessed as young breeders ourselves when our mentors Parke & Nina Veshlage asked us to be apart of the Field of Dreams sale many years ago. That opportunity helped us begin gathering a customer base, and it is an important part of the story of ClearWater Simmentals.

We recognize that not every animal in this sale is backed by the CLRWTR brand. The friends and customers in the following pages have supported our program in some form or fashion over the years, and it is an honor for us to have them come to Milan for this event. We all have programs that feature a wide variety of genetics; thats what makes the beef cattle industry fun. When Leah called and asked if Sloup Simmental wanted to be involved in her customer choice sale I responded give me a day to think on it because we want to offer our best. After doing some preg checking we got along well so this is the most up front genetics we can offer in April. Elianah is one best ever to carry the Sloup prefix. E65 was the highlight at the 24th New Direction sale selling half interest for $23,000 going to the breeding program of Fenton Farms in Mississippi.

Jeff’s plan and vision to have a customer sale is a great idea. We have purchased genetics in many different prices ranges from Clearwater and all have done well in our young program. We are glad offer genetics out of Red Jewell. In the best testimony for Red Jewell is at Clearwater Simmental. Brandon Luebbue purchased some embryos and sold the result in the New Direction. The 20 20 x Red Jewell was awesome and commanded $13,000 and now resides in Milan. She has already been in the purple however Leah can’t wait for her to a top donor.

We were able to be a part of the Alley donor with B & K Farms and Hudson Pines. The story continues to unfold with many high sellers, champions, donors and herd sires. It is amazing if you keep up with the generation after generation and make animals trace back to the 240 line of genetics. Sloup Simmental, Bill Sloup The Sloup program has been around several years and this fall they will host their 25th annual New Direction sale. Double Image Cattle Company This is what the customer sale is all about, long term friendship and watching junior members and friends grow up in all the process. The Ison family we are very fond of and its great now to see Shelby being a Ag teacher like her father Scott. This business is challenging however the rewards are great in many ways.

On a few of our past customers we need to know better and we will improve on that customer success thing. In the 2016 Family Tradition bull sale Colton Hudgins and Tyler Davis purchased a $3500 Bismarck son out of Marbley and that bull has evidently done nothing but good things. Any breeder loves to hear good stories so we encourage you to come and look at those impressive daughters.

Sloup Simmentals, Nick Sloup Customers are important and vital to any program. I will say Nick Sloup has been super supportive of our program as anyone and he is the most supportive in our breed. With his involvement, work ethic, and his family he doesn’t get to many sales however he will always call and ask questions. Neal Brothers SVJ Farms Duane and Valarie Snee have been long time supporters and breeders over the years. In the recent Pennsylvania Bull Test, SVJ was awarded by the Pennsylvania Cattleman’s Association the seed stock breeders over the years. Humphries Family Farm Several years ago we met the young enthusiastic Steven Humphries. In the 2015 Family Tradition sale Steven along with his Dad, Stan purchased the donor Bovine Bella. Over the years both Steven and his operation has grown and they are ready to share some genetics. We appreciate young and excited breeders and what they have to offer to the Simmental industry.

Steve Logue Steve Logue was one of the first small breeders that come to my mind when a customer sale was put in place.

The Logue have been good in state supporters and have added several bred heifers over the years. We appreciate the smaller breeders support and impact.

If you have been around Simmental in Indiana the Everhart name has been around several years. In the 2018 Clear Choice bull sale Adam selected our high selling bull, a Loaded Up out of Serena.

What a good Simmental family with strong roots. I am sure a few will hopefully be bred to that baldie herd sire.

Kenny Beshears has been a faithful Simmental breeder for 30 years or more. Now along with his son Bobby heading up the cattle end the program continues to advance and met the needs of the industry. The Beshears operation has been supportive and bid on several animals and purchased out of our online sale. They are good Indiana Simmental breeders.
