Announcements made from the auction block on sale day, along with any information printed in the supplement sheet(s) provided on site, will take precedence over the material printed in this catalog. Sale order will be available on site on April 2nd and will be posted on the Facebook page of Echard Farms. Scrotal circumferences and either ADG or WDA will be provided on the supplement sheet.

Terms & Conditions

All cattle sold through the Cutting Edge Genetics Bull Sale sell under the Suggested Terms & Conditions of the American Simmental Association.

The Cutting Edge Genetics group will house and feed all bulls free of charge until May 1, 2016. After that, a $4 per head per day fee will be applied to any and all remaining bulls. Applies to bulls only.

The sale group will make every effort to assist buyers in arranging transportation of purchased cattle.

Retained Semen Interest

The consignors of the Cutting Edge sale will retain 1/3 semen interest in all bulls sold, unless otherwise noted. Winning bidders will receive 100% possession of and 2/3 semen interest in their purchases.

Health

All bulls will be evaluated for breeding soundness by AA Breeders, Jan van Tonder. All two-year-old bulls will be tested free of trichomoniasis.

Valentino is the first calf ever offered out of BRANT/EKRD Sweet Clover, who has had a very successful show career – first as a bred heifer then as a cow/calf pair. A daughter of the legendary Dream On and KLER Sweetness, Clover is quickly moving her way to the front of our donor lineup. Her embryos have been in high demand, selling among the highest lots at both World Beef Expo’s Showcase Sale and the SimMagic On Ice at National Western. Valentino, her first son, was at Clover’s side while being named Champion Cow/ Calf Pair at the 2015 AJSA North Central Regional Classic in Minnesota. This mild-mannered powerhouse is extremely docile and has been led around the country by our 7 and 8 year old children. He’s a halfblood SimAngus that offers one of the best physical conformations you’ll find. He carries a complete build with finesse on a big foot and has the depth of rib that screams ‘performance’. The lone fall-born bull in our sale, this guy will stand out for far more reasons than his age. His dam, RP MP Loving Fool 045Y, was our selection out of the 2014 Foundation Female Sale. She’s a direct daughter of Rocking P Livestock’s outstanding Queens Valentine donor, by WLE Quota. Study her picture here, and you’ll see why we chose her. B468 is sired by HTP SVF Duracell, the stouter full brother to In Dew Time. And if any of that pedigree sounds familiar, here’s why: EKRD/GUNN Adonis is a 7/8 brother in blood to HPF Quantum Leap, who took home banners for Circle M and Rocking P at every major show – and then some. Another brother, THSF Lover Boy, recently sold for $52,000 to Yardley Cattle Company and was named Champion Simmental Bull at National Western shortly thereafter. Adonis himself is moderate framed, sure footed and deep bodied with a really neat front end. His EPD profile includes six traits in the Top 30% of the breed, including API. With Hooks Shear Force on one side of his pedigree and Lazy H Burn Baby Burn on the other, Irish Acres Burn Em Up is a prime example of exactly that. Shear Force, whose calving ease prowess and first-rate carcass merit are unmatched within the breed, has been one of the most widely used Simmental sires for the past decade.

Burn Baby Burn is famous for creating offspring with undeniable eye appeal and volume, and her legend as a producer of show champions and breed changers is still being built upon today. Burn Em Up’s dam is a Burn Baby Burn daughter – and a full sister to FBF1 Combustible, Griswold’s 2013 NWSS Reserve Champion Bull.

The featured sire for Echard Farms and Denning Farms, Burn Em Up has exceeded expectations. He offers calving ease without sacrificing growth or volume. His offspring are easy keeping, sound structured and attractively designed. His second calf crop is arriving this spring and, thus far, the calves are coming easy and with remarkable vigor. Notes

Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels.

CALVING EASE (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.

BIRTH WEIGHT (BW): Pounds of birth weight.

WEANING WEIGHT (WW): Pounds weaning weight.

YEARLING WEIGHT (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.

MATERNAL CALVING EASE (MCE): Percent of unassisted birth in first-calving daughters.

MILK: Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.

MATERNAL WEANING WEIGHT (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.

CARCASS WEIGHT (CW): Pounds of carcass weight.

YIELD GRADE (YG): Yield grade score.

MARBLING (MARB): Marbling score.

RIBEYE AREA (REA): Square inches of ribeye.

ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
