• Jennifer needs to discuss Fellowship Development matter/time sensitive: Zoom Meetings

• Jenn calls for all AREA folks to attend individual meetings just to reach out and learn what Groups need. Flag thing is to serve groups. End of year, Flags can be sewn together into one big flag representing AREA. Nominates Brandon for Fellowship Development. Pleas with group to go to other places for attend meetings. Marshall adds ‘Groups need to have connection with Area on 2-way street’. Sherry notes ‘there is no accountability to get Groups to attend Area. Jenn there should not be a separation between Janesville and Madison. Discussion of moving AREA around, Jenn offers 6mos/6mos interval. Marshall suggests rule making to incent GSRs to attend. P&P disallows such rules. Richard suggests finding other ways to incent people to attend AREA and committee assignments. Paul suggests changing “moving meeting action” to 2 months as a start. Mark is asked to research suitable location in Rock County for a meeting. Mark reports this is in topic.

• Jane introduces “Inventory discussion” for Oct/Nov/Dec meetings – Coleen leads. Reviews top 4 priorities, address one each month, starting in December beginning with first one in Dec., 2022, take item to Group for feedback. Paul notes interest of WRSC in seeing AREA’s Inventory report as an example to share with other AREA. Marshall reports on overlapping questions of WRSC’s Inventory overlapping with AREA’s. Asks Marshall to learn WRSC’s action plan to adapt . Coleen proposes all Inventory matters are discussed in one meeting rather than monthly. Richard expands on Action plans such as formally identifying NA structure to Group as way to interest more individuals in “how NA works.” Marshall will ask Mark M. to send Inventory Questions and WRSC Guide to Action Plan.

• Mark PR vote on additional expenditure. APPROVED.

• Sherry suggests discussion of 2023 activities – Suggests Activities being Group led, be taken to Groups ‘what do you want to do?” with coordination/budgets by Area rather than Area inventing activities based on ideas from Groups. Revise “5 Event Policy” to turn idea-making to Groups. Richard notes evolution of committee work over past year, and this looks like another. Jennifer volunteers to be new Activities Coordinator after a new Policy is developed to replace Activities Chair. Coleen noms Jennifer, if policy changes. Mark 2nds. Name of position to be discussed at next Policy meeting.

Public Relations Subcommittee Report

October 16, 2022

Hello Badgerland Area, here is what our subcommittee accomplished in the months of September and October of 2022

1. Bus Signs---Proposal: We received the advertisement agreement from Madison Metro for the bus signs to be installed in 50 buses for January, February, and March of 2023. The total cost for 20 replacement signs with the new Wisconsin Region wide Helpline phone number and installation and removal after the three months of free space leasing was $580.25 including taxes. The revised PR budget amount for this was $750.00, We are asking that the Treasurer write and mail a check for $580.25 to Metro Transit Advertising (Attn: Peg Anthony) at 1245 E. Washington Ave. Madison, WI 53703. This check needs to be sent as soon as possible!

2. Business Cards: We received 2000 new business cards and went through 1400 of them already between WSNAC, the event Rock for Recovery in Janesville on October 12th. Having stated that we needed more business cards again. Because we saved $169.75 on the bus signs and because of a $40.00 discount we ordered 2000 more business cards. We are asking that $62.32 be approved to cover the cost of the additional 2000 business cards. We didn’t realize that because of the Literature QR code on the cards that the IP demand would decrease. This is a good problem because the cost of the IP’s can range from $.25 to $.33 or more and so we are saving funds by just handing out business cards. Please reimburse Mike R. $62.32 for additional business cards. If approved.

3. Events---Rock for Recovery: October 13th at the Craig Center at the Rock County Fairgrounds in Janesville went well there were approximately 200 people in attendance. I was able to hand out 10 store front signs and the rest of the members of the subcommittee and I handed out 600 – 700 business cards.to other agencies and the general public who attended the event. We went through just a few IP’s as the card offered all NA literature by the QR code.

4. JATV a local Rock County TV station was contacted at the Rock for Recovery event, and they agreed to air our PSA (Public Service Announcement).

5. The local Drug or Treatment Courts for Rock County expressed interest in have Public Relations do a PR presentation to the Judges, District Attorneys, and any of the employees in the Rock County Courts. We gave them our email address to contact us, and we will follow up with them.

6. There are 8 signs remaining to display in stores, police departments, health care facilities, treatment centers etc. Please let me know if you need any. (correction: no more signs left as they were given to the Evansville and Monroe groups)

The next PR subcommittee meeting will be on November 13th, 2022 at 11am CST Thanks for letting me of service, Mark S. #2

H&I Report

October 16, 2022

H&I continues it’s four in person meetings within Dane County. We are holding at least half of these weekly meetings and could always use more willing volunteers. Several new volunteers are still going through the vetting process to gain access to the system at this time and this is exciting. Jefferson County & Rock County jails continue to recruit volunteers for their own in person meetings. H&I is currently in the final steps of scheduling our new virtual meetings with the Sauk Co. Jail and we hope to have those two meetings up and running within the next two months. Dani Miller is our new H&I Co-chair and has begun active service on the Committee. We are hoping to have a Quarterly H&I meeting within the next two months. In loving service Dani & Richard.

Fellowship Development Report October

16, 2022

Had a Fellowship and Development meeting on September 25, 2022

On September 25 I help a zoom meeting. Thanks to Russell H, Liz, Mark S and Mike R for taking the time to join me. We discussed about possibly rotating Area from 6 month in Madison to 6 months in Janesville so that those in Janesville who don’t drive can make it to Area can do so. Also, it was brought up do we get rid of the Hybrid area meeting altogether? That would need a GSR vote as it was voted with the GSR’s to go Hybrid to start with.

It was brought to my attention that Easy Does it, but Do It is no longer an active meeting. It has been removed from the website.

When we did our area inventory the big thing that came up was that we were not supporting Area groups/meeting. WE NOW need to answer that question. This Area is to help meetings in Badgerland grow and be successful. We need to reach out to them more and it can’t be just a few people doing it. It needs to be all of us. That’s why Fun w/ Flags was created. Which I hope helps us all get more involved. I hope your group have your flag done as it kicks off today. I do know some meetings were not very excited about doing it, so if you go to a meeting and they have no flag, please just let them know we are here for them.

Liz, Russell and I went to Monroe a couple of weeks ago and WOW recovery is alive and well down there. They were very happy to see us and welcomed us with open and loving arms. I would encourage everyone to go down there and take a car full, it will be worth the drive.

I hope we as an Area can come up with some type of solution to reach out to other Area meetings.

Thanks for letting me serve, in loving service, Jennifer M.
