PR Subcommittee Report July 10, 2022 Chairperson report: Mark S.

We will have eight meetings this year to discuss various aspects of Public Relations of NA in the Badgerland Area. We will be meeting on these months: February, April, May, July August, October, & November The PR sub-committee meetings to be held virtually on the Zoom link provided on the Badgerland website on the day BASC meeting occurs at 11:00am.The remaining PR meetings will be held virtually after this meeting. Come join us on July 10th First of all, let’s talk about treatment centers. Mike directed me to a place where a could find the list thereby bypassing the Regional chair, Gary P. We will be sending a resource letter plus a link to where there facilities can access to NA literature that they would like to use to a contact person from each of these facilities. PSA’S / RADIO: Mike and I repeatedly tried to contact a radio conglomerate known as iHeart Radio. We called them and emailed them but to no avail. iHeart Media owns and operates approximately 20 to 25 radio stations min the state of Wisconsin including my favorite 101.5 IBA. As per instruction from Mike I have mailed the radio PSA directly to iHeart Media to see if any headway can be made by doing it this way. TV: 2 weeks ago I started to call the TV stations in the Madison viewing area and I ended up talking a person from each station about putting on a 30 second PSA non the respective stations. They fell like dominos, first FOX 47 agreed to add our website and the Regional helpline number to PSA and then we took it to CBS 3, ABC 47 & NBC 15. All 4 stations agreed to put it in the rotation of other ads and other PSAs to be aired during the day and the nigh; NA is now on TV!! BUS SIGNS & STORE SIGNS: No work or updates on these in the last month. I contacted Peg Anthony from Madison Metro through email to see if she had gone through the buses to see what shape the bus signs are in and we will proceed from there. Store signs…This subcommittee purchased 60 new signs, with the new Regional helpline number for our budgeted 150 dollars. I passed out 34 signs at the June Area Service meeting mainly to GSRS of meetings of small towns in our Area. Mike and I made a run of Beloit in June and had 15 signs put up in convenience stores/gas stations, Piggly Wiggly grocery, Beloit Memorial Hospital, Goodwill & the cop shoppe. If anyone needs any or anymore signs we have 26 left and we can get them to you as soon as possible so you can put them in the proper places EVENTS: The First event that we put up a resource will be the Overdose Awareness Walk that will take place on August 31st, 2022 at Riverside Park in Beloit. Next event will be the Voices of Recovery rally at the Capitol Building in Madison to be held in September and again we set up a resource table, and finally we will attend with our resource table the Rock for Recovery event held in October at the Rock County Fairgrounds sometime in October. I will be attending all 3 of these event with others from my subcommittee.. Lastly, it was discussed and agreed to ask for more bus signs be created next year due to the formation and inclusion at the new Regional Helpline Number on the signs.. REGIONAL NOTES—none at this time With the meetings starting to open-up please be sure to inform PR of any meeting changes. The next Public Relations subcommittee meeting will be held on Sunday August 14th 2022 at 11:00am on Virtuality. Thanks for letting me be of service, Mark S.

SERVICE COMMITTEE June 10 th, 2022 - Minutes

H&I Report July 10, 2022 H&I held it’s quarterly meeting last month with 10 in attendance. Updates were shared for our current locations of Dane co. Jail, Oakhill Corrections, Jefferson Co. Jail, Rock Co. Jail, and Detox. Charles gave an update of Oakhill and Anita provided us with an update on Tullarian Detox. In general facilities are requiring written materials and we’re supplying those when requested. Dane County Jail meetings are currently suffering from a lack of committed volunteers to conduct meetings and therefore a number of meetings have had to be cancelled. There are a core group of about 4 or 5 out of 24 volunteers who have been doing the lion’s share of the work. We ask all those present to please take back to your meetings a request for new H&I volunteers. Fortunately during the last couple weeks there has been a significant increase in the number of folks requesting paperwork to begin the vetting process and this has been very encouraging. Both Jefferson Co. & Rock County are preparing to go back to in person meetings and we’re doing our best to get those volunteers through the admissions process. Dane Co. Jail has two new co-ordinators handling about recovery work on the inside and on July 29th Richard will be meeting with those individuals to raise issues and questions regarding ways to expand our reach of getting the message of recovery to those on the inside. Of primary concern are ways we can assist in making sure residents are equipped with the tools of recovery upon release up to and possibly including having NA members meet directly with addicts as they leave the facility. This is an issue which Area might need to discuss openly at one point. Another issue we want to bring up is the possibility of working with addicts one on one while they are incarcerated similar to a way a sponsor would work with a sponsee. One of the most pressing issues currently within Badgerland H&I is the need for a female identified person to step in as Co-Chair. We’d ask that this person have at least a year clean, a sponsor and homegroup, and be someone who is comfortable using a computer and various microsoft programs. In loving service Richard G.
