Public Relations Subcommittee Report

June 11, 2023

June is usually is a slow month for Public Relations, however we got a few thimgs done and prepared for the busy “eventful’ Fall season. Here is what we did....

1. Picnic: At the Badgerland Unity Picnic on June 3rd, Mike, Carl & I put on a song & dance on how to ask businesses to put up NA signs in their businesses. We demomnstrated what to do if the managers say “yes” or if they say “no”. We handed out about 30 signs for addicts to take to their commuuniites. After our workshop, we had one speaker from P.R. and 2 speakers from H & I share why service in Narcotics Anonymous is important to them. Our subcommittee would like to thank Richard S. and the rest of the H & I subcommittee for participating in this speaker/workshop day with us

2. An Announcement: THOSE PEOPLE WHO RECIEVED SIGNS AND HAVE ANY LEFTOVER PLEASE BRING THEM TO THE NEXT AREA SERVICE MEETING THAT THEY ATTEND

3, Events: These are events that are happening that the P.R. subcommittee will be attending; 1. Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st in Beloit. 2.Rally for Recovery September 9th in Madison at the State Capitol from 10am to 3pm 3. Rock for Recovery, October 11 in Janesville at the Craig Center at the Rock County Fairgrounds, times to determined. Our committee has enough literature and supplies for each event.

4. Court System: I am in the process of contacting the county courthouses in the counties of our Area to obtain a contact person for NA in our Area. The purpose is for possibly setting up future panel presentation for us and possible a Regional P.R. subcommittee member to put on for the judges and/or the Clerk of Court office of each county.

In Loving Service, Mark S. #2

The next PR subcommittee meeting will be on July 5th,2023 at 8pm CST on Zoom Zoom ID: 876 4582 7208 PWD: 2020

BASC Treasurer Report for May & June 2023

June 11, 2023

This is my report for May and June. I’m sorry it took me so long to complete. I am still trying to get used to how this report is generated. I struggle every month but I think I am getting better. Please be patient with me as I am still learning.

Activities Report

June 11, 2023

Grateful recovering addict named Mike; this is a report for the event. Some of the financial and PR and H & I stuff can be added to by the Treasurer, PR and H & I Subcommittee Chairpersons. I think we had approximately 35 to 40 attendees and plenty of help to get everything set up. The tables all had to be cleaned off, so we left the facility cleaner than when we got there. The food was good, thanks to Chad for his master grill work. We had leftovers that were given out at the end as I’m not going to keep cooked foods and some of the prepared food people brought was tossed out. Because we had more burgers that didn’t get cooked my wife and I purchased that and the buns for them back at the price paid $28.00. My wife and I are purchasing some of the left-over soda and water 21 sodas and 5 waters for $10.00. The Treasurer knows about this and has all the receipts and monies from the picnic. There are still soda 28 cans, flavored water 9 cans, and 15 water bottles left-over. I had Marc the Secretary pick up the coolers, soda, water, and activities supply in a tote. Not sure I thanked everyone for their service so I would like to do so now. Thank you to everyone who helped at the Unity picnic. The total brought back to Area after expense’s would be $158.00, this amount can be confirmed or more accurately by the Treasurer. Thank you for allowing me to serve.

Nothing to Report H&I Report

June 11, 2023

H&I joined with PR to host a Unity Event June 3rd in Evansville. Approx. 40 attendees shared fellowship, food, and speakers throughout the all day event. Two H&I speakers shared their stories and helped in recruiting new volunteers. Two new female volunteers have been approved for work with the Dane Co. Jail and we’re excited that more meetings are being filled at this location. We’ve been exploring one-on-one meetings with inmates serious about recovery and working the steps. A volunteer would set up a regular jail visit for these purposes. A new ‘resources’ area has been established at the Dane Co. Jail for inmates to use upon their release and H&I has asked for info on what literature or information we can provide. We’ll keep AREA updates with this information.

In Loving service Dani & Richard

Good morning Liz,

I apologize for the little bit of a delay in responding back to you, but we are definitely interested in getting an open NA meeting set up as we currently don’t have one. We currently have evenings in our program schedule that can be made available on Fridays and Saturdays anytime between 6-9pm. Please let me know if there may be a time within this that will work for any volunteers you have willing to help set up a meeting. If not, we can try to get a little creative to make room.

One concern I would like to mention is that while I understand that meetings in the community are open to folks who may be under the influence of a substance as long as they have a desire for sobriety, due to us being a treatment facility and keeping our current residents’ safety in mind our staff would not permit someone appearing to be under the influence into a meeting held within our facility.

I’m looking forward to hearing back from you and coordinating together to set something up.

Best,

Christine Volzer, MSW |She, Her, Hers| Program Supervisor
