Public Relations Subcommittee Report
July 9, 2023
Addict called Mark. Even though this is a slow time for Public Relation in the Badgerland Area, we still managed to accomplish many things this last month.
1. Signs: This last month, Mike R. and I distributed about 25 signs to Kwik Trip stores, hospitals, police stations, sheriff, and other places in the Beloit & Janesville and gave 20 signs to Josie F. to distribute to businesses in Jefferson County, This sign drive is going well and we have 4 signs left with the new Helpline number and we refurbished about 10 old signs to display the new number on them.
2. Events: 1. Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st in Beloit. Our subcommittee filled out and submitted the application to have a table for this event. 2. Rally for Recovery, September 9th in Madison at the State Capitol from 10am to 3pm and, 3. Rock for Recovery, October 11 in Janesville at the Craig Center at the Rock County Fairgrounds. I have reached out to all three of these and only reached the Overdose Awareness people. The application for the last two will be forthcoming.
3. Court Systems: Calling Rock County about doing a Panel Discussion. I left a message at Rock Country. I will be calling other counties for the same. I did receive a message from the Rock County Clerk of Court, wanting more information.
4. PR Event Tablecloth: The subcommittee discussed and decided that we need to purchase a new tablecloth for the table we use at the three upcoming events. The tablecloth was not in the 2023 budget because there were numerous bus signs with the old Badgerland Helpline number on them. Madison Metro Advertising helped in one way by providing all fifty new signs with the new Helpline number on them. There are two reasons why the PR Event tablecloth must change now. First, the Wisconsin Region IT subcommittee wants every Area, by the end of the year, to phase out all old Helpline numbers. Second, With the three PR events previously discussed, we would be providing a Helpline number that would be no longer of use. The new tablecloth would have the new Regional Helpline number on it in three places. We also thought it would look more professional to have accurate, up-to-date information on it. It would cost $174.19 after a discount of $85.81. We are asking this body for the approval to purchase this tablecloth today before we leave Area. Even with this purchase, the PR subcommittee will still be under budget for the year by $78.59. This even includes the twenty replacement signs for Janesville/ Beloit needing to be changed now.
The next PR subcommittee meeting will be on August 9th., 2023 at 8pm CDT on Zoom

Badgerland H&I Committee continues it’s Women’s & Men’s weekly meetings at both downtown Dane County Jail locations as well as our Oakhill Correctional location. Sauk County virtual meetings will resume this Tuesday July 11th 6pm and continue weekly. Jefferson County Jail recently requested four Basic Texts & Just For Today’s for their inmates and we were happy to be able to supply these to them.

Still continuing 5 door Wednesday night meetings. Outside attendance is slowly starting to grow but could still use support. Met with Stephanie out in Columbus last week to help start get that meeting going. we’ve decided to cut it down to 1 night a week to make it more manageable until attendance starts to pick up. It will be Thursdays from 530-630 at 321 w mill st in Columbus.
