BADGERLAND AREA Public Relations Subcommittee Report

April 23, 2023

1. Picnic: Everything is pretty ready for the picnic at Leota Lake Park in Evansville on June 3rd. Both PR and H & I will be putting on a workshop and featuring at least one guest speaker.

2. Calendar: The calendar has been updated to reflect the change in this subcommittee’s day and time of each meeting to the Wednesday Night before each Sunday Area meeting.

3. Request by a Dane County Deputy Sheriff: One Of Dane County’s Deputies inquired about attending in an NA meeting for the purpose Getting to know the community better and to “immerse” himself into a group that he doesn’t know much about to create a better “Cohesion” between law enforce and the community...I wrote him an a email explaining to to him that it ok for him as long it was an open meeting

3. Request from a Case Manager: A Case manager at iCare Health Plan in Beloit requested a ride to the Home Group meeting for one of his clients...I wrote him an email explaining that NA does not as rule usually give rides to clients of community agencies or treatment centers.

5. Janesville Gazette Extra: I talked to a lady named Shannon who works in the News Room of the Janesville Gazette and she helps put out a thing the Extra which lists various “helping” agencies which does include a part of Badgerland Area Narcotics Anonymous. Its been a long time since the meetings on the list have been updated. I sent Shannon an email giving her the latest updated list of meetings for the Badgerland Area within the Janesville Gazette’s subscription area.

6. Area PSA Issue: As discussed previously with Bob S of NAWS. there seems to be a need for a Narcotics Anonymous television PSA that could be distributed to large media companies. When trying to get a PSA aired on a local television station, we were directed to a larger media company and determined that it was out of our purview to continue. At that point we contacted NAWS for discussion and to look for a solution. It was determined that this media company had more than 100+ television stations.

7. And lastly, I have written emails to our contacts at Madison Metro and Houck Advertising to thank them for providing their services for the displaying of out bus signs in Madison and Janesville/Beloit respectively. We will be discussing the changing over of 20 bus signs on the Janesville/Beloit buses for 2024.

The next PR subcommittee meeting will be on May 17th,2023 at 11am CD on Zoom
