BACKGROUND General Lifts Ltd started in June 2000 when a group of local businessmen identified a market in relation to lift maintenance and design. The mission was to set up a local company that would guarantee quick response to emergencies and create local opportunities. Since then, a study of the market has been made and technical partners were identified to fulfil the purpose and ensure the highest possible standards in product design and services. Relationships have been developed, honed and fine-tuned until a solid business model has been achieved and the company has been launched.

GENERAL LIFTS General Lifts is a joint venture with General Elevadores XXI, which supplies and installs a range of Service Goods and Passenger lifts for just about every application and market. These include Hotel, Pubs, Restaurants, Public Buildings, Shops, Offices, Warehouses, Hospitals, Schools and Private Homes.

With General Lifts ltd you can feel confident that your lift installation will be project managed every step of the way- from the design stage to final commissioning. We take the time to do the job right, conducting site visits to take measurements and assess the project requirements. We give free friendly advice to ensure you get exactly what you need.

We also offer professional after sales service including annual service agreements to carry out the vital maintenance required to keep lifts in safe working order and ensure minimum disruption in service. We have local engineers ready to undertake any lift repair, maintenance or service work as well as a 24/7 breakdown service, any type and any brand.

General Elevadores XXI have been in the elevator technology market for the past 20 years, it is ISO certified and UNE 166002 compliant in Research and Development. This organisation has undertaken in major projects in Spain such as the Chimenea central termica en Meirama, and also distributes internationally.

There are branches all over Spain with a maintenance portfolio of 4000 lifts in Malaga alone. GEXXI are also operating in Germany as Aufsuge GE XXI GmbH and are located in Dusseldorf. It has recently taken interest in Chile and is set to expand its activities to China. The company has its headquarters in the parquet tecnologico in Malaga, where it also has its research and development facilities and where all new technicians receive training. It has the tallest lift testing tower in Spain where new materials and designs are constantly being developed and tested to ensure its products remain at the forefront of technology and market.

General Lifts Ltd have established a base in Gibraltar to develop local expertise enabling the servicing of lift installations without the importation of specialised labour. In this way we avoid the inevitable frontier delays and ensure the best call out response times.

HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING There are a variety of specialized divisions within the organisation. We have design, manufacturing and installation of lifts; the application of renewable energy and are specialists in difficult access and electronics where we hold several patterns In all, we are structured to ensure that we can meet our clients’ requirements to the most exacting standards.

We employ and train local people and provide them with a basic internship of 12 weeks which will cover basic training in all of the above. Incorporated in our training program is the city and guilds NVQ Level 2 and 3 Maintenance Engineering (1688) courses which provides technical and practical skills plus a sound understanding of safety, tools and equipment. This course also incorporates an understanding of the statutory regulations and organisational requirements, the use of engineering drawings and documents in maintenance activities, working efficiently and effectively in engineering and handovers and confirming completion maintenance activities.

RECRUITING Companies are often assessed by the value they put on training. At General Lifts Ltd, we fully believe that by training our staff they will be better equipped to deliver customer satisfaction. All of our staff is encouraged to participate in training and development to enable us to pass on our years of experience and to ensure that our teams are capable of delivering the very high quality service.

OBJECTIVES We provide complete design and build services and apply a 100% local employment policy currently training employees in order to maintain, repair, modernise and replace any type of lift or access installation. This would be impossible without our full research and development division (R+D+i), where we are able to design bespoke solutions to meet our customer’s needs.

OUR METHOD Is to carry out a thorough examination in a systematic and detailed manner of the lift and all its associated equipment by a competent person. Its aim is to detect any defects which are, or might become dangerous. A survey report will be made detailing any remedial works our actions that may be required KEY TO SUCCESS Communication is key.
