The Timid Ghost became universe famous in one night. He tells us his story when TAK and Spacey visit Hunted Town.

Tak og Spacey fara í Kuklbæ að heimsækja Glám aula. Glámur er orðinn geimsfrægur því sagan um hann var í Æskunni, barnablaðinu, og öll börn lásu hana. Tak and his dog Spacey, visit Haunted Town, to meet the ghost Glaumur. Glaumur has become universe famous. Because the story of Glaumur was in the children‘s magazine, Æskan and every child has read his story.
Allir draugarnir í Kuklbæ eru ósýnilegir núna. Nema þessi, sem tekur vel á móti þeim og býður þeim inn. Every ghost in Haunted Town is invisible right now. Apart from this one, Who greets them well and invites them into his house.
Hvers vegna er húsið ykkar svona skakkt? spyr Tak. Why is your house tilted ? Tak asks.
-Það stendur í brekku. Við ætlum að hafa grillveislu í nótt. Komið þið ekki? -Jú, auðvitað, takk! segja Tak og Geimi. Hvar eru allir? -Ósýnilegir í nótt. Huliðshjálmahóf. It is built on a slope. We are going to have a barbecue party this night. Are you coming along ? Yes, of course, thank you, Tak and Spacey say. Where is everyone in town ? Invisible this night. The party of the invisibles.
Hér í Kuklbæ er samt ýmislegt að sjá: In Haunted town, there are many interesting things to see:
furðudýr sem segist heita U, eða Uuuuuuu, A freakish animal. Who claims his name to be U, or uuuuuuu,
draugafíll, sem er að læra að gera sig ósýnilegan, -- en tekst nú ekki alveg ennþá, a ghost elephant, who is learning to make himself invisible,-- but is not good at it, yet,
talandi ljĂłsastaur, a speaking light pole,
(Geimi skilur nĂş ekki alveg til hvers) (Spacey does not quite understand the purpose)
byggingakrani, jólaköttur,
þriggja valva þriggja ventla tæki
a construction crane, yule cat, three cylinders’ and three valves’ contraption,
HÖLLI RISI Hölli, the giant

þetta venjulega bílastæðavesen, the usual parking problem TOW AWAY ZONE,

a walking house – who rejoices in other peoples’ bad luck,
skautadraugur sem rann á rassinn, (fór svolítið í klessu, en hló). a skating ghost who slipped, and landed on his bottom. (got a bit smashed, but laughed).
Grilldraugurinn kveikir á grillinu. The Grill-ghost lights the grill. Honum þykir loga illa í kolunum, fer á bensínstöðina að kaupa betri kol og meiri uppkveikivökva. He assumes the coals are not burning well. He goes to the petrol-station to buy better coals and more fire-liquid.
Bensínstöðin var lokuð, og þegar hann kemur til baka eru öll kolin brunnin til ösku, og hundarnir búnir að éta pulsurnar. Grillveislunni aflýst. The petrol station was closed, when he returns, all the coals are burned down to ashes, and the dogs had eaten all the hot dogs. The grill party cancelled. Hann vill ekki sjá að hafa myndir af þessu í sögunni. Þvertekur fyrir slíkt. -En þetta á að vera myndasaga, kæri Grilli? -Af og frá. Ég geri mig ósýnilegan. Engar myndir verða af hrakförum mínum He refuses to have any pictures of his mess in the story. Puts a ban on that. But this is a cartoon story, my dear Grilly. No way. I make myself invisible. No pictures of my fiasco.
Glámur auli býðst nú til að bjarga næturskemmtuninni með því að sýna öllum hvernig hann varð geimsfrægur Nú glaðnar yfir þeim í Kuklbæ, draugunum, Taki og Geima. Glaumur, the timid, now offers to save the night party, by telling the story of how he became universe famous. Now everybody was happy again in Haunted Town, all the ghosts, Tak, and Spacey.
Hér kemur sagan. -Svona byrjaði þetta þegar Glámur auli fæddist, segir Auli. Now Timid starts telling his story: -This is how the story began, when Glaumur, the timid, was born, Timid says.
Grubby, his father, said: He will become the most terrifying ghost in Haunted Town.
And Gribba, his mother, said: He will scare everyone !
They named him Glaumur. (Note: Glรกmur is the famous ghost in the Icelandic Sagas, Grettis-Saga).
But Glaumur is a faint-hearted ghost. Everyone calls him Timid. He is afraid of the dark. He is sensitive to cold. Completely gutless. He dears not frighten anyone.
Every kid-ghost in Haunted Town is ice-skating. They bully each other and make traps with their scarves to make each other trip over on the ice. But Timid sits on the bank. His toes are freezing.
He invents heated skates. To begin with, he uses coal, but on lighting the fire, the shoes burn up. So he replaces the coal with batteries.
Then he skates to the bullies on the ice. He forgets to unplug the batteries and the skates become too hot,
and melt stripes into the ice. The other ghosts have to stop bullying and teasing. They become furious and go and tell his parents. They are a nasty lot.
Gribba and Grubby become angry: Hopeless, disappointing ghost kid, who bears the name Glaumur, but is fainthearted Timid.
When Timid‘s mother wakes him up, he goes out of bed on the wrong side.
Gribba wakes him up in the evening.
The ghosts always go to bed in the morning. As his bed is close to the wall, he falls through the wall into the snow. Of course he penetrates the wall - he is a ghost.
Gribba starts laughing and Grubby too.
Grubby says: You must scare someone this night, you timid thing.
Gribba says: A little girl is alone home, sleeping. Her parents went to the cinema and left her alone at home. Go and scare her. No ghost will ever talk to you if you don‘t scare anyone.
Timid is afraid of the dark. The little girl is alone at home. She sleeps in her bed. Booooo ! says Timid, but she does not wake up.
BOOOOO ! says Timid (louder). And the little girl wakes up.
She starts laughing and says: You are funny. What’s your name ?
I am nick-named Timid and my bed is called the insecure place of Glaumur, so the other ghosts call me Timid in the insecure place.
But my name is Glaumur and I live in Haunted Town. I‘m a ghost and I‘m supposed to scare you, or my mother will abandon me.
The little girl asks: Do you want to play with me ? I am alone at home.
I am afraid of the dark, Timid says. You can have my torch, says the little girl.
The little girl‘s parents are now on their way home from the cinema.
They see a ghost in the little girl‘s room, and become dreadfully afraid and run inside.
Timid becomes so scared, that he jumps up to the ceiling on the bedroom.
The girl‘s parents think that this is an evil ghost and become terribly afraid. (-Ég lít út fyrir að vera svona ógurlegur vegna þess að ég er á hvolfi! bætir Glámur inní til skýringar. -Pabbinn og mamman sjá ekki aulasvipinn á mér þar sem ég stend þarna í loftinu, ekki á gólfinu, skjálfandi og skíthræddur!) (Timid inserts here a comment to clarify: I look so scary because I am upside down. The parents can‘t see how scared I am, where I stand upside down in the ceiling, not on the floor, shivering, shaking, and scared.)

Gribba and Grubby are proud of their son, Timid, because he could scare the people.

Everybody applauses Timid and the story about how he became universe famous. Timid did his best. He saved the party of the invisibles and the grill party, that never was. We applause !!
