LOUD SPEAKER
Hello Ivylanders! I know it has been a while since the last newsletter around this time last year. We hope you didn’t miss us
THE
too much, but the good news is that there are a lot of exciting things happening. Since then we’ve seen the borough getting back to “normal” with a Bonfire and Hayride, visits from Santa and the Easter Bunny, a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, Symphony and Rock Concerts, a 5K Race, Pancake Breakfasts and more. BIG PLANS are underway, as you’ll read in this edition, for our upcoming 150th Anniversary Celebration next year. So as we observe Thanksgiving, there is certainly a lot to be thankful for. We wish you all the best and look forward to a wonderous holiday season in our little borough.

150th Celebration Plans Shaping Up Making it one for the history books
The original Loud Speaker, founded in 1925, was a local institution not only in Ivyland but in all of the surrounding areas. Much more than an advertising circular, the paper was filled with the wisdom and pithy humor of its editor, H. H. Eddowes. Ivyland and The Loud Speaker belonged together (and still do). Today we try to bring a little of that spirit back to the Borough with an updated publication that has its roots in the past and its focus on the present. We hope you enjoy it.

Are you an Ivylander with talent? We want you! Calling on all talented residents, if you or someone in your home has talent worthy of an audience, let us know. The Ivyland 150th Anniversary Committee is seeking potential performers for the big June 24th event next year for both the main and secondary stages. So if you are musical, can dance, are a magician, comedian or have other talents - let us know about it. Group acts welcomed, but you must have an Ivyland resident as a member. Contact us at ivyland150@ivylandborough.org and tell us (or show us) what you can do.
June 24th, 2023 is the official 150th anniversary date of the founding of Ivyland. Since March, the Ivyland Heritage Association and a group of residents and local volunteers have been gathering each month to plan the celebration activities for next year. A lot of progress has been made, but there is still much work to be done. The committee has been providing updates to borough council and has created a special event page on Facebook (facebook.com/groups/ivyland150th) to post updates, gather volunteers and do some fundraising. If you haven’t joined the page yet, please do! We realize not everyone is on Facebook, so a similar page will be put on the Ivyland borough website as well. And of course, we’ll give updates here in The Loud Speaker, too. For those of you who have been around for the 140th, the 125th and even the 100th Anniversary events, you know how wonderful these are. The plan is to follow the success of these past events with borough-wide activities for all residents and visitors, too. The big celebration day is set for Saturday, June 24th 2023. Expect lots of music, food, activities for the kids, history displays, local art, demonstrations and other entertainment. More details to come. We are very excited to announce that the Warminster Symphony Orchestra has agreed to be our event finale that day with their annual Concert in the Park.
Firing up the fundraising Big celebrations require a big budget and the Ivyland Heritage Association has been working hard on all types of fundraising to make this event as great as it can be for everyone. We had a fundraising concert this summer featuring resident James Cantore and his band, Friday Night Phoenix – it was a good time and a great success (thank you James!). You may be familiar with the Ivyland-themed holiday ornaments that have been a way to raise money for many years and 2022 is no exception. This year’s ornament features our current Borough Hall – so get yours now. We have other great Ivyland items for sale including commemorative 150th Anniversary T-shirts, a 2023 Ivyland Historical Wall Calendar and coming soon a limited edition Ivyland 150th tile from the Moravian Pottery

Sponsorships are also essential to the success of our event. If you are a business owner who would like to be a sponsor, or work for a business who you think would be willing sponsor – let us know.
