DEAR SHERRY, I was very honored when Gil Cates told me that you had requested that I present your award at Backstage at the Geffen, not only would it have been an honor but also a great joy. Unfortunately, to my regret, I will be out of town that evening.

From the first time we had lunch in the Paramount commissary, to the many years we worked together, you have always been very special to me. When you became the first woman to run a studio, you showed “The Boys” how it should be done, with intelligence, creativity and compassion. I’m sorry I won’t be with you to tell those gathered to honor you, how much I respect you and how much I value our friendship.
