Did you know there are more than books, movies and music to checkout at the Geauga County Public Library?
Telescopes: The Library of Things collection started in 2019 with a collaboration with Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society, the Foundation for Geauga Parks, and Geauga Park District Five tabletop telescopes were purchased by the Foundation for Geauga Parks Altogether, the telescopes have been checked out 120 times
Hotspots: The most popular things to check out are mobile hotspots These units are handy if you are going on vacation or need to add internet accessibility at home During a recent power outage, patrons used them to continue to work from home
Yard Games: Last summer, we added 15 yard games that were popular for outdoor fun Even though the weather has cooled, you can still check out some of these games to play in your living room such as giant checkers
Juvenile Kits: Youth Service staff assembled 4 types of learning kits that boost early literacy There are Lit Boxes which are totes with a toy and a game to make learning tactile and fun There are backpacks full of books and toys called Early Readers Backpacks, handy to grab and have on the go Two years ago, we added STEAM Kits STEAM Kits spark learning through emphasizing science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics Most recently, the library partnered with RePlay for Kids The organization donated 26 Adaptive Toys that make it as easy as hitting a button to play with toys and make reading fun

We would like to invite you to our new maker space, the Chardon Creativity Center (C3)! The space is located in the Chardon High School (369 Maple Ave., Chardon, OH) and saw its first round of visitors on Oct. 21st during its grand opening
Since C3 is within the Chardon High School, its hours of operation and use by patrons differs from the Bainbridge Branch Maker Space The biggest difference is that C3 will be open Monday - Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and can only be accessed by reserving a time slot Time slots can be reserved on our website at GeaugaLibrary.net/Maker-Spaces/ or by calling either our Bainbridge or Chardon Branch
C3 currently has a number of unique machines (with more on the way) for you to use to bring your imagination and creativity to life! Our new space currently houses a 3D scanner, direct-to-garment printer, heat press, largeformat printer, and laser engraver; and has a CNC machine and UV printer on the way right now (please note that these machines will require additional training before use)

WHAT IS IT?
A maker space is a self-service resource where patrons can use different equipment to explore, design, and create.
WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED?
Geauga County Public Library has two maker spaces. One can be found at the Bainbridge Branch (17222 Snyder Rd., Chagrin Falls, OH 44023), and the other at the Chardon Creativity Center inside Chardon High School (369 Maple Ave., Chardon, OH 44024), across the street from the Chardon Municipal Pool.
HOW TO USE IT?
You must have a valid Geauga County Public Library/CLEVNET library card, taken the mandatory training for the equipment of your choice and signed the user agreement before you can reserve a session. You can register for training sessions online.
WHAT’S THE COST?
There will be a $1 minimum for all machines. Bring in your own materials such as:
