Dear industry stakeholders,

As AIMSAD, the umbrella organization of the Turkish woodworking machinery industry, I would like to share with you my satisfaction for the cooperation we have made with Furniture & Joinery Production Magazine. With this cooperation we made, we had the chance to directly convey the works of AIMSAD, especially our sector, to you. The Turkish woodworking machinery industry, which has become one of the important players in the world woodworking machinery industry with its high-tech machinery and services offered to the market, broke a new record by increasing its exports by 15.69 percent at the end of 2021. Our sector, which has succeeded in breaking its record for the fourth time in a row, realized its total exports at the level of 126 million 629 thousand dollars in 2021. The total production of our industry, which has increased its production capacities in order to best meet the machinery demands from many different countries of the world, has also increased by 18.44 percent. As we close 2021 with great success, we are receiving signals that we will achieve new successes in 2022. According to the 5-month data of 2022, the production of the AİM sector increased by 28 percent compared to the previous period and reached 155 million dollars, its exports increased by 25 percent to 63 million dollars, and its imports increased by 20 percent to 30 million dollars. In the same period; While the ratio of exports to imports was 213 percent, the AİM sector continued to have foreign trade surplus. As AIMSAD, we try to do our part to represent our industry, which achieves new successes every year, in the best way, and in this context, we participate in fairs organized in many parts of the world. While talking about the fairs, I would like to tell you about the WoodTech Fair, which will be held for the 35th time this year. Organized by Reed Tüyap Fuarcılık in cooperation with AIMSAD and being the biggest meeting point of the sector in the Eurasia Region, WoodTech Fair will be held at Tüyap Fair and Congress Center between 22-26 October 2022 this year. We would be pleased to see everyone who wants to witness the success of our sector stakeholders closely at our fair.

The bilateral relations between Türkiye and the United Kingdom that have developed over the years

Türkiye-United Kingdom relations, which have a multidimensional structure with the effect of strong ties from history, have developed greatly over the years. Thanks to these positive developments, Türkiye has taken its place among the UK’s priority import markets. For Türkiye, England is one of the priority trade markets in many product groups. According to TUIK data; The United Kingdom became the third country to which Türkiye exports the most and the 11th country to which it imports the most in 2021. Realizing a total export of 13.7 billion dollars to the United Kingdom in 2021, Türkiye increased its export rate by 22 percent in 2020. Among the products that Türkiye exports to the UK, there are products used in the automotive main and sub-industry, furniture, electronics, clothing, machinery, packaging materials, precious metals, construction materials, white goods and food materials. The commercial relations of the United Kingdom, which is an important importer country in the woodworking machinery sector, with Türkiye are developing every year. The Turkish woodworking machinery industry is among the first choices of importing countries with its advantageous prices and quality products. Realizing a total of 256 million dollars of woodworking machinery imports in 2021, the United Kingdom is the fourth country to which Türkiye exports the most machinery. With its state-of-theart machinery, the Turkish woodworking machinery industry is also appreciated by its European competitors. In 2021, Türkiye’s total woodworking machinery exports to the UK were over $4.5 million. Turkish woodworking machinery sector once again broke an export record

Attracting the attention of the whole world with the machines it produces, the Turkish woodworking machinery sector broke the export record again at the end of 2021, equaling its record for the fourth time in a row. At the end of 2021, the woodworking machinery industry increased its exports by 15 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In addition to exports, there was an increase in production, domestic sales and import rates.

The Turkish woodworking machinery industry, which has become one of the important players in the world woodworking machinery industry with the high-tech machinery and services it offers to the market, can’t get enough of the record. The woodworking machinery industry, which realized the highest export of all time with 110 million dollars at the end of 2020, broke a new record by increasing its exports by 15.69 percent at the end of 2021. When the export figures are examined, it is seen that the total export of the sector at the end of 2021 was realized at the level of 126 million 629 thousand dollars.

The production of the sector, which increases its production capacities every year to meet the demands of machinery from many different countries, increased by 18.44 percent at the end of 2021 and reached 301 million 498 thousand dollars. There was also a significant increase in domestic sales. According to this; In the period of December-January 2021, domestic sales increased by 31.45 percent and a total of 251 million 384 thousand dollars was sold. At the end of 2021, imports increased by 65.81 percent and amounted to 76 million 515 thousand dollars. At the end of 2021, the ratio of exports to imports was 165 percent, while the foreign trade balance was 50 million 114 thousand dollars.

United Kingdom is one of the important export markets for Türkiye

The Turkish woodworking machinery sector, which exports to many different regions of the world, made the highest export to Iraq with 7 million 427 thousand dollars in 2021. Russia followed Iraq with 6 million 672 thousand dollars. After the Russian Federation; Bulgaria with 4 million 868 thousand dollars, the United Kingdom with 4 million 595 thousand dollars, Poland with 4 million 439 thousand dollars, Italy with 4 million 376 thousand dollars, Algeria with 3 million 850 thousand dollars, Kosovo with 3 million 813 thousand dollars, Romania with 3 million 802 thousand dollars and the United Arab Emirates with 3 million 651 thousand dollars.

Most imports were made from China

When the import data are analyzed, it is seen that Türkiye mostly imports woodworking machinery from China in 2021. Türkiye, which ranked first in the import list for the first time, imported a total of 26 million dollars of woodworking machinery from China. After China, the country we import the most is Germany with 22 million 565 thousand dollars. Italy, Austria, Taiwan, Denmark, India, Canada and Spain followed Germany respectively.

The most exports took place in the machines in the others group

Looking at the product groups, it was seen that the highest export was made in the machines in the others group with 40 million 977 thousand dollars in 2021. In the ranking of the countries with the highest export, processing centers came in second place with 34 million 873 thousand dollars. With exports of 15 million 161 thousand dollars, the machines that perform various machine operations without changing tools among these operations ranked third, followed by sawing machines with 11 million 171 thousand dollars. Imported product groups rates have changed compared to 2020

In this context, AIMSAD, which has made a great contribution to the sector with its cooperation with Tüyap, will also be the most important supporter of the ALL4WOOD Fair, which is planned to be held in the Balkans and Turkic Republics as of 2023. In this fair, which will be organized by Tüyap, representatives of the woodworking machinery sector, which are members of AIMSAD, will exhibit their products and services.

The portal is visited especially from India, USA, China, United Kingdom, Iran, Egypt, Germany, United Arab Emirates and Russia. The portal, which received a total of 55 thousand visits in 2021, is offered to AIMSAD members free of charge.

AIMSAD Magazine takes the pulse of the sector

With the strength and support it received from its members within AIMSAD, it started to publish AIMSAD Magazine as of July-August 2015. Published bimonthly, each issue of the magazine is printed and distributed as 4,000 copies. Keeping the pulse of the sector, AIMSAD Magazine gains the appreciation of the entire sector with its contents.

Represents Türkiye in international platforms

AIMSAD, which aims to become a member of international sectoral non-governmental organizations, especially in Europe, and to represent Türkiye in these formations, took the first steps of this goal by participating in the General Assembly of the European Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers Federation (EUMABOIS) held in Verona, Italy on September 12, 2014. AIMSAD became a member of EUMABOIS as of the end of 2014 and was elected as a Member of the EUMABOIS Board of Directors at the general assembly held in Lucerne, Switzerland in September 2016. AIMSAD also hosted the EUMABOIS General Assembly in Türkiye in 2018.

Visited by more than 50 thousand unique visitors, the website plays an important role in promoting Turkish woodworking machines to the whole world.

AIMSAD continues its efforts to support the exports of its member companies. In this context, member companies can easily introduce their machines to their target markets with the www.turkishwoodworkingmachinery.com portal launched in 2020. The portal, which is a very important work for the woodworking machinery industry, has received more than 50 thousand visits so far. When the data of the website were analyzed, it was seen that 88 percent of the number of visitors in question were new visitors. Each member has an online store of their own company on the website, which is visited especially from India, USA, China, United Kingdom, Iran, Egypt, Germany, United Arab Emirates and Russia. In this online store, the company’s contact information, company product catalogs, all product-related details and even photos and videos can be accessed.

Almost 500 product entry

Up to now, nearly 500 products in 40 different categories have been entered on the www.turkishwoodworkingmachinery.com portal, which includes 70 AIMSAD members. Attaching great importance to the promotion of the platform that AIMSAD member companies can use free of charge, AIMSAD continues to work on the website in international fairs and organizations it participates in. In the portal, where companies can place additional banner advertisements, the revenues obtained from the advertisements are also used in the Google and social media promotions of the site. 65% of the visitors to the portal, which is easily accessible via mobile devices, were organic visitors. 35% of them visited the site through Google ads.

“We will continue to promote the portal without a break”

Prepared entirely in English, the website contains detailed information about AIMSAD, the woodworking machinery industry, Türkiye’s general information and sectoral news.
