“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” that cool ride you sit in becomes your “Time Machine”

Does this happen to you when you drive your cool ride?

practical when life changed for you. You sold it and moved on with life. For most of us, this was true. Move forward in life and you are in a position to have some fun. What do you do, go looking for that cool ride you had years ago. Not the exact one, but one close to it. You find it, fix it up, and you are nothing but smiles every time you are near it or in it. Just like the original movie and the re-make, “The Time Machine”, that cool ride you sit in becomes your “Time Machine” just like the lead character in the movies. Instead of pushing a lever to go back in time, you fire up that motor, rev it up a little , grab that gearshift lever and move down the road. Tell me you don’t think about the good times you had in earlier days and years while you drive that cool car. I do! Our cars and trucks are our time machines to happier times, just like listening to “oldies” music….yea we do that too. Go jump in that time machine of yours and have some fun today, it’s tomorrows memories...

All our readers may not be able to relate to this, but I am willing to take the bet, if you are north of 45 years young, you probably will. If you are somewhat younger, hang on cause you will catch up fast and you may remember this later in life When you jump into your cool ride, be it hot rod, muscle car or trick truck, a lot of them are pre-’72 vintage. The reason they are pre-’72, is you had one or something like it when you were younger. Your life evolved around that cool car. It took you places, and you had nothing but BIG fun every time you drove it. Odds are, like me, that cool ride was your only set of wheels. Life got in the way of your cool car. You may have been drafted, gone to college, got married and started a family or any number of things that made that cool ride not

Detroit Speed Inc. is opening its shop doors on Oct. 19 in Mooresville, North Carolina, to car enthusiasts and the general public. The Detroit Speed Open House—featuring cars, food and music—will begin at the close of Friday’s Goodguys Rod & Custom Association’s 25th Southeastern Nationals. The shop is planning to host more than 1,000 spectators and 300 hot rods, trucks and muscle cars. Attendees will be invited to tour the Detroit Speed project shop, talk to the experts in the state-of-the-art suspension production facility, and take pictures with the company’s race cars. The shop also will put on a concert during the open house, featuring country musicians James Otto and Jason Tucker. The music—sponsored by JRi Shocks and GearFX Driveline—will start at 7 p.m., according to Detroit Speed. Those with an appetite at the event can order a BBQ dinner plate for $5 (as long as they're early enough), with all proceeds set to be donated to the B.R.A.K.E.S. program. 6

OCT 2018 OCT 13: HOLLAND TX: 2ND ANNUAL VINTAGE DRAGS: Presented by the Little River Dragway and located at 13314 State Highway 95. Historic Little River Dragway has been a piece of Texas hot rodding history since it opened in 1957. That history lives on today. The Vintage Drags are dedicated to vintage speed. You will see early style

hot rods, racecars, gassers, dragsters and more tearing down the same old dragstrip in the heart of Texas that has been raced on for decades. This is an event that you will need to experience in person to appreciate. “RUN WHAT YA BRUNG”: Traditionally-built hot rods, stock cars, gassers and dragsters, all American made 1975 and earlier are welcome to come have fun with some drag racing out on this great old dragstrip. Come “run what ya brung” – or just take in the sights and sounds of this unique event. ADMISSION: Spectators & Racers: Gates open at 9:00 AM. Time Trials/ Open Test-N-Tune 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon. Gate Admission $10.00 per person 12 & under free. Bring your own beer – coolers are allowed no glass bottles. Soda & Food Concession stand on site. Free parking. Free Camping overnight (No hookups). DRAG RACING RULES: Cars must be American made, 1975 and older to qualify to race on Saturday no euro sports cars, etc. This event is focused on early American drag racing. We are running 1/8 MILE RACES only on the dragstrip. Your car must pass tech inspection in order to race. That means good tires, no loose pieces on your car, no fluid leaks or any other safety issues. Seatbelts and helmets are required for ALL cars and racers – we want everyone to be safe. To race in elimination races, you must return to the staging lanes after time trials and we will mark

your dial-in time and class on your windshield. During elimination rounds, racers will line up within each class and face off by dial-in times. Your dial-in time is set by your fastest pass during time trials, no sandbagging and breaks at the end – run as fast as you can, this is a race! RACING CLASSIFICATIONS: Your racing class is determined by the time you are running on the track during time trials. We are running 1/8 MILE RACES on the dragstrip. The ET intervals reflect the 1/8 MILE distance for the races. If you have any question please contact Mike Garvin @ 254-982-0119

OCT 2018 OCT 13: ST CHARLES MO: ST LOUIS HOT ROD HUNDRED: The Hot Rod Hundred is designed to bring back something that has been missing for the last few decades… driving. The StL Hot Rod Hundred is... well, if you've been, you know, if you don't, you've missed out. If you've got a pre-65 hotrod or custom, sign up, come out and

find out for yourself. Don’t want to drive your precious hot rod or custom that far? Maybe this event isn’t for you. This event embraces road chips and bug guts as a badge of honor. Go a hundred or go home. The starting point is Francis Howell High School, 7001 MO-94, St Charles, MO 63304. We will be ending at the Rennick Riverfront Park Pavilion, Washington, MO. The Light for the Lost cook team will be preparing a great lunch for all the participants. Lunch is included with your registration, but there will also be a tip jar for them, should you want to help their fund raising efforts towards missionary literature. Schedule of events: 7:45AM - Checkin begins. 8:30AM - Check-in closes. 8:45AM - Driver meeting. 9:00AM – Departure. Due to the number of registered cars this year, it's highly probable that stopping places along the route will not accommodate all of us to gather at one time. This is actually a good thing, as it will allow participants to stop when they want/ need to along the way, for bio-breaks, fuel, etc. PLEASE NOTE - There are a few specific changes to the registrations for 2018 due to the logistics of the event: The focus of the event will be for cars and trucks 1964 and older. (If you participated in a prior event, you are still welcome!). All pre-registration entries must be postmarked by September 9, 2018 to receive the event T-shirt. You may still register

after September 9, but registration will be $30, and you may or may not get a Tshirt, as we will be limited on the "extra" shirts that we order. The organizers may choose to cap the number of registered participants accepted based on the final route chosen. Registration is $30 which includes 1 event t-shirt and lunch for 2. Additional meals are $7/ea and additional T-shirts are $15/ea.
