Hi, my name is Kiersten! I am a graphic designer and an illustrator! Throughout this program I have grown my confidence tremendously, when I first started it was extremely hard for me to take criticism. Now criticism is what I thrive off of. I am inspired by the people who surround me, I love looking at other people’s work and what they are capable of!

Born and raised in the PNW, I love all aspects of the Coeur d’ Alene area I’ve grown up in. I can’t wait to gain experience in the design environment that will eventually lead to my own free-lance. Throughout my grade school years I took every art class, and then in my junior year I took a Graphic Design course. From there I saw how successful I was in it and saw a whole new branch of art. I look forward to using my design and people skills after graduation to create a successful life for myself.

I am a designer who loves galaxies, video games, and spooky stuff. My hobbies consist of artwork of different types, cosplaying, and comic drawing/writing. I hope to be able to get the skills I need to get a job in animation or video game development. I have a passion for storytelling, and I want to share it with the world.
When first getting into Graphic design I didn’t have much experience with the field. I only knew it as a possible starting place to becoming a video game designer. As I spent more time in the program, I learned that it was more than that. In this program I have learned many things concerning the importance of layout, file name, font choice, communication, time management, and having a process. I can honestly say that the experiences gathered in the program will help me moving forward to become a video game designer and possibly further in my life.

Hi, my name is Lily funk. I am a graphic designer and illustrator. I want to make people happy and smile when they see my designs. This program has helped me to gain confidence and have a more discerning eye in my work. Besides design I love cosmetology because you can transform someone, or you can just enhance their natural features. What I love about cosplay is the smile people have and how excited they can be when they see their favorite characters brought to life.
Hello, I’m Rhett Candela and joining the GDES program was a very interesting experience I had no idea what to expect. I took the last seat in my section and I didn’t have a real idea of what design was, but I have pushed myself to learn new skills and learn a new point of view in the world around me. This program made me see everything in a new light because design is everywhere. In GDES I have learned how to organize, communicate, and to work in a professional workflow to produce quality projects.

Hello, my name is Tatum Hartley. I was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene Idaho; therefore, I love being outdoors and exploring nature, which is where I gain much of my inspiration. When I have free time, I also like drawing and painting. I have always had a knack for art and creativity. Though, I have had to work very hard to get where I am today. I have made many good friends in the NIC graphic design program, though I am excited to graduate and continue my learning though work and experience.
My name is Aidan Oliverio, growing up art has always been a part of my life. When I discovered graphic design as a career opportunity, I poured everything I had into learning about all the different forms. Graduating with a degree in both graphic design and Web design has been a challenge, but it has prepared me for whatever the industry may through at me. I got two degrees because I enjoy all forms of graphic design and want to make myself invaluable.
My passion is engineering solutions/ innovating. I’m a systems thinker and I enjoy others who are logical, see the big picture and work autonomously toward a shared vision. A groundbreaker and team player, if there isn’t a framework, I create one. I’m a plant (creative) and a resource investigator on a team. In my personal life and at work, it’s about service. I have a background in product marketing for technical products marketed to engineers. This time around, I am graduating with an associate in web design and certificate in graphic design.

Hi, I’m Justine Juarez and I am a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and artist. I have always been involved in art since I was a kid. I fell in love with the concept of design early on in my high school career which was over 10 years ago! It spoke volumes to me as far as being able to be creative and have a voice through art and design. I am very detail oriented, “It’s all in the details!”, self-motivated and also a team player. I had a chance to work collaboratively for our Portfolio show and was given the privilege of being the Art Director. I love a challenge and pushing myself both creatively and personally.

I am originally from the Boise, Idaho area and moved to Couer d’Alene for college, I didn’t always know I wanted to be a graphic designer, but I have always enjoyed expressing myself. The graphic design program at NIC gave me the opportunity to further express myself by teaching me the design tools, and principles. I discovered myself through the diversity of classes in this program and developed into a graphic designer and videographer. Through the Graphic Design program at NIC I’ve come to discover a passion for video that led to an internship and blessing, working as a volunteer videographer for the Union Gospel Mission.
Ever since I was in middle school, I always had a very strong interest in graphic design. I always liked drawing shapes, studying logos, how their designs work, and playing with different colors. I was in another graphic design program when I was in high school, and I ended up creating my very first professional logo for my high school teacher. I loved the process and creativeness that this profession had to offer, so I decided to extend my skills even further and went for a major in graphic design in college.

This is more than just a simple book quote. I love seeing this as a ersonal philosophy to find inspiration in the work of others and find a way to make it your own. Humans have been around for thousands of years. Creating something without a correlation to the past is difficult, but instead of boring repetition take this old thing and find some way to make it new and original in its own merits. I love to walk around our class and find inspiration in the ways other people tackle a project and I might take some small form or idea from that inspiration and find a way to make it my own.
