As 2024 concludeD, it had been an exciting and successful year for the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club (GCTMC). Our events have grown in both size and impact, and we are excited for what lies ahead in 2025
The Baden Civil SEQ Khanacross Series has been a standout, with all six rounds sold out, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for grassroots motorsport in our region We hosted three rounds at Tamborine and partnered with the Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club at the Showgrounds and Ipswich West Moreton at Willowbank Park the first Khanacross event at this venue. Fierce competition, particularly in the Juniors and Ladies classes, made this series a highlight of the year.
A major addition to our calendar was the Yeah The Girls Khanacross, led by Glenn Brinkmann This event provided women of all ages the opportunity to showcase their skills and raise over $7,500 for the Endometriosis Charity. With participants from across the country, this event was a resounding success, and we look forward to making it an annual feature We also welcomed the return of the Working Dog Rally in Bonalbo, which reached new heights this year. Notable motorsport figures such as former Subaru Factory Driver Dean Herridge, WRC commentator Colin Clark, and rally legend Toby Price, who made his stage rally debut in Brinkmann’s KICKASS EVO 9. This solidified the rally’s status as one of the region’s premier motorsport events Keep an eye on 2025 something special is in the works!
We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our volunteers, 180+ members, and community supporters. Your commitment is the backbone of our club, and we thank our sponsors for their continued support As we approach our 57th year, we’re excited to build on the success of 2024. We aim to grow our Junior membership and expand our events calendar in 2025, vital for nurturing the next generation of motorsport stars With a passionate community and a bright future, we’re confident GCTMC will continue to thrive. Thank you for your support We look forward to another exciting year!

Round six of the Baden Civil SEQ Khanacross series marks the conclusion and final round of this year’s Khanacross series Following a great year of racing, we had a terrific turnout for the final round, with club members and their families enjoying the warm weather and sunshine
It was Isaac Hart in his Mitsubishi Evo 8 who took out the overall first for our final round, followed closely by Toby Musico in his Subaru WRX and chased up by Peter Tomlinson in his Subaru Legacy. Some familiar podium names in this round’s junior division., Buster Bailey in his Hyundai Excel for first place, followed by Jude Livermore in his Nissan Pulsar and followed up by Billy Parrish in the Hyundai Excel. Michelle Van Der Wilk and her Honda Civic fought hard for female outright. Buster Bailey also went home with class A, Jude Livermore picked up another win with class B, Cassie Garth for class C, John Panozzo pickedup class D, and Isaac Hart went with another win with class E.

December 18th saw GCTMC’s first social karting night kick off With over 30 drivers battling out across the night, we saw some great racing across all levels. With seasoned drivers such as Collin O’Brien and Glenn Brinkman giving the young guns a run for their money, as well as many of our GCTMC officials, parents and supporters getting sideways behind the wheel at Slideways Go-Karting Nerang.
We saw service park regular, Declan Waller step away from working on cars and take the top step with Khanacross regular Jude Livermore close behind in second place and Paul Jansen rounded off the podium in third Cassie Garth took home the inaugural wooden spoon award. Overall, the night was a great success for all to enjoy and we look forward to more to come in 2025

October saw GCTMC break our drought for Rallying, bringing back the Tyres and More Hemmant, Working Dog Rally Taking to the town of Bonalbo NSW, crews, teams and spectators were busting at the bit for some dirt action
Saturday night saw the event kick off with a street party and ceremonial start in town Packing the main strip of Bonalbo, all were there to see the excitement the Rally cars had to offer With big names such as Toby Price and Dean Herridge, as well as Queensland topshots Williams/Jones and New South Wales Hoy/Stean, all was set for an action packed day to come.
With 3 heats of 3 stages and a field of just under 60 cars, Sunday did not disappoint. Heat 1 saw a promising start for Hoy/Stean (#1) in the lead with Price/Killbride (#87) following and Redhead/Winwood-Smith (#3) right on their rear bumper.
However, unfortunate issues saw the retirements of both crews from car #87 and #3 This saw Hoy/Stean only extend their lead in the Mistibishi Evo with Keough/Bennett finishing the event in second in their almighty Audi Quattro and Brinkman/Hughes rounding off the podium in the classic Ford Escort Cosworth.
Broughton/Hausmann rounded out the win for the novice class and Side Luke took the clubman drivers win and Kevin O’Connor taking the co-driver win. Also an impressive effort for club member and great supporter of Clay Badenoch finishing 11th outright
Gold Coast Tweed Motor Sporting Club are stoked by the result if this event and thank all of our major sponsors for their support, Tyres & More Hemmant, KickAss Products, Accent Benchtops, Buccini Transport, Dog n Bull Pub and the Kyogle Council, these events simply do not happen without your support and our amazing team of volunteers/officials, thank you. We look forward to the return of the Working Dog Rally in a Rallypsrint format for 2025 and bring on the return for the full Working Dog Rally in 2026.
