OSC PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: WE’RE HERE TO HELP WITH HB 318!
OHIO SCHOOLS
Our School Security Audit Program can help your district complete the new Ohio Homeland Security (OHS) Survey due Sept. 12
OSC Safety Consultant, Tim DelVecchio, conducts table top exercise for administrators at Ravenna Schools (Photo courtesy of the Record-Courier) The Ohio Governor recently signed House Bill 318, which requires the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), in consultation with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, to conduct a study of school security in existing public and chartered nonpublic school buildings. The study requires the following data to be collected from your schools: • The types of physical security measures used in school buildings; • Options for possible security upgrades for school buildings; • An analysis of the most cost-effective ways to add physical security changes to existing school buildings; • The number of school buildings with a school resource officer; • The number of school buildings with other school security personnel not reported in division (4) of this section, including school buildings that use retired law enforcement as school security; and • Recommendations for improving school security.
