Over 200 nonprofit representatives, philanthropists, business leaders and government officials gathered for the second annual Celebration of Community on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial to celebrate and recognize the critical role of nonprofit organizations in making our community a better place to live. “We are continually inspired by the programs and services of nonprofit organizations and the commitment and passion of nonprofit professionals in carrying out their missions,” said Les Garner, President & CEO of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation. “It is through the excellent work of nonprofit organizations
that donors, volunteers and the community can have an impact on the lives of citizens in our community.” The program featured inspiring stories of nonprofits making a difference in our community through a series of dialogue and videos. The nonprofits featured included Theatre Cedar Rapids, Foundation 2 and Neighborhood Transportation Services. Four nonprofit excellence awards were also presented to nonprofit professionals who go above and beyond to support the mission of their organizations.
