TUESDAY 10 NOVEMBER, 2026

Denise Mina After a peripatetic childhood in Glasgow, Paris, London, Invergordon, Bergen and Perth, Denise Mina left school early. Denise worked a number of jobs before studying at night school to get into the University of Glasgow Law School. Denise went on to pursue a PhD at Strathclyde and write her first novel. This was Garnethill, published in 1998, which won the Crime Writers' Association John Creasy Dagger for Best First Crime Novel. Denise will continue with her history of championing our work at GCRC and join the full day as the host/speaker. The Joyous Choir The Joyous Choir will open our event with unique and familiar songs to help us feel motivated and united as we begin our day of experiences with everyone present.

VOICE

Sabina Kadić-Mackenzie Sabina is a Senior Partner at Charlotte Street Partners and Chair of Beyond Srebrenica, a genocide education charity dedicated to keeping the history and lessons of the 1992–1995 Bosnian war alive. Through her work with Beyond Srebrenica, Sabina champions education and awareness of the devastating human impact of conflict, including the use of wartime rape as a weapon of war and its enduring consequences for women and girls. Her work brings together public engagement, education, and advocacy to ensure that the experiences of survivors are remembered, understood, and heard, and that the lessons of the past inform efforts to prevent violence against women and girls today.

Tracey Jackson, Support & Wellbeing Manager, HMP Greenock Often hidden from services and support, women survivors who are incarcerated have been offered specialist support through our unique and pioneering partnership with HMP Greenock. VOICE

Sophie Lennox from Everyone’s Invited Everyone’s Invited’s mission is to expose and eradicate rape culture with empathy, compassion, and understanding. Their work has sparked conversations about rape culture with millions of people, and this has now been translated into unique and empowering work in school communities with boys and girls. We are delighted they will join us on the 10th November for our Kickstarter Event. Madeleine Black Madeleine has a personal story which she uses to inspire and motivate others. Violently gang-raped when she was thirteen years old, and raped three more times before the age of eighteen, Madeleine has experienced more trauma in her life than most ever will. Living in a state of shock and self-loathing, it took her years of struggle to confront the buried memories of that first attack and begin to undo the damage it wrought, as men continued to take advantage of her fragility in the worst possible way. Yet, after growing up with a burden no teenager should ever have to shoulder, she found the heart to carry out the best revenge of all: leading a fulfilling, happy life.

EXHIBITION FEATURES

TUESDAY 10 NOVEMBER, 2026

What he and she had on The centrepiece of the exhibition, entirely conceptualised and curated by GCRC’s staff team, will present a visual display of survivors and perpetrators clothing at the time of the rape or sexual violence. It aims to stimulate a range of participants' senses through sight, smell and touch and to spark conversations amongst each other, on the myths and stereotypes which underpin the rape culture we exist within. Victorious Voices Lee Cooper is a Manchester-based photographer, writer and founder of Victorious Voices, a survivor-led project using portraiture and testimony to challenge the silence surrounding childhood sexual abuse. Lee says he is honoured to bring the exhibition to Glasgow and contribute to Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis’s 50th anniversary, celebrating five decades of supporting survivors and making their voices heard.
