Artistic Director’s Note

Welcome to our 2021-2022 Season! Following an epic 10-show season last year, we knew we had to go big. While we may doing half the quantity of shows this year, we've definitely shown up with blockbuster, big-Broadway fun!

I've wanted to produce Annie since the day we opened our doors - and I am elated that it has finally made it to our Main Stage Season. We've tried to secure rights for this production almost every year since we opened, so when we finally got a "yes," I was beyond gleeful. This show has always had a special place in my heart. Of course, Annie has talented kids and dogs - two of my passions - and it's the show that turned me on to theatre. But more than that, Annie Is practically a perfect show and I'd be happy to unpack that with anyone (over a cup of coffee - of course). The fact we were able to bring in Berloni Theatrical Animals will make it even more magical for you as it has for our cast...and certainly me.

Something Rotten will round out our Main Stage Season, and if you aren't familiar with it - get ready. This side-splitting, tap-dancing, Shakespearean extravaganza is going to be a massive hit.

It's hard to explain in a short paragraph - but it includes eggs and omelettes dancing on stage. If that doesn't intrigue you, I don't know what will! It's still fairly newly available and hasn't been produced a lot in our area. Be sure to secure tickets when they go on sale!

We always look forward to our Summer Season. It provides lots of opportunities for actors of all ages to get on the GCPA stage and gives us the chance to work with so many talented kids! For our Minis (age 6-10) production camp, we chose the heartwarming Frog and Toad KIDS, based on the children's book series of the same name. With lots of lovable characters and brilliantly written music and lyrics, it's the perfect fit for this slot. Whether your young actor is having their first or umpteenth theatrical experience, this is the show for them! No audition required. Registration for each of 3 camp opportunities opens January 5th. They will go fast, so set that alarm!

We are thrilled to offer two production opportunities for our middle school-age students (age 11 14). This age group often has fewer opportunities for spoken roles in our Main Stage Season, and we couldn't be happier to give them double the chances this summer. Footloose Youth Edition will fill our normal production camp slot. No need to explain why this one will be a riot - epic dancing, fun roles, hit songs, and cowboy boots!

In addition to the production camp, we will offering our first middle school production not in camp form: 13 the Musical (ages 12 - 14). This Broadway hit is a story about what it's like to be 13 told by 13-year-olds. This musical follows the story of Evan, who moves from big-city New York to a small town in Indiana and experiences all the heartache that comes with being the "new kid." This story touches on mature topics that are so prevalent at this time of life: bullying, peer pressure, family drama, and more. It sounds heavy, which being 13 can definitely feel, but this show is hysterical, touching, and a real bop. (Not sure if the 13-year-olds still say that...)

Finally, Bonnie and Clyde will close our season. The high school (age 14 - 19) production is a very special experience every year, and this year will definitely not disappoint. Following the journey of lovers-turned-outlaws, this show bookends our season with another Great Depression-Era story but notably different In tone from our red-headed-optimist. With amazing music, fun effects, and a couple you will love when you should hate them - it's a journey worthy of this coveted slot.

While we are grateful to be back on the stage - the preciousness of live theatre is still very present.

Director’s Note What can I say about Annie that hasn’t already been said? Not much...but I’ll try.

Set in the midst of the Great Depression, the songs in the musical may be happy but the circumstances surrounding the story are not. Coming off the Roaring Twenties, the stock market crash in October 1929 and the widespread failure of the banking system fueled the destruction of citizens’ confidence in the nation’s economy. This financial crisis snowballed into what we know as the Great Depression, as jobs were lost (at its height in 1933, over fifteen million were unemployed), personal savings depleted, families were evicted from their homes, and homeless villages started popping up all across the country. These “Hoovervilles” got their name for the disdain the country had for Herbert Hoover and his handling of the crisis, with the largest Hooverville located right here in St. Louis. One of the major reasons the depression hit so hard so quickly was Hoover’s refusal to provide government assistance, stating that individuals should be self reliant and help themselves. But with no way to “help themselves” as unemployment rose uncontrollably, and the government refusing to pay promised bonuses to WWI veterans and their families, the economy needed an adrenaline shot directly to the heart. And citizens finally got the support they needed after electing FDR in 1932.

So what does this have to do with the story of Annie? Well, a lot. On the surface, “Hard Knock Life” is about the difficult life of orphans, but it’s also an anthem for the entire country trying to survive during the Depression. When Annie breaks out of the orphanage, she winds up in a Hooverville looking for her parents. Warbucks, a billionaire and self-identified Republican, is seeking government assistance (dare I say, a bailout) for his business from FDR, a Democrat. Over a thousand people come to Warbucks’ mansion claiming to be Annie’s parents, clearly only seeking the reward money in order to address their financial woes. One question that’s left unanswered is why Warbucks wanted to foster an orphan for two weeks in the worst year of the Depression. A PR move perhaps?

And then there’s Hannigan - an abusive alcoholic who (initially) wants nothing to do with her brother and his schemes because she has what so many in the country don’t have...a job. A government job that provides shelter, a “steady salary, free food, free gas and electric.” But her greed and hatred of Annie lead her to partner with her brother in a plot to swindle Warbucks out of the $50,000 reward and includes premeditated murder.

This “happy” musical has teeth and is born out of a need to find hope in a hopeless societal crisis. In the end, Annie finds a home, FDR begins work on a New Deal, the country turns around, and Sandy lives happily ever after with Annie.

Producing Annie has been a long time coming for GCPA. So much has gone into putting this story together, and we’re excited to finally be able to present it to you. And for the safety of the actors, crew, and your fellow patrons, your mask must remain covering your nose and mouth throughout the performance.

Who's Who Mia Battaglia (Orphan, US Molly) is a theatre-loving fourth grader, and is so excited to be a part of Annie! Her GCPA credits include: Amélie (Young Amélie), Frozen KIDS (Anna), Dear Edwina (Periwinkle), and The Big One-Oh! (Jennifer). She recently played the role of Matilda Wormwood in Matilda Jr. at Stages Performing Arts Academy, and has also performed with Variety Theatre and Shooting Star Productions. Mia enjoys baking, crafting and creating when not performing, and is so grateful to the whole GCPA family for their support and another amazing opportunity!

Sophia Bellm (Apple Seller, Ensemble) is thrilled to be returning to the GCPA stage!

She was recently seen in 42nd Street and Godspell Jr. Other favorite past productions include: Frozen Jr., Seussical Jr., and The Lottery. When not on stage, she enjoys playing cello and tennis. Sophia takes voice lessons from Kristianna Pirrie Dilworth and many classes at GCPA. “Thank you to my family and friends and everyone at GCPA for all their support and encouragement.”

Coco Bland (Orphan, US Tessie/Kate) is excited to be in GCPA's Annie! She actually played Sandy in this show several years ago! She has been a part of GCPA's Frozen Jr. and Anne of Green Gables, Thoroughly Modern Millie and Legally Blonde (Kirkwood Youth Theater) and Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast and Guys and Dolls (Ignite Theatre).

When Coco isn't auditioning or rehearsing, she can be found playing field hockey, dancing, perfecting her craft and entertaining her golden doodles, Sherman and Moose. A special thanks to GCPA for allowing Coco to be a part of this amazing community. "I know I'm gonna like it here!"

Damian Boric (Warbucks), an 11th grader, is excited to be a part of Annie! Credits include: Jeremy’s Dad in Be More Chill (Clayton High School), Willmore in The Rover (Clayton High School), and Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (Clayton High School). He studies voice with Tai Oney and is an inducted Honor Thespian.

LJ Brady (Morganthau, Ensemble), a 7th grader, is excited to be a part of Annie!

Favorite GCPA credits include Peter Pan in Peter Pan Jr., and Ensemble in The Music Man. LJ also enjoyed being on crew in Godspell Jr. They do voice and dance with GCPA and are also in Show Starters. In their spare time they enjoy playing guitar and bass, reading about music, drawing, and reading comic books. They would like to say “Thank you to my friends, family, and cast mates.” Enjoy the show!

Reese Brinker (Cecile, Ronnie, Ensemble), an eighth grader, is thrilled to be a part of GCPA's production of Annie. Other favorite roles include Delta Nu Kate in GCPA’s Legally Blonde, Jr., Winnie Foster in Next Generation’s (Vivre) Tuck Everlasting, Anna in Dayspring Arts and Education’s Frozen, Jr., JoJo (Joanna) in Dayspring Arts and Education’s production of Seussical, Simba in both Dayspring’s and Visitation Academy’s Lion King KIDS and the Cowardly Lion in DaySpring’s production of the Wizard of Oz, Jr. She would like to thank the GCPA cast and crew for welcoming her to Annie and a special thank you to Mom, Dad and Haley!

Norah Brym (Kate), a 4th grader, is thrilled to be joining GCPA’s YTC in their Mainstage season as Kate! Since her first experience at GCPA as a kindergartener, all the way to playing elder Princess Anna in Frozen KIDS with them this summer, Norah has always felt at home here. Outside of theater, she enjoys gymnastics and cooking, and you can bet your bottom dollar she loves dogs especially her new puppy, Pickle! She does have some love left over for her mom, dad, and little brother, too.

Gracie Cropper (Molly), is a 5th grader and so excited to be a part of this production of Annie! Gracie enjoys taking a variety of musical theatre classes throughout the school year. Some of her favorite moments were playing Anna in Frozen, Jr. (GCPA), Michael Darling in Peter Pan, Jr. (GCPA) and Ensemble in The Little Mermaid (Shooting Star Productions). Gracie loves spending time with her friends and family and greatly appreciates GCPA for this awesome experience!

Who's Who Audrey Davis (Sophie, Ensemble, US Lily), a freshman, is excited to be performing for the first time with GCPA. Audrey has been in many productions, but her favorites are starring as Junie B. Jones in Junie B. Jones the Musical (Actor’s Attic), Donkey in Shrek (Actor’s Attic), Pilar in Legally Blonde (Kirkwood Youth Theatre), Mrs. Mayor in Seussical (Kirkwood Youth Theatre), Michael Hobbs in Elf (Rockshow Productions) and Jack in Into the Woods (Rockshow Productions). Audrey wants to thank GCPA for the opportunity to work with such professional cast and staff.

Libby Edison (Annie) is overjoyed to be a part of this classical musical with this amazing cast! Annie holds a very special place in Libby’s heart, as she first caught the theater bug in her debut performance as Kate in GCPA’s summer production of Annie KIDS in 2017. This will be her 11th show since then! Other GCPA credits include Legally Blonde Jr., Anne of Green Gables, Matilda, Peter Pan Jr., Titanic, The Music Man, and Jungle Book KIDS. She also appeared in several Kirkwood Youth Theater productions. Libby studies both voice and dance, is a member of GCPA’s performance group, Show Starters, and a member of Professional Dance Center’s Ensemble team. A huge THANK YOU to the amazing creative team and crew, especially Paul, Stephanie, and Lori for making this all possible. Thank you too to Kristianna Pirrie Dilworth for her guidance and encouragement, and to all her cast mates, friends, and family for their love and support. She is so thankful for this unforgettable experience!

Jack Estopare (Assistant Dog-catcher, Ensemble) is so excited to be working with this very talented cast in Annie! He had the pleasure of being in the Youth Ensemble of Matilda The Musical at GCPA in November 2019. Jack studies voice with Jennifer Schaeffer and also plays the clarinet in his school band. He would like to thank his family for all the love and support and hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Ellemieke Ferguson (Orphan, US Annie) is in 7th grade and is delighted to be joining the cast of Annie! This is her 3rd show with GCPA. Highlights with GCPA include a Delta Nu in Legally Blonde Jr. and Bessie Wright in Anne of Green Gables. Ellemieke has had the pleasure of working with Shooting Star Productions, Over Due Theatre Company, Chaminade and STAGES. She is part of the Arch City Kids Theater Troupe, plays field hockey with Gateway, takes voice with Katie Kopff and dances at PDC. She is thrilled to be working with GCPA again and is grateful for the opportunity!

Lily Griner (Annette, Bonnie, Ensemble), a 10th grader, is excited to be in Annie. She has previously appeared in GCPA’s productions of Legally Blonde Jr., 42nd Street, Anne of Green Gables, Flat Stanley: Online Edition, A Legally Blonde Revue, The Addams Family, Titanic, The Music Man, A Little Princess, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and White Christmas, and has performed with Shooting Star and Chaminade. A dancer since age 4, Lily currently studies dance, vocal performance, and acting at GCPA, and she crafts, bakes, and is proud to always be true to herself! Lily thanks everyone for their support.

Aden Hicks (Bert Healy, Ward, Ickes, US Warbucks) is an 11th grader and is looking forward to participating in his second GCPA show! Acting credits include Will Parker from Oklahoma (Holt High School), Ralphie in A Christmas Story (YPT), and Pat Denning in 42nd Street at GCPA. He hopes you enjoy the show and remember to never dress without a smile!

Lydia Laughlin (Pepper) couldn't be more excited to join this production of Annie.

Lydia studies voice at Lisa Christine Studios and dances at Professional Dance Center.

Her favorite roles include: Shanti in Jungle Book KIDS, Peter Pan in Peter Pan Jr. and most recently Elsa in Frozen KIDS at GCPA. She also was a dance and voice soloist in the 2021 ACTT performance. Lydia is the oldest of five children and in the 6th grade.

When she is not singing, acting or dancing, she enjoys playing sports with her brothers and teaching her little sister how to dance!

Who's Who Groves where she had tap solos and various key character roles in 4 plays.

Martha also owes credit to the Kirkwood Theater where she performed in Hairspray and Seussical. Annie will be her first Mainstage musical with GCPA. Studies include group guitar lessons, and Musical Theater, Tap, Voice, Ballet and Show Starters at GCPA. Finni Preston (Dog Catcher, Hull, Ensemble) (she/they) is a 9th grader and super excited to be a part of this production of Annie. She’s been with GCPA for almost six years and has performed in in White Christmas, A Little Princess, Annie KIDS, James and the Giant Peach, Jr., and many more! They take voice lessons with Lori Pagano and dance at GCPA. In her free time she likes to do art and play video games.

Abby Rosenfeld (Ensemble), a sophomore, is so excited to be a part of Annie at GCPA! Previous credits include: Enid in Legally Blonde Jr. (GCPA), Ruby in Anne of Green Gables (GCPA), Ensemble in The Music Man (GCPA), Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda, (Wydown Theatre), and Lucile in James and the Giant Peach Jr. (GCPA). Thanks to the great directors and crew for everything!!

Mitchell Schall (FDR, Mr. Bundles, Ensemble) is ecstatic to be starring in his first ever GCPA production. Theatre has been a big part of his life for a long time, and he is so excited for his roles. Mitchell is no stranger to musicals. He has been singing in different choirs for over 11 years.

Now he continues to share his theatrical talents with everyone!

Kate Schuler (Star to Be, Connie, Ensembke) is thrilled to be part of the wonderful cast of Annie! Kate is a 7th grader and has appeared in shows with GCPA, Shooting Star Productions and Ignite Theatre Company. She dances with Professional Dance Center and studies voice with Lisa Fahey. She is grateful to Paul, Lori, Stephanie and Lisi for this amazing opportunity. Special thanks and much love to Kristianna. And to her family, I love you 3000!

Will Schulte (Ensemble), a 6th grader, is so excited to make his GCPA stage debut in Annie. Favorite past credits include Tillman Elementary's Willy Wonka as Charlie, Shrewsbury Theater's Mary Poppins as Michael Banks, and Ignite's Shrek as Young Shrek. When not researching Broadway musicals and studying their music, Will loves to play with his friends, swim, ski and enjoy time with his family. He's honored to be a part of this production and looks forward to future shows. "Thanks for the support, Mom, Dad, Harrion & Louise!"

Audrey Schulz (Duffy) is thrilled to help tell this classic story with this incredible cast.

Past favorite GCPA roles have included Chutney in Legally Blonde Jr., Young Jane Andrews and US Anne in Anne of Green Gables, Alice in Matilda, and Captain Hook in Peter Pan Jr. Audrey performs with the GCPA Show Starters, dances and acts at GCPA and studies voice with Lisa Campbell Albert. Thanks to all her family, both biological and musical!

Spencer Slavik (Ensemble), 12 years old and in the seventh grade, is thrilled to be a part of the wonderful and fun cast of Annie with GCPA. He enjoys dance and theatre and is a member of GCPA’s Show Starters Performance Group. Past GCPA shows include Captain Hook in Peter Pan Jr, Tommy in Matilda, Jimmy Glover in Anne of Green Gables, and the Judge in Legally Blonde Jr. Other shows include Hairspray Jr. with Kirkwood Youth Theater, Little Mermaid Jr. with Goshen Theatre Project and also with Shooting Star Productions, and A Christmas Story with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis. Spencer also played the part of Scooter in the short film The Mink Slide. He loves to play piano and cello, and he wants to be an engineer/inventor when he grows up. He is a member of the Humane Society Shelter Buddy Reading Program, which gives comfort to shelter dogs by reading to them, reducing their anxiety, and helping them get adopted.

Who's Who Delaney McCoy (Tessie), an 8th grader, is honored to be in Annie! Credits include: Orphan in Annie (Muny), Lullaby League in Wizard of Oz (CMP), Hortensia and US Matilda in Matilda (GCPA). Ruth Begie in Anne of Green Gables (GCPA) Becky in Dear Edwina (GCPA), Ensemble in 42nd Street (GCPA) and Delta Nu in Legally Blonde Jr. (GCPA). Shelby Peters (Mrs. Pugh, Ensemblle, US Miss Hannigan) is an 11th grader and is very excited to be part of this production of Annie. She has performed in many roles/shows at Clinton County Showcase in Illinois including: Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland Jr., Pepper in Annie, and Winnifred Banks in Mary Poppins Jr. In her free time, she plays the oboe in the band, is part of the color guard, and spends most of her time singing and listening to music.

Finley Mohr (Orphan, US Duffy), a 6th grader, is so excited to part of Annie.

Credits include Soloist in Godspell Jr., Kelli in Dear Edwina, Ensemble in Flat Stanley Online Edition and John Darling in Peter Pan Jr. at GCPA, as well as several shows at her school and church. Finley enjoys horseback riding, reading graphic novels and of course, all things musical related.

She takes dance at GCPA and studies voice with Kristianna Pirrie Dilworth. Finley would like to thank this amazing cast and directors for a wonderful experience!

AnnaKait Peters-Bahkou (Miss Hannigan) is excited to join the cast of Annie in her dream role as Miss Hannigan. Her credits include: The Wizard of Oz, Rapunzel, A Musical Adventure, Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka Jr., School House Rock Live, Into the Woods, James and the Giant Peach, Titanic, High School Musical, The Westing Game, The Addams Family, Life is like a Double Cheeseburger, Over Due Theater Company’s Magnificently MisCast and Anything's Possible. She was also in Freaky Friday, Urinetown (GCPA), Legally Blonde Jr. (GCPA), Godspell Jr. (GCPA), and LuSo’s /mis kast/. AnnaKait was also most recently Assistant Stage Manager and Miss Mush at LuSo in Sideways Stories from Wayside School. Enjoy the show!

Sarah Moll (Grace) is thrilled to return to the stage for her ninth GCPA production. In 2012, Sarah made her theatrical debut as an ensemble orphan in Annie, so this production represents a full-circle moment for her. Favorite shows include 42nd Street (Phyllis Dale), Matilda (Big Kid Ensemble), Titanic (Madeleine Astor), Crazy For You (Margie), Footloose (Ensemble), Les Miserables (Ensemble), and Peter Pan (Lost Boy Twin #2). She trains in voice, dance, and acting with the GCPA CrAFT program and has also participated in the St. Louis Solo and Ensemble Festival, the Disney Performing Arts Program, and the St. Louis All-Suburban Honor Choir. She is a member of the National Honor Society, serves on her school district’s board for the Peers Advocating for Total Health (PATH) program, and plans to pursue physical therapy and vocal music in college.

Ally Pierce (Ensemble), a freshman, is thrilled to be a part of Annie! She has enjoyed participating in a number of musicals and proudly danced with Charmette Academy of Dance for 11 years, including being a part of the competitive dance team, Stars of Tomorrow. Ally is thrilled to be studying dance & theatre at GCPA currently. She would like to thank all of her teachers, friends & family for their love and support!

Martha Poppen (Orphan) is 12 years old, and in 2017 she performed in her first musical as the Eggman in Shrewsbury’s production of Beauty and the Beast and later that year in Mary Poppins. Other credits include the Barrister in Whitecliff’s Production of Wizard of Oz and two productions of Peter Pan as Nibs and Mr. Darling at Shrewsbury and GCPA. Who's Who Audrey Strohmeyer (Orphan, US Pepper), an 8th grader, is thrilled to be back on the GCPA stage. Audrey has been performing since she was 6. She has performed with Shooting Star Productions, GCPA, and Chaminade College Preparatory School.

Favorite roles include schoolgirl in School of Rock (Shooting Star Productions) and Ancestor in The Addams Family young@part (GCPA). She enjoys singing, basketball, and golf. She would like to thank her family for their support.

Zain Thomas (Ensemble), is a 6th grader who is taking the stage in his second GCPA production! Zain loves the musical score of Annie and is excited to be playing a role in the Ensemble! Zain's previous credits include the roles of Harry and Joe in GCPA's production of Dear Edwina & Colehouse Walker Jr's son, in the MICDS production of Ragtime. Besides music, Zain loves watching anime, reading, swimming and playing video games. Zain would like to thank his parents and siblings, Zuri and GCPA alumni, Zion, for their support!

Charlie Villhard (Drake) has enjoyed roles recently in Legally Blonde Jr. and Godspell Jr., and previously in Annie Warbucks and Annie Jr. with GCPA. Charlie has also enjoyed playing Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka Jr. with his school. Thanks go to Charlie’s mom, dad and the whole GCPA staff for their support and heartfelt enthusiasm!

Evelyn Vordtriede (Lily St. Regis), an 11th grader, is thrilled to be a part of Annie!

Evelyn’s credits include Prudy Pingleton in Hairspray (COCA), Carrie in Anne of Green Gables (GCPA), Connie in A Chorus Line (Ignite Theatre Company), Albert in Newsies (Spotlight Theatre Company), and Ensemble in 42nd Street (GCPA) among others! Evelyn is a part of her school’s a cappella group and is a board member of her school's International Thespian Society.

Bryar Wall (July) is a 7th grader and is thrilled to be a part of Annie! Bryar’s other theatrical credits include The Music Man (Missouri Baptist University), Godspell Jr. (GCPA), GCPA's Show Starters and American Dance Troupe. When not in rehearsal, Bryar enjoys dancing and hanging out with her friends. She takes dance lessons at Krupinski Academy of Dance and GCPA, and voice lessons with Katie Kopff. She would like to thank Lori, Paul, and Stephanie for this wonderful experience. Bryar would also like to thank her Mom, Dad, Brayden, and Brynley for supporting her no matter what.

Elle Winings (Mrs. Greer, Ensemble, US Grace), a 10th grader, is thrilled to be a part of her first GCPA show, ever! Previous credits include, The Squip in Be More Chill, The Doctor in Matilda, Race in Newsies, The Narrator in Puffs and Captain Slank / Teacher the Mermaid in Peter and the Starcatcher. Dan Wolfe (Rooster) is extremely excited to be back on stage with GCPA in Annie.

Favorite credits from previous productions include A Christmas Story with The Repertory Theatre St. Louis, Wait Until Dark with Theatre Guild of Webster Groves, and Evita with Tuscany Theatre Company. Most recently Dan played Judas in Godspell Jr. with GCPA and loved every minute of it.

Dan is a high school student who enjoys singing and acting whenever possible.

Sophia Yoder (Orphan) just turned 10 and is beyond thrilled to be a part of Annie as her fourth GCPA production! Credits include: Storyteller in Frozen KIDS, Alien / Mrs. Cleveland in the Big One-Oh and Nibbs in Peter Pan Jr. She recently performed in Matilda Jr. at Stages Performing Arts Academy in the Ensemble. She loves pandas, reading and musicals. When not on stage, Sophia loves dancing and singing around the house, making slime and playing Minecraft. Thanks to her Mommy, Daddy, brother Wyatt, best friend Mia and Uncle Richard. Special thanks to GCPA for the support and incredible opportunities!

Who's Who Darren Young (Howe, Ensemble), a 7th grader, is "hyped" to be in his first show at GCPA. Although he is mainly a dancer, he is excited to have a chance to act. Credits include Ensemble in Mary Poppins (Variety), Guys and Dolls (MUNY) and On Your Feet (MUNY). He also danced with Muny Kids.

He dances at Krupinski Academy and has participated in American Dance Troupe (ADT) for two years. "I would like to thank my grandmas and my family for supporting me.

Macy (Sandy) was adopted from Rocky Spot Rescue of Oklahoma City, OK by guardian and trainer Bill Berloni at the age of 18 months. He had seen her on Petfinder.com and traveled all the way to Oklahoma to adopt her. She had been a stray when she was picked up by the local animal control. Miraculously, Macy avoided euthanasia for months but was overlooked for adoption. Fortunately, she was picked to enter the Prison Dog Training program at the Davis Correctional Center in Holdenville, OK by the new Leash on Life Pen Pal program. She spent 10 weeks living with the inmates and received all her basic training. Unfortunately, even though she was a model student she was the only one from the program that was not adopted.

Rocky Spot Rescue, a no kill shelter, took her, which is where Bill Berloni found her.

Her journey is truly inspiring. Since her first production of ANNIE she has starred in dozens of productions nationwide.

Addison (Sandy Understudy) made her theatrical debut at Papermill Playhouse after being adopted from the Humane Society of New York by William Berloni in the Spring of 2017. She performed the role of Sandy in several regional theaters before the pandemic and is excited to make her return to the stage here in St. Louis.

CREATIVE TEAM Paul Pagano (Director and Executive Director), a native of St. Louis, received his BA in Drama from Washington University and Masters in Theatre Education from Fontbonne University. As a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association since 2001, Paul has had the opportunity to work with the Guthrie Theatre, Utah Shakespeare

Festival, Children’s Theatre Company, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, Hey City Theatre, the MUNY, STAGES St. Louis, HotCity Theatre, and many others. As a director and fight choreographer, in addition to 19 productions (and counting) at GCPA, credits include the MUNY, Washington University, Fontbonne University, Missouri All-State Theatre, and Kirkwood Theatre Guild. As an instructor, Paul has taught at GCPA, COCA, St. Louis University High School, and STAGES Performing Arts Academy. Love to wife, Lori, and kids, Xavier and Kalia!

Lori Barrett-Pagano (Music Director and Managing Director) is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of GCPA. She earned her Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Washington University in St. Louis.

She has been teaching voice for over 25 years – currently as an adjunct voice faculty at St. Louis University, as well as voice and classes at GCPA. Professionally, Lori has performed with The MUNY, STAGES St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, Echo Theatre, Spotlight Theatre, MainStage Musicals and SIUE Summer Showbiz. Regional credits include The Minnesota Opera, North Star Opera, Minneapolis Musical Theatre, Theatre in the Round, and The Gilbert & Sullivan Very Light Opera Company. Lori is so proud of the hard work and dedication of this amazing cast. Love to her husband Paul, and her children Xavier and Kalia.

Stephanie Fox (Choreographer & Artistic Director) Originally from Oklahoma, Stephanie graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Music: Music Theatre and continued her studies independently in New York. As a proud member of Actors’ Equity (Stephanie Long) she has performed regionally, on National Tour and in New York. In St. Louis, Stephanie has taught at COCA, STAGES, and choreographed for 8 years at Chaminade College Prep along with numerous professional choreography credits. She is humbled to work with the amazing young actors that pass through GCPA’s doors. This one is dedicated to new adventures and staying connected. But mostly to Trout, who is still mad he isn't on stage as Sandy.

Who's Who Lisi Levy (Stage Manager) (she/her) is an actor, director, and teaching artist from Saint Louis, MO. After graduating from Clayton High School, she attended Oklahoma City University where she graduated summa cum laude with a BFA in Acting and a minor in Directing. As a GCPA alum, Lisi has loved returning home throughout the years. Most recently, she directed a group of incredible and compassionate young artists in Godspell Jr. at GCPA this past July! The GCPA community has been an outlet for support and joy during Lisi's career and she is thrilled to be working as a teacher and stage manager this season. Lisi values community and empathy above all. She strives to contribute to strong ensembles which promote inclusivity and belonging in their theatrical practices. When not at GCPA, you can find Lisi working at Rise Coffeehouse in the Grove or reading a good book while petting her cat, Midge.

Grace Cooperstein (Assistant Stage Manager) is a freshman and is so excited to be the assistant stage manager for Annie.

Backstage crew positions: Assistant Stage Manager for 42nd Street (GCPA), Run Crew for Anne of Green Gables (GCPA), Spotlight for Amélie (GCPA), and Stage Manager for The Happiness Shop (Whitfield School).

When not performing or working backstage, she enjoys baking, listening to Broadway music, watching TV, candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup.

Lydia Kibler (Assistant Choreographer) is a senior and has had so much fun with Annie! This is her first time assisting with the creative process of a Main Stage show, and she has learned so much. In the past she has interned and TA’d over the summers at GCPA, helping with productions such as Frozen Jr. and Peter Pan Jr. Lydia is so proud of this whole cast and all the work they put into this show.

Katie Orr (Props) is a designer, painter, theatre-marketing aficionado, and graduate from Stephens College. As a theatre advocate and native St. Louisan, it’s her passion to highlight local theatre.

There are so many incredible unsung companies, and that is why she came back to STL to further her mission as a committed designer, artist, and advocate in the St. Louis community. Tracey has costumed GCPA’s shows since 2015 and has enjoyed the opportunity to work such great talented staff and youth. Tracey lives with her husband Paul and youngest daughter Brooke. She has 4 other adult children and 2 granddaughters that own her heart.

Laura Skroska (Set) Laura Skroska is excited to be returning for her eighth show with GCPA. Laura studied technical theatre at Northwestern University and SIUEdwardsville, and received her MFA in Painting from .Fontbonne University. Laura also works as Technical Director for the New Jewish Theatre. Other recent credits include Scenic and Props Design for St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s TourCo, Props Master for Winter Opera St. Louis, and Shakespeare in the Park. He provided the first live dog to play “Nana” in Peter Pan Live as well as “Toto” in The Wiz Live, both on NBC. Emerson Mattia (Crew) is proud to represent Maplewood Richmond Heights Middle School as an 8th grader, and is extremely pumped to join the crew of Annie.
